The Three Fortunes (Part-2)

A sudden realization that the God of Death was omnipotent or at least semi-omnipotent hit Eugene.

Eugene set his gaze on the towering person with an unbelievable presence and found out that he was surprisingly able to see more of him.

As for why? He had a few ideas.

Maybe it was because his soul had gotten stronger, or perhaps it was because the God of Death was allowing him to see his face more clearly.

"Oh! So you already knew I was going to accept your offer."

"Well, I guess I did."

The God of Death honestly admitted that he knew what choice Eugene was going to make.

Eugene's mood soured as he realized that God had played him for a fool.

"What else does the thing in my head do except of notifying me of the obvious?"

Eugene was a bit curious about the source of the monotone voice that had rung in his head once or twice, and he didn't hesitate to ask God of Death, who was quite a smooth talker, about it.

"It has many functions, but the main ones are to help you flip your fate, rebel against heaven, and show you the progress you've made in your stats and the skills you've acquired."

The God of Death took a step forward.

He vanished from his place.

Then, a moment later, he appeared next to Eugene.

"Just say the words, status screen."

The God's face was too close to his eyes. His handsomeness was making him die out of jealousy and blinding his eyes.

To a man like Eugene, who couldn't be more ordinary, a person as handsome as the God of Death was a cheat.

Eugene stepped back from him and looked at the sky.

Only then did he feel the sourness in his mouth decrease.

'Status screen.'

Eugene whispered to himself in a barely inaudible voice.

Immediately after, a holographic screen popped up in front of him.

[Outlander: Eugene]

[Level 1]

[0/10 Exp]

[Strength: 13]

[Stamina: 15]

[Mental Energy: 100 Units]

[Health: 10]

[Agility: 17]

[Skills: Mental Fortitude (Passive) (Lvl 1), Fortune & Misfortune Seeing Eyes]

[God of Death's Handcrafted System's Skill: Stats Siphoning (Passive) (Lvl 1), Mental Energy Control (Active) (Lvl 1)]

"So it's a system, the Golden finger of protagonist that usually gets killed by truck-Kun."

Eugene saw the God of Death gritting his teeth and thought he might have stepped on his nerves with his remark about his creation.

"Child, it's way better than one. I only tweaked it a little to suit your taste."

Eugene acted like he was ignorant of the fluctuations in God's temper and continued to converse with him as normally as possible.

"Hey, God, how do I find out what these skills do?"

"You can see for yourself by focusing your gaze on the skill's name."

After the God of Death explained to him how he could see the hidden information of the skills, Eugene focused his gaze on the first one.

Immediately after, a prompt appeared in the corner of his vision and covered one-tenth of his vision.

[Stats Siphoning: You can extract physical and spiritual stats from the ones you defeat and assimilate with them to increase your strength, fill your experience bar, and increase your astral energy storage.]

[Skill Type: Passive]

[Skill Source: The Lord of infinity!]

[Rejoice, for you can now make the strength of those you dominate yours!]

He moved his gaze onto the name of the second God's crafted skill.

[Mental Energy Control:- You can interact with the primary energy source of the tower present within you to make it do your bidding. Your understanding of Mental energy determines how you shape it, what you shape it into, and how high an amount of it you can control.]

[Proficiency: 1/10]

[Level: 1]

[Skill Type: Active]

[Rejoice, for you can now interact with the Primary Energy Source of the Tower, the Mental Energy!]

Both skills didn't only sound great, but Eugene could tell that they could potentially help him become strong in a short time.

The first skill would have him increase all his stats and his mental energy pool as long as he was willing to put himself in danger and fight others.

The second one allowed him direct access to mental energy.

What was it?

It was the most basic yet also terrifying supernatural power in the crumbling words.

To explain it in a few words, one who has total control over it can dominate an entire army all alone.

Eugene had played the game, The Crumbling World, for three years, and it had taken him half a month to gain a way to control a small quantity of mental energy.

So seeing that he already had the skill to control it made him immensely happy.

'I thought my luck would never take a turn for the better until I die, but I guess I forgot to overthink things again! After I died, I became one hell of a lucky man! Not only would I become a damn handsome man, but I also gained what most never will.'

A wide smile blossomed on Eugene's face.

He was genuinely happy, and even a few tears appeared in his eyes.

"You're happy too soon. It has many other functions, each one with its own purposes but extremely beneficial to you. Explaining all its functions to you will tire me out, so I will leave it up to you to find out what they are. But believe me, Rebellion and its function are your best trump card at flipping your fate and rebelling against heaven."

"Rebellion? Is that its name?"

"Yes, sounds good, doesn't it?"

"It does."

The God of Death wasn't willing to tell him what he had blessed with him, but since he was saying that it would help him in all sorts of ways, Eugene believed Rebellion must be something far more better than his initial assessment of it.

As for how good it is, he would only find out after putting it to practical use in the mortal realm.

Eugene looked up at the sky and sighed, "Talking to a God is tiresome for a mortal like me. Let's make our meeting short."

"Then, I will conclude our meeting after giving you my third blessing."

The God of Death snapped his fingers.

Thousands of specks of light appeared out of thin air in their surroundings.

Each of them grew to the size of a hand.

Then, they took the form of a card with mystical symbols behind its back.

Their back was facing Eugene. Thus, he couldn't see their front.

The God of Death saw how confused he was, so he decided to clear his confusion.

"Each of these cards is a sealed skill book belonging to different classes, which I took directly out of my library, and I will unseal whichever one you pick. Yes, do not look at me so surprised. You can make one of them yours. As for which one, that solely depends on your luck & intuition."
