43 Blood

"Char, are you sure we don't need to summon our summoned creature?" Anne asked in hesitation as half a dozen goblins appeared from a bush.

"They only have rocks and branches as weapons, they should be low level. I will take on three. If you are afraid, then you can summon your imp," he told her.

Without waiting for her response, he drew his black sword and activated his quadruple physical boost. He only used a tenth of his mana pool.

Char was not using it to sharpen his sword as his sword was sharp enough to kill the goblins, he used it to increase his speed so they would not overwhelm him.

He could not use the magic tattoo as he did not summon the skeleton, thus did not have any of its bone on him.

Anne quickly reacted and followed him into the fight. She was not a coward, only a bit hesitant about the fight. When the fight started, her hesitation was no more.

She quickly confronted the goblins without fear, not like there was anything to be feared. Her opponent was too slow and clumsy to be any threat to her.

Char concentrated on the three goblins that he taunted away from the other three. Even though they were slower and not that coordinated, fighting multiple opponents had its own difficulty.

They surround him from all sides, with every chance they get. He had tried to break through, but they always succeeded in bringing him back to their encirclement.

"I need to finish one of them, fast," he thought as being surrounded was not exactly the best position to be.

"If I'm a skeleton, then I can just sacrifice some body parts to kill one of them, but I am not, so I need to compensate it with my skill," he lamented.

He was going after the goblin in front of him; it tried to beat him up with its makeshift club, but Char swung his blade at the club, cutting it with ease as it was just a random branch.

Despite losing its weapon, the short green creature did not back off, it used its sharp claw trying to attack Char.

The claw turned it metal as it activated its metal claw magic, similar to the imp, goblins also have metal claw.

Char was waiting for its move. He knew that the wild creature would fight to the bitter end. He used his other hand to grab the goblin by the wrist.

It stopped the claw. Char estimated himself to be at level 8 or 9, even though he never checked it out since the facility was not available for him. Usually, the summoner's physical body would have a similar mana level to their summoned creature.

"This goblin is weaker than me," he tightened his grip on the goblin's arm before he plunged his black sword on the goblin's head.

It dyed his sword red and he could smell iron in the air. The goblin's lifeless body fell to the ground.

"It's dead!" Char gritted his teeth as he knew the day would come for him to kill a creature, and he needed to get used to it and fast since there were two other goblins trying to murder him.

He never killed anything but insects in his life, the summoned creatures he killed did not really die, they respawned and their dead body would disintegrate.

Different from the summoned creature, wild creatures died in the truest sense, the goblin's lifeless body was the best proof that it really died.

Char tried his best to hold back his nausea. He turned around and swung his sword horizontally so the two goblins attacking him could not help but take a step back.

It gave him a few precious moments to reorient himself and strengthen his resolve.

"All this die in the end, and these creatures attacked us first, it's their fault that they deliver themselves to be my stepping stone," he thought.

Although his hand was a bit shaky, his grip on the sword grew tighter as he charged at the two goblins.

Now that there were only two of them, he could manage to keep them in his field of vision. He could see mana gathered in their makeshift club as they activated their magic.

"Smash magic! It increases blunt force damage and has a high chance of immobilizing its target for a short amount of time. I can't get hit or it will break my bones," he analyzed.

He took a step back just in time to dodge the first strike, but the other was already upon him. Instead of taking another step back, he used his sword to parry the strike.

It made his arm a bit numb. Ignoring the numbness in his arm, Char borrowed the momentum from the club to raise his sword high.

With a quick move, he used his iconic vertical strike. It cut the goblin in two. Blood pooled on the ground while some of it splattered on Char's clothes and face.

Even stronger nausea attacked him. He could smell the blood and see the dead body looking at him with its open eyes.

He tightened his palm and his nails cut his palm, the stinging pain gave him enough clarity to dodge a blow from the remaining goblin, it tried to crack his head open.

It stumbled as its full power strike hit nothing. He quickly grabbed Goblin's arm and pulled it closer.

Without a warning Char smacked it with the pommel of his sword repeatedly, "You want to crack my head? I will crack yours instead!" he said in anger.

Char decided to channel his anger to push down his fear and guilt. It did wonder to make him keep fighting.

But when he came to himself, he found himself mounting the goblin's lifeless body, while its head had been turned into a meat paste.

"Hoek..." Char vomited. All the adrenaline had left his system, and he knew that his hands were already dyed in blood.

"You okay, Char?" Anne asked him in worry. She looked fine, even though her boots were dyed in red from the goblins' blood.

"Yeah, I just need a moment," he told her.
