After waiting on the shore of the lake for another hour or two, a team of 1 Jonin and 3 chunnin arrived, apprehending Zabuza and Haku and taking them back to the village.

As the team traversed across the river, Tazuna and the oarsman recalled the stories of their land, the good ones before Gato arrived, but then expressed the horrors their village had gone through after.

"hey Kakashi Sensei, is the Land of Waves under the protection of Konoha?" Naruto asked, his mind racing a million miles an hour.

"I think so. But the relations are quite basic. The land of Waves is able to request missions from the Konoha ninja, and the Konoha ninja can accept if they want to. Nothing too serious.

Why do you ask?" Kakashi answered.

"Well, if, for instance, a citizen of the Land of the Waves, presumably someone with enough reputation with the public, such as a bridge builder who is building the main bridge between the Land of Waves and the Land of Fire, requests the help of Konoha ninja to help them deal with a certain local Tyrant, with the promise of all the local Tyrant's loot being the reward granted, I'm sure there would be no political issue, right?" The People of the Waves will be eternally grateful to Konoha and all the loot of the Tyrant shall be the reward for this endeavor." Tazuna was slow to catch on to Naruto's words until he got a kick from the oarsman before he requested the Team.

"What do you say Kakashi. Want to improve political relations, trade routes, and supply channels for the Village?" Kakashi quickly went through the different scenarios and consequences of such a mission, before finally nodding.

"Awesome. Tazuna san, don't worry about the people of the village. By this time next week, bring everyone to the town square, where you will receive the good news." Kakashi declared as Tazuna's and the oarsman's eyes teared up.

As soon as everyone was on dry land, the two bowed deeply to the shinobi, almost kneeling on the ground, if not for Kakashi and Yakumo stopping them from doing so.

"There, there. There is no need for such actions. All we request is a place for us to rest for the night. That should be the payment from you personally." Kakashi gave his iconic eye smile before they all arrived at a small house in the middle of the woods, meeting with a beautiful middle-aged lady and a bratty young child.

"MILF!!! MILF!!! MILF!!! MILF!!! MILF!!!" Hiroki chanted inside naruto's mind, making the blond sweat drop. He had recently started to learn the meanings of such words. After all, Hiroki had a book labeled Urban Dictionary in his Library that he recently got access to.

Naruto was, for lack of a better word, disgusted, horrified, and scarred for life, when he read it.

Then and there, Naruto swore to always check with Hiroki before reading random books from the library.

"Thank you for your hospitality." Kakashi bowed and thanked the lady before entering the decent-sized house, before taking over the two guest bedrooms with the Team.

"No worries. Please, feel at home. This is the least I could do after you saved Father's life, more than once." Tsunami smiled as she went to prepare some food.

"Kakashi-san. Since we will be taking down that Gato, should I go ahead and do some recon with my clones?" Naruto asked after dinner.

"Are you sure? I know your clones can last a long time because of your chakra, but would it not overload your mind too much?" Kakashi asked in worry.

"Don't worry about it. I modified the technique slightly. I can control what memories I want from my clones. Most of the useless memories and feelings can be discarded. This way, I don't have to be distracted during battle when a clone dies or something. Also, no huge amounts of mental stress from multiple clones." Naruto smirked, as Kakashi was surprised.

"Naruto, do you know what you have done? The Multi-shadow clone jutsu is an A-rank technique not only because of the chakra requirements but also because of the mental demands of the skill. You just removed one of the main obstacles to the technique. I'm sure this would be classified as more than an A-rank technique right now.

"What??!!" Sasuke was kinda jealous, while Yakumo was looking at Naruto in a new light.

She knew he was a genius, just from his explanations, and his seals, but to improve upon an A-rank technique just like that, was something else.

"I'll teach it to you guys. Don't worry. But before that, you need to have enough chakra reserves so that you don't accidentally off yourselves." Naruto chuckled.

Soon, Kakashi asked Naruto to send out his clones for recon, before the four went to bed.

"Psst. Wake up." In the middle of the night, Sasuke shuffled in his sleep, as a figure loomed over him.

"Five more minutes.." Sasuke grumbled before the figure quickly gave him a hit on his back, which woke up the kid instantly.

"What!!! Who's there?" Sasuke jumped on the bed in perfect stance, before his eyes focused on the figure.

"Naruto? What the hell is your problem? It's the middle of the night!!" Sasuke grumbled as Naruto's yellow hair reflected the small amounts of moonlight entering the room.

"Listen. Do you want more power?" Naruto asked seriously.

"What? Of course, I want power, but it's the fucking middle of the night." Sasuke, still pissed someone disturbed his sweet dream of riding on a plump tomato, chasing down some cats as the white fluffy clouds went by.

"I was going to let you in on my secret to how I got so strong, but if you don't want it, then I guess we can forget about it." Naruto put on a disappointed tone as he pretended to turn around.

"Wait. What secret? I want power. We can talk." Quickly, Sasuke's attitude turned 180, as they both went out of the house, leaving clones in their beds, as Naruto lifted the silencer seals.

"Do you think souls exist?" Naruto suddenly asked as the duo reached a clearing in the forest behind the house.

"What? Souls. Like those spooky ghosts?" Sasuke asked in confusion. 'What's that got to do with his power?'

"Yes. But not really. You see, some special souls, when they have a lot of power in them, have the ability to live forever in this world. But the cost of it is to reincarnate into bodies of their descendants and take a back seat in the minds of their newest reincarnation." Sasuke nodded as Naruto explained.

"A long time ago, there were two brothers. They were both incredibly powerful as they had inherited the gifts of the father. The elder brother got the father's eyes and mind, while the younger brother got the father's body. When the time came, the younger brother got selected as the heir to the father, while the elder brother grew slightly jealous.

But, there was a third being that wanted the brothers' powers for himself, but couldn't take it outright. So, he decided to whisper in the elder brother's ears, making him jealous of his brother and feeding it to corrupt the love between the siblings. This brotherly love turned into hate because of external corruption, and since these two brothers were incredibly powerful, they were able to reincarnate into the bodies of their descendants.

However, the third being didn't get what he wanted, so, he whispered and manipulated the reincarnates of the elder brother, making them hate the reincarnates of the younger brother. Over time, the elder forgot everything other than hate, and so, the Cycle of Hatred continued for more than a thousand years.

Do you follow me so far?" Naruto asked the boy.

"Are you trying to say that you are some reincarnated soul?" Sasuke asked with a weird expression.

"Not me. But there is another soul inside me. I have the younger brother, can you guess who has the older one?" Naruto queried with a sad smile.

This put Sasuke on guard, "Is it …me?" He asked in fear and disgust.

"Yeah. Sasuke Uchiha, the Reincarnation of Indra Otsutsuki, Nice to meet you. I am Naruto Uzumaki, the Reincarnation of Ashura Otsutsuki."

So, this is my take on the whole reincarnation business.

I decided to let Sasuke in on the secret of the incarnations, because, why not.

Also, I read someone commenting that since Naruto has Hiroki training him, Sasuke should get Indra to teach him.

So, I decided to go with it. Indra will train Sasuke, but not for a while.

Naruto's going to be fucking OP by the time Hiroki's done with him, so, why not have Sasuke continue being his friendly rival to keep pushing the two forwards.

Also, I decided to change the timeline slightly.

I realized that having genin take the chunnin exams not even half a year after they became proper ninjas is straight-up idiotic.

So, I made it so that the chunnin exams happen after a year after they became ninjas and graduated the academy.

So, Wave Mission takes 3 months, and Chunnin Exams happen 9 months after.

But don't worry, I won't drag out the chapters and the story.
