As I looked at the surplus of notifications playing in front of me, I finally sighed. I fall to the ground as if a big weight has been lifted from my shoulders. The goal I had been trying to achieve for over 15 years has been completed. I can finally return home!

As I looked around, the battlefield corpses lay astray. The fight between Humans and Demons was now over. Demon bodies lay mangled, and the serving Demons were now being captured.

thousands of humans lay dead.

Beside me were the companions I have journeyed with. The original 5 of us were now down to 3.

To the side of me was a woman crying over a big-looking man.

The woman was named Francine, and she was our priest. The man was her husband, the tank of our group. I couldn't even feel sad as I just stared. I was in disbelief that one of my friends, who was just standing beside me laughing, was dead.

All the way further back was a woman on the ground. Her dark hair was strewn on the ground, unkempt. Another girl was crying right beside her.

The one crying was called Nina, and the one on the ground was called Uline.

They were sisters and Uline sacrificed herself using her greatest weapon, the skill (Ultimate Flame Oblivion.)

Out of strength, my legs give out. I fell to the ground. I had seen many deaths; some were strangers, but others were my friends, but this. But this was too much. Before I could tell, my eyes slowly closed as I lost consciousness.

Feeling my strength coming back, I sit up.

Looking around, I was in a luxurious room. A maid who was cleaning the side saw me slowly rise. "Oh my gosh! The Hero has awakened."

As she said that, she hurriedly ran out. Not even a minute later. Four people walk in. Two of them were Nina and Francine, whereas the other two were the princess of the kingdom, Juliette, and the King, Harry.

"You finally woke up!"

Seeing that I was awake, the three girls came over and hugged me. The King only smiled as he looked at me warmly.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save them. I'm supposed to be the Hero, but all I could do was watch them sacrifice themselves while I was powerless."

I was now clenching my hands and teeth hard. The guilt from the battle finally washes over me. Both Eline and George were killed because I wasn't strong enough to protect them.

"You can't blame yourself, Silas. We didn't know how powerful the Demon Lord would be, and we were all prepared to die. They chose to go out on their own. And that's because they trusted you with the task of finishing the job. They trusted you, and you didn't betray their expectations. You were able to complete their wishes, and they are probably well rested knowing that they were able to help you save the world."

Francine's words help me, but I still have my reservations.

"We saved the world; we have to remember them as heroes always to remember their accomplishments. But now that the task is done, what will you do now."

Everyone stares at me as I try to think. The thing is, I am not originally from this world. I am from planet Earth and used to live in the United States.

I was summoned here when I was 16 to save this world as a Hero.

Yes, I am an isekai protagonist. Thankfully this story can end with me going back to Earth.

If I can go back, I can make killer sales on my isekai story. But at the same time, I don't know if I want to recall some of my stories of the past.

"I'll tell you my decision tomorrow. I think I still need to rest."

Everyone nodded as I went out. As expected, only one stayed. It was princess Juliette. She was there when I was first summoned and has been by my side.

"Are you going to go back?"

She was now looking at me with a saddened face. Since we spent so much time together, we naturally started having feelings for each other. In the end, we became full-blown lovers.

"I don't know yet, but my family is still in my old world. and I have been gone for 15 years already."

I pause before continuing. "

But I don't want to leave you."

We look deeply at each other before she comes in with an embrace.

"It's fine; we did essentially kidnap you from your world. It's only fair you return. If you go through, can you at least remember me?"

Tears started to well up in her eyes. I couldn't move much, so we only hugged for a while. After she left, I started thinking about what I wanted to do.

Do I want to leave the love of my life?

I mean, she's a princess and a beauty at that. But I've already been gone for too long. I feel like I've started to forget some stuff about Earth.

I guess I should go back. I don't know what has changed about Earth, but I think I should go.

I've already finished my goal of defeating the Demon King, and I am already homesick. Hooh, I guess I've made up my mind. My isekai story is now coming to an end.

I sleep peacefully, knowing I've made my decision. I bring up my decision to everyone, and they reluctantly agree.

I spent two weeks going around saying bye to everyone. The people I've met here are numerous, and they all have taught me to become the person I am.

As I stand inside the runic array, I look at every one. Juliette, Nina, Francine, the King, my teachers, and the knights I fought with.

Some saluting, some crying, some waving. But they all had sad smiles as they saw me depart.

Before heading into the array, I give one final glance to Juliette, the love of my life. Tears rolled down both our faces as we say goodbye for the last time.

I feel the white and green light envelop me. My head starts to feel dizzy as my eyes falter.

After who knows how long, I feel myself standing on the ground. I look around in amazement. My eyes still watering from the goodbye pour out more water. The place and people I have met for 15 years are all gone and I will never see them again.

The kingdom's palace is gone, and I see high-rise buildings. People walking every which way, all dressed in casual attire. Behind me was a building with multiple game posters.

This... is the same spot I was teleported in.

I look down to see my smooth hands and feel my face. My facial hair is barely growing.

I hurriedly ran to the windows of the store right beside me.

What... I am in the same spot.

I am as young as I was when I left.

Now all I need is the date to confirm my suspicion.

I walk up to one of the people walking and hurriedly try to come up with words. It has been so long since I've spoken English that it seems foreign.

All I could mutter was,

"What is the date."

I cringe in embarrassment as I seem like a total lunatic.

For some reason, the clothes I was wearing in the castle were still on me.

They were too big, but it seemed like I walked right out of a convention.

the man looks at me weirdly and pulls up his phone. "March 16th, 2016."

I hurriedly thanked him before taking a dash in what seemed to be a random direction.

Holy crap, no time passed at all?!?!

I thought at least a year would pass in real-time, but that didn't happen!

Was everything I just witnessed a dream? No, that can't be because I still have my outfit and gear. As I run home, I start questioning myself.
