I Volunteered

Everyone was sitting around trying to come up with a plan to handle both issues at hand, One was the creature's heading towards the outpost during the day with night slowly coming up, Two was to get the equipment ready before night fall to protect against the creature's at night that are far worse then during the day.

"We have to make sure everyone will be alright" One person stated.

"I agree but how are we going to so that?" Another person questioned.

"We only need to get the equipment up and running by sending someone to help, They have the fighters to protect everyone during the day but they will be to busy and focused on them to get the equipment finalized before night fall" The man names Dez stated, He was in charge of personnel safety and took it very seriously.

"I will go and lend a hand, If someone has to go I will I'm quick on my feet and I can help get the equipment ready" I stood up and spoke.

"Are you sure Jacob? There is no telling if you will survive this encounter or not" Dez was surprised by my volunteer and asked with some concern.

"I will be alright I know the equipment well enough to be able to help getting it ready so the fighters don't have to worry about it and focus on the creature's that will be coming soon" I said with a serious tone.

"I will go help as well" Michelle stood up and volunteered to help as well, Which to my surprise she was serious about it I've never seen her volunteer for situations like this before so what could she be planning.

"If you both are gonna go then we will make sure you get there safe, We will send some fighters along this way they can protect you and help with the horde that is on its way" Dez stated.

"We will make sure the UV lights are operational before night fall" I stated as I grabbed my rifle.

We prepared to leave for the outpost, It will take about forty-five minutes to arrive by truck and we will only have about six hours before night fall so will have less then four hours to get the equipment up and running.

"I will be there to help with the equipment and to be there for you as well" Michelle said with a smile.

"I know she means well and I couldn't be happier with her with me, At the same time I didn't want her to come along as I was afraid to lose another person that I'm close with" I think to myself.

"Everything is ready, Everyone load up that is heading out to the outpost we have to get there quickly and match sure to watch your backs along the way, We still have some reports of the undead in the are in smaller groups don't get stranded or taken by surprise" Dez shout out to the team getting ready to leave.

"Understood Sir, We will radio back once we have made it to the outpost" The driver replied.

We head out the gates towards the outpost done a deserted highway, There is evidence spread everywhere from the destroyed vehicles to the dilapidated building where people use to go all the time, This fight for our lives I everyday and no one has the time to be human beings as we always need to be fighting or moving around to be safe.

I envy the dead sometimes, They don't have to worry about anything anymore and no longer have to be afraid or worried if they are gonna make it another day, For they have already escaped this hellish nightmare and can finally be at peace.
