10 Advance Swordsmanship

Meanwhile, Augustus entered the Magic Tower and made his way to the Mana Nexus Chamber. He resumed his meditation, focusing on improving his magic control and striving to reach a three-star rating.

Despite his efforts, almost three months passed by in a flash, and there was no significant improvement, except for a modest increase of 5 points in his MAG stats.

As I prepared to exit the tower, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't explored the floors above me. Intrigued, I decided to venture further and see what awaited me there.

Upon arriving at the ground above, Augustus was greeted with a large field resembling a training ground, which he now hated to see.

[Spell-Deployment Field.]

"I thought this was a enclosed tower, how is there such an open field with open air available?" Augustus wondered aloud, surprised by the spaciousness of the field.

As he stood there, Augustus was immediately greeted by a bright light coming from the sky, illuminating the vast expanse of the field. It was perfect for testing wide-range spells or any spell with a huge area of effect.

Remembering that Leo had split the ground in half during their previous battle, only to have it restored perfectly by the system, Augustus realized that he didn't need to worry about destroying the Tower.

"Right, this is the perfect time to recall all of my trap skills," Augustus thought to himself.

"This is new..." Augustus murmured, surprised by the unique spell he had unlocked.

[Elemental Trap Lvl 10]

A trap that employs elemental magic to manipulate natural elements such as fire, ice, electricity, or earth to cause damage or hinder movement.

[Upgrade cost: 150k points]

"I managed to get it to Level 10 instantly," noted Augustus, impressed by his achievement.

However, he also realized that the upgrade cost was exorbitant and felt the weight of the points required for further enhancements. Nevertheless, he was determined to make the most of his newfound trap skills and utilize them effectively in his future battles.

"The upgrade cost is insane too," Augustus muttered.

"I'm guessing because it's a unique spell and if I upgrade it, I can upgrade every type of elemental trap at once," Augustus mused, contemplating the possibilities.

He then remembered that Basic Swordsmanship could also be upgraded.

[Basic Swordsmanship Lvl 10]

Basic swordsmanship involves the foundational techniques of sword fighting, including proper stance, footwork, grip, and striking. Beginners learn to maintain a balanced stance, shift their weight smoothly, and execute basic strikes such as thrusts, cuts, and parries.

[Upgrade cost: 10k points]

"I wonder what it does when I upgrade it? Does knowledge flow through my head, and I become a sword genius or something?" Augustus pondered, curious to try it out. He checked the points available to see if he could afford the upgrade.

[8600 Points Available]

"There are not enough points even though I already got so many points from trapping skills," Augustus realized, disappointed. He then checked his quest system and redeemed all the completed quests for points.

After claiming all the rewards, there were still not enough points for Advanced Swordsmanship. Augustus tried to remember what other types of traps he had yet to deploy.

"Oh yes, I have yet used decoy trap. The basic of basic in trapping."

With the final 500 points, Augustus had finally reached slightly over 10k points for his advanced swordsmanship.

A surge of excitement pulsed through him as he eagerly anticipated the power that this upgrade would bring.

"I might regret this," Augustus thought, his heart pounding. "But it should be worth it, right? After all, it cost me 10k points."

[You have learned 'Advanced Swordsmanship']

As Augustus clicked on the notification, he braced himself for a surge of energy or a sudden change in his body. But, to his disappointment, nothing happened.

"Did I just get scammed?" he muttered, feeling a flicker of doubt.

He quickly checked the description of the newly acquired skill.

[Advanced Swordsmanship Lvl 1]

Advanced swordsmanship builds upon the foundation of basic techniques, taking sword fighting to a higher level of skill and expertise. It encompasses a broader repertoire of techniques and maneuvers that require increased precision, speed, and tactical awareness.

Augustus frowned, finding the description vague and unhelpful. There were no apparent changes in his body, and he felt a tinge of frustration.

"System, what does advanced swordsmanship even do?" he called out, but there was no response, as though he had asked a foolish question.

Augustus waited for a while but nothing happened still.

"What's done is done," Augustus sighed, trying to shake off his disappointment.

"Points can still be earned, and there's no need to cry over lost points, considering the massive gains I've made in just two days of real-life time." Despite his words, Augustus was crying due to frustration, he refused to dwell on it and cursed the system silently for any potential deception.

After spending three months in the magic tower, he finally finished his daily quest thus he can leave this place too.

Augustus was eager to return to the comfort of the Martial Seclusion House.

As he arrived at the majestic mansion, he felt a wave of relief wash over him. "I missed this place," he thought, his spirits lifting. "This place is the best."

He relished the thought of his cozy bedroom, the stunning scenery, and the fresh air that awaited him.

Before diving into his cultivation practice, Augustus decided to take a refreshing cold shower and indulge in a few days of leisurely relaxation.

"I deserve it," he smiled to himself. "Time is not a problem for me anyway. There's still plenty of time left before morning in my original dimension." With that thought in mind, he settled in, ready to make the most of his well-earned rest.
