12 The Gods of Labanan (6)

One after another, Fidel heard his classmates gingerly call out their status windows. Then, he noticed them being struck with awe by whatever they saw while staring at the air.

Now curious about his own, Fidel uttered the two words, "…Status Window." Thereupon, a holographic screen materialized out of nowhere and appeared in front of him.

[Status Window]

Username: Fidel Alimoren

Race: Human

Sex: Male

Age: 17 yrs. old

Class Level: Lv. 1 Killer King

Condition: Healthy

Affiliation: N/A

Aliases: Lone Wolf

Stats: [Strength – Mid (Low) / Endurance – Low (Peak) / Mana – Low (Mid) / Agility – Low (Peak) / Stamina – Mid (Low) / Luck – Low (Mid)]

Class Abilities: <Hit List> <Reap the Lives> <Blood Mist> <Doppelganger> <Apex Predator>

Other Abilities: N/A

[Level-up Points: 5]

After looking through everything carefully, Fidel's eyes glowed with wonder and he couldn't help but be amazed at the incredulous sight before him; the same as his classmates.

'So, this is a status window, huh. Interesting…' he mused. 'An RPG system, is what it was formerly called, right? I never heard of anyone from my previous life possessing one of these before. Must be a privilege given only to the summoned Heroes.'

Staring at the class abilities section, Fidel instinctively pressed one of them and a pop-up then emerged.

[Hit List (Passive / Special-grade) – Attacking an enemy will leave a mark on them, and if the user kills the marked enemies he will regenerate some of his health.]

'The hell is this…?'

Fidel was blankly shocked and proceeded to check out all his other class abilities one by one.

[Reap the Lives (Active / Low-grade) – Become an intangible shadow of death that teleports and strikes every enemy marked with Hit List.]

[Blood Mist (Active / Low-grade) – The user exudes his extreme bloodlust into the surrounding area to form a red mist around him, and while enemies are inside the mist their visions will be impaired.]

[Doppelganger (Active / Low-grade) – Creates a manipulable double that has a percentage of the user's overall stats.]

[Apex Predator (Active / Low-grade) – The user temporarily gains a tremendous power-up which increases all of his stats by one sub-tier.]

Reading the short brief descriptions of his class abilities, Fidel was plenty satisfied with the lottery draw he got, or so he assumed that the classes were randomly generated for each person.

"Hehehe~! It's pretty amazing, right~?"

Everyone was instantly snapped out of their reverie. Then, all of them switched their gazes from the status windows to the giggling little boy.

"So, how are you liking your status windows so far? Hmm~?" Bathala said with a refreshing smile. "I worked very hard to compile every single one of your personal information, you know~ The least I deserve is a thank you, don't you think? Come on, say it with me now, 'Thank you very much O great and charming Bathala.' Ready, set--"

"Hold it." Florante Lastimosa interrupted while raising a hand.

"What is it this time, you big oaf."

The little boy couldn't help but pout his lips in dissatisfaction when his fun was ruined yet again by the same annoying individual. Nevertheless, Florante Lastimosa continued to inquire with a no-nonsense tone, "I don't have any problems with our stats since I believe it's the system's assessment of our physical prowess. What I don't understand though is our classes or Class Level, as it says here. How were they determined exactly?"

Bathala exhaled a clearly tired out sigh before explaining to him in a monotonous voice, "The classes were picked based upon your talents, potential, expertise, and such. Meaning, what you have is essentially the best of what you can do. Of course, there are exemptions to this rule, like for example him."

The little boy suddenly pointed his finger to single out a particular person in the crowd. His classmates quickly parted away from him to make room, and that fellow was finally revealed.

"Eh, me?" Cyke Arceo pointed at himself, looking for confirmation.

"That's right." Bathala nodded his head then said, "I'll disclose it to you all--this guy has the one and only legendary Hero class. But that doesn't mean he has the knack of being a hero, it's just that the role fits him well enough; therefore, it was assigned to him. Although this is a special or rare case, I suppose."

"I see… Thank you for answering my question."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's just get this out of the way then. Does anyone else have any questions they would like to ask me?"

This time it was Cyke Arceo who directly raised his hand. Seeing that, Bathala nudged with his chin for him to speak up. Wearing the benign expression that he usually used on strangers to instantly gain a favorable impression, Cyke Arceo then talked about what was on his mind.

"Uhm, I can't help but get curious on what purpose these five level-up points serve?"

"So, it's with regards to the level-up points, huh. Well, level-up points are basically a convenient way for you to upgrade your stats and abilities. Of course, you get them by leveling up then five points will be distributed to your system accordingly."

"Oh, so it's like that! I see." Cyke Arceo replied with a cool smile. "By the way, what's the maximum level cap we can reach?"

"Level 15, and like I said before, the only way for you to attain a level is to accomplish great feats. For example, saving a village that's in danger will get you to level 2, so you should visit one of my churches afterward to receive your reward."

Finished answering his questions, Bathala looked toward the others to see if somebody else had something they would like to add. And just as he had expected, someone in fact did--the fat guy that Crisha Mae Generosa stepped on earlier raised a shaky, nervous hand in the air.

"Uhh… Can I ask a question?"

"Sure, fire away."

"What's an alias? And why is there 'Fat Loser' written here?"

"Aliases are what people see, think, or refer to you as."

"WHAT!?"

It seemed as though he was utterly shocked by this revelation. Actually, Fidel has seen this fatso classmate of his get bullied numerous times already, and also mocked by his so-called friends behind his back. That was the harsh reality of his situation in school.

"I get that people think I'm fat, but also a loser…? Is this for real?" he muttered in disbelief.

Bathala happened to have heard him, as he mercilessly cut-in with his words, "It's as real as it gets, just like your current situation. Shortly after this, you will be sent into an even crueler environment than what you have experienced so far in your life. Prepare yourself and strive to survive with the gift given to you by the system. That's all I have to say."

Afterward, a stifling silence settled inside the large room. All eyes were trained on Bathala, waiting for things to come to pass or for the stillness to be somehow broken.

"Okay then~" Bathala clapped his hands. "Assuming that every question has been adequately answered I will now say my sincerest farewell to all of you. Please have a safe and enjoyable trip to the world of Labanan everyone."

Out of the blue, their bodies were engulfed by a bright light and were slowly disappearing. But unexpectedly, Florante Lastimosa raised his voice all of a sudden as he belatedly thought up of something.

"Wait for a second! I have one more thing to ask!"

"Oops~! Too bad, but it looks like we're out of time here. See you around fellas~!"

"How do we--"

Before he could finish his sentence, Florante Lastimosa abruptly vanished from the spot he was standing on. The little boy Bathala sighed in relief that the buzzing nuisance was finally gone and out of his sight for good. Turning toward the other gods beside him, he decided to strike up a casual conversation with them.

"So, do you think all of them will stand a chance of surviving over there in Labanan?"

"Very unlikely." Goddess Isha offered a curt answer.

"Humph! My orc race will quickly deal with humanity, those weaklings will only be additions to the chopping block." Tigreal gruffly responded.

"Whatever fate may bring to them; I'll gladly enjoy the show they will be putting on in Labanan."

And lastly, Girby Kief could be seen stroking his beard while a fascinated expression adorned his old face.

"Mm. You are definitely right grandpa dwarf, this is gonna be the most entertaining show to watch in a long while."

Bathala nodded his small head and one-hundred percent agreed with what he said. Then, staring at the spot where the crowd stood moments ago, an insidious grin crept upon his cute face.

"I really, really can't wait to see what they're going to bring on the table."
