Allen's Second hand man

The seventh period at school had just started when Eugene stood up from his seat and stared hard at the teacher.

As his stubborn intentions were evident on his face, the teacher could tell that he would not stop bothering him until obtaining what he wanted.

"What do you want, student?"

"I am not feeling well, teacher." Eugene said, "I hope you can give me permission to go home early today."

"You still have a home to return to?"

The teacher tried to poke his wounds, not knowing that his adopted mother had long welcomed him back home.

Eugene knew he had said that to make fun of him, but he didn't lose his temper or lashed out at him and merely gave him a smile as gentle as a cool breeze in summer.

"Yes, sir! I do have a home to return to, for your information."

"Tch!" At his words, the math teacher, who was above 60 years old and hated Eugene because he had best his grandson in the previous exam, clicked his tongue. "Alright, Eugene, stop wasting our time and get going. Who am I to stop you when you want to miss out on my lectures?"

Whether the old man was trying to get on his nerves with his words or not didn't matter to Eugene.

What mattered to him was that he had received the old man's permission to get the heck out of here.

"Thank you, dean."

Eugene earned the permission of the teacher to go home with the help of a great excuse that he had prepared beforehand during recess.

He was the top student in this school, so the teacher didn't fear that his grade would drop just because of missing a few lessons.

Moreover, the teacher actually wanted him to miss out on his valuable lectures as he wanted his son to surpass him in the exam and become the student of the year.

Thus, he allowed him an early leave.

As Eugene left the classroom, a boy the same age as him texted quite a few people, informing them he was heading out of school.

Eugene, of course, didn't notice this kid's sneaky little actions as his attention was elsewhere.

When Eugene reached the staircase which connected the second floor with the first and third one, he saw a red exclamation mark appearing down the stairs.

[The Misfortune-Seeing Eyes has detected that you would encounter immense danger ahead.]

[Would you still like to move down the stairs?]

[Yes]/[No]

"Ahh, of course not!"

Although the color of the mark of dead was pale, meaning he wouldn't die facing the danger and at most receive minor injuries, Eugene still turned around and walked away from the staircase.

Like any other sane man, he, too, had no intention of facing unknown dangers if he could avoid them.

Just then, he received a notification from Rebellion.

[The Misfortune-Seeing Eyes has divined that you'll meet the misfortune of being surrounded by a group of students carrying ill intentions towards you if you don't hastily leave school.]

Then, Rebellion's voice rang in his head.

[So, Host, I, the God of Death's hand-crafted system, implore you to walk at a faster pace. It would be even better if you started running.]

"Alright, alright, I got it."

Eugene ran across the corridor, breaking the school's rule.

Then, he took the emergency exit to leave the school's building.

Unsurprisingly, a team of two boys was just waiting for him to appear.

They blocked his way.

He was about to barge his way through them when they began apologizing to him profusely.

He didn't say a word as he watched them bark up to him.

While they were begging for his forgiveness, in reality, they didn't feel like they'd wronged him by trying to destroy his reputation when he was working for Allen.

Eugene's eyes turned cold as he saw a black aura emerging around them and creeping up to him.

He understood that they clearly didn't have any good intentions behind approaching him and blocking his way.

Right then, a few notifications issued by his system popped up in his vision.

[The Misfortune-Seeing Eyes & Fortune-Seeing Eyes have determined they are stalling you for a not too good reason.]

[The Misfortune-Seeing Eyes have divined that you can avoid an upcoming battle with a group of people by knocking out the two students before you before heading home immediately.]

[The Fortune-Seeing Eyes has divined that it would benefit you if you play along with them and wait for the mastermind behind this ploy to arrive.]

[Which of the two divination would you like to follow?]

The smile on Eugene's face vanished.

What replaced it was a desire to be violent towards fellow humans.

'Isn't it obvious? I am going to fish for fortune in trouble water instead of choosing the safe route and hiding in my foster home.'

The next moment, the system's monotone voice sounded in his mind.

[Ding! Host, you have chosen to brace danger for the sake of earning a fortune. The System will motivate you by giving you a quest.]

[Allen's right-hand man, Kaiser, wants to solidify his position as the new boss of the Red Hawks by besting the man who defeated the previous boss.]

[Because you've shamed the Red Hawks, a gang he has been a part of for years and ruined the hard work he did to increase its infamy in this part of the city, his hatred for you is as deep as the ocean, and he will use any means to force you onto your knees.]

[Your mission is to defeat him and disband the Red Hawks.]

[Task: Subdue the boss & members of the Red Hawks!]

[Rewards: You will be able to extract 50% of their stats if you defeat their boss by using God's hand-crafted skill, Stats Siphoning. You will receive the Sword of Full Moon if you knock out all of them by yourself. You will earn additional rewards if your performance during the mission manages to impress the owner of the pair of the eyes observing you from the void.]

The rewards he would get by completing the quest enticed Eugene beyond belief.

[Your skill, mental fortification, has stabilized your mind.]

He regained his composure almost immediately, though, thanks to his passive mental fortification skill.

'So one of your many functions is to hand out quests to me?'

[Yes, you're correct.]

The two boys he had been ignoring for a whole minute now stepped up to him angrily.

But when they met his piercing gaze, their anger died down instantly.

"Hey, we're apologizing to you, so why are you keeping mum?"

"Do you think we are not sincere enough, or is it that you've no intention of forgiving us?"

At their words, Eugene chuckled like a mad man.

"You two can stop acting now. I already know you're wasting your brain cells to keep me here so that Kaiser and his homies can catch up to me. Correct me if I'm wrong."

The eyes of the two boys widened to the size of saucers as what Eugene said was the truth that they had been trying to hide all this while.

"Y-you, how did you find out?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Eugene smirked at them. "You two are terrible actors."

"So what if they are? They still succeeded in completing their task."

Suddenly, the voice of an arrogant teenager came from behind him.

Eugene turned around and saw a boy with hawk-like eyes and purple hair accompanied by about ten or so students.

As for the two boys, they ran away from Eugene as if he was a plague.

"I've been waiting for you."

Eugene beckoned Kai to come & fight him.

Kaiser shook his head, "Oh no, I won't be fighting you alone."

Eugene's squinted his eyes at him. "Then what?"

"It's going to be you against all of us!"

Kaiser said that, and several students with ill intentions began surrounding him.

Eugene stretched out his middle finger towards them. "Bring it on."

Although he was about to brawl it out with a dozen people, he didn't seem anxious. He was feeling good and was confident that he could sweep the floor with them if he started using his skills!
