Chapter 9: Identity Card Creation

I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed that the other two girls had left. "Are they on the night shift?" I said. I noticed my robe wasn't on me anymore so I looked around for it. I found it on a small table, so I grabbed it and put it on.

'Dammit. I need to tell Aliyah to not remove this robe. It's what hides who I am.' I said slightly angrily in my mind.

"Hm? What's going on, Pearl." Aliyah had woken up and started conversing with me. She was hazily awake, but awake nonetheless. "Hey Aliyah? Please do not remove my robe when other people are around. Remember what I said about hiding the fact I'm a beastman?" I said. Aliyah then realized she could've put my identity at risk and apologized immediately. "Sorry. I didn't think about it very hard."

Jeez this girl... She pisses me off but I do like her. She is very friendly and she doesn't hate beastmen. She also looks very pretty. She has nice brown hair and green eyes. If she were in my old world when I was still alive, I probably would've fallen in love with her. Or at least became her friend. Wait...why am I saying this? Eh, whatever. She's my friend now.

"Hey Aliyah?" I said. Aliyah looked over at me and said, "Yes? Do you need something from me?" I walked over to her and laid down in our bed with my robe on me with the hood on. "Oh. You're still tired? Well, it is the middle of the night..." Aliyah then fell asleep next to me. She fell fast asleep while I was still laying there awake.

"Jeez. Hehe, I'm glad I met you...Aliyah...." I said. After those words I fell back asleep.

-[Hours Later]-

"Wake up, Pearl. It's almost noon." Aliyah was already awake for a few hours now and she came back to her room during a small break to check in on Pearl. I woke up and said, "Huh...? Is it morning?" Aliyah then proceeded to open the curtains of the small window in the room.

The rays of sunlight danced over the room, illuminating all of what was darker just moments before. I yawned and got off of the bed. Aliyah had went back to her job because her 30 minute break was ending in a few minutes.

Well, I realized this earlier but didn't address it. "I need more clothing. And after shopping for clothing, I will need to get a job. Presumably, adventuring quests and the such!" I said happily. I grabbed my boots and put them on. I looked in the mirror that was sitting in the corner of the room and noticed that my hair was in an array of messiness.

I sat down and tried to untangle it manually, but it didn't work as well as I thought. So I thought of something that could save me some money. 'Hey Gem? How would I be able to learn something like earth magic? It could be helpful in many ways!' I said to Gem.

[Earth Magic can be learnt at Level 4. Other basic types of magic are also able to be learnt at Level 4. Advanced types are for Level 10 magic and above.] I was happy that Gem could help me with so many things. "Thank you!" I said happily. So now I need to go back out and kill more monsters?

I guess this would go first and I can sell the valuable parts of each monster I kill in exchange for money. Some smart thinking if I do say so myself hehe~. But seriously, let's head to the gate. I'll leave a note for Aliyah here so she knows where I'll be if I don't find her on my way out.

Well let's first go to the gate to exit this place. I opened the door of the room and stepped outside into the corridor when I saw those other two girls that shared a room with Aliyah, walking down the corridor.

"Oh! It's the little kid that Aliyah brought in." said the blue haired girl. I can tell now that I can properly see their faces that they both look like assholes. "Eh. Who cares?" said the other girl. "Come on Mary. Let's see if the kid fucked up the room much. *tch*" said the Mary who is the one with the blue hair.

'I fucking hate them already.' I said in my mind. I continued to walk and I got near them. As I walked by, Mary stuck out her leg and tripped me. My hood fell back revealing my ears. So I quickly put the hood back on and made a run for the door leading outside. 'Ah crap. Now they know! And judging by their behavior already, they probably think little of beastmen!' I said in my mind.

I got outside and ran for the gate. But due to my little legs and small stamina, I got tired about half the way there to the gate. I stopped running and tried to catch my breath.

After about a minute I started walking towards a small alley nearby. When I entered the alley, I heard some uh, "fun times" between adults happening in the building next to me. I ignored it and opened my inventory to grab my short sword. I tightened it to my waist and got out of the alley.

-[At the Gate]-

I finally got to the gate and judging by the position of the sun, it should be around 1 pm or a little later. I walked towards the place where Aliyah first found me and went through the opened gate. Now that I get a better look, the gate is around 20 wide and 40 feet tall. It's a little extravagant but oh well. At least it looks cool!

"Hey! Stop!" I turned to see the man that was checking the identity cards yesterday. What was his name? I don't know. I'll ask him now. "Yes?" I replied. He finally got up to me and said, "You're the little girl from yesterday, right? The beastman fox child?" I nodded.

"Well then since I am off duty for about another hour, come with me. If you want to leave and enter Rybim, you're going to need to get an identity card." said the man. "Oh yeah! I never got your name. By the way, my name is Mark. What's your name?" said Mark. "I'm...Pearl." I said sheepishly. I'm still shy and cautious around people. I was like this in my old world as well when meeting new people when I was younger.

-[Inside the Knight's Office building]-

Mark and I entered a rather big building. Apparently it is the office for all of the knights on stand by. It's also where I can get an identification card created. We walked inside and Mark went up to the desk clerk. I didn't listen to what they were talking about. But instead, my mind was captivated by the tank of fish they had. Some of the fish looked like one's from my world, while other's looked way different.

"Oooh." I said. Mark had noticed this and laughed a bit. After about another minute, a man with pointy ears came out of a room in the back with some papers. "Oh! Hello, sir Clift. How is your day?" said Mark. The elf man who is supposedly named Clift said, "Fine enough, Markus."

I walked over to Clift in amazement. I never thought elves would be here! I mean sure this is a typical fantasy world, but meeting an elf so early on? Hell yeah! I couldn't hide my excitement and Clift found it quite amusing. I noticed him chuckling and my face turned red, filled with embarrassment.

Clift showed me and Mark to a room. And inside the room there was a table with a floating crystal. "I am going to need you to inject your mana into that crystal, little one." said Clift. 'Ah shit. Hey Gem? How do I use mana?' I asked in my mind. [Mana can be projected out of the body willingly. You just need to find the feeling inside of you. And that, is where your mana is stored.]

'Now that I think about it, Gem is like a human with the way they talk? Eh, whatever. As long as it can help me, I don't care what they are!' I said in my mind. I walked up to the crystal and placed my hand on it. I then took a deep breath in, and exhaled.

I focused really hard to find the 'feeling' that Gem told me about. "I think I found it..." I mumbled. I then brought that feeling into my hand, and out of my body. After a few seconds the feeling started to go faster, and faster. Exiting my arm. Clift then came up to me after about another 30 seconds and pressed the crystal.

On a small elevated platform on the table, a card was being created. From my mana being sucked away, I became dizzy. So I stumbled a bit and fell on my rear. "Well here you are, little miss...Pearl." said Clift. He handed me a card an it had my age, height, name, my gender, and a picture of me.

Speaking of the name...huh? There isn't a last name? I don't care though. Mark helped me back onto my feet but I was still dizzy. I check my status and it said;

[Mana: 26/130]

Oh. So the more mana I use, my body becomes unable to move. So in that case, I could potentially enter a comatose like state and be out for a few days if it reaches 0? Not good. I'll have to keep my eyes on my mana during battle.

Let's head back to Aliyah's room to rest. It's dangerous to go out like this. I put my card away and payed the fee which was 1 gold coin. I now only have 7 gold coins and 7silver coins left. Not too much left.

Let's get going before I pass out...hehe~

This one took me some time to write and simply it was fun! Hopefully you've enjoyed this novel up until now! Bye ;)
