Chapter 56: Insisting For A Practice Combat
It's already afternoon time and I was still in my office, I really thought that my job was just to become a agent sent to various guilds to either tell them something or look for anything that we could consider illegal.
And I even though that I would only entertain major and powerful guilds but I'm mistaken. My job also included overseeing all guild, dungeon gates, looking over all awakened in the country, as well as deploy agents. And if there are rouge awakened, it is also my job to send agents to arrest them or do it my self if I think that they are too strong for our agents to deal with.
The establishment of agents, which are awakened who wants to join the Hunters Association and provide public safety, has been approved earlier. That's why my job right now becomes much more refined and sophisticated.
I really thought that this type of things should be handled by the Chairman personally, I even reacted like that when Chairman's secretary came here to explain my job, but it seems like I am mistaken.
Although I can control the agents at my will, I am not allowed to just do what I want with them. I will still need the approval of the Chairman if I will deploy them for something important.
According to his secretary, when I couldn't understand what she means and I ask her, she says that I could think of it like I am a general of an army and the Chairman is the President of the nation. I could deploy the army if it's only for menial task but I need approval for the president if I want my army to attack something.
Rules and Regulations for all awakened are still on the making so every crime that involves awakened right now has to be judged by me in person or the Chairman. And we still don't have prison for such beings so I have been ask to make some that can accommodate them.
Although magic contracts in a form of pledge and oats, is in place in every awakened who registered themselves, we are still needed since there might be some loopholes in there that they could exploit.
The research department even conducted a test to some volunteer awakened who take the oat and pledge and then ask them to do various things, and they figured out that there are several loopholes in the contract.
The best example for that is the pledge to never use your powers against anyone without a consent. If the awakened is a psychic mage, he/she could control the mind of her opponent to give consent and the contract won't even react. Also natural abilities after becoming an awakened such as enhance hearing, better eyesight, extreme senses, or mana and energy detection and many more is not considered powers by the contract. That's why it's my job to keep an eye for those awakened who would realize those loopholes and use them for crimes.
Hayss my job is becoming more and more complicated. Although guilds are still not present in our country today because they are still on the making but by thinking about it in the future gives me headache already.
Added by the fact that awakening randomly happens anytime to anyone, also give me chills since those newly awakened people who are yet to be registered could do crimes and cause destruction without someone to stop them or contracts to prevent them, just like how Charlie burned his own house with his family inside.
Laws are really important in the society and those people who are assigned to make and enforce them did not have it easy.
I drop the document that I am reading and decided to take a nap. I activated World of Creation and prepare my self for tomorrow's battle.

While I'm in a middle of recording my spells suddenly I could hear David's voice coming from the other side.
"Archie wake up"
What's up with him? I thought he already returned home after talking to his father.
I decided to stop what I was doing and return to the real world.
I woke up and saw David infront of me.
"Why are you here? I thought you already left me without even saying goodbye? Why are they here as well?"
I saw the S-rank trio behind David's back and Ms.Christine wave at me while the other 2 just smiled at me.
"Well you see all of us wanted to practice our powers before battling tomorrow. There is a difference between someone
who practice a fight and someone who does not."
David explains.
While talking I grab the document in my table and give my sign of approval for the Agent recruitment policy that the Chairman's team created.
"Didn't we discuss about it in the meeting? There's nothing we could do about it since we were going to fight tomorrow. We need to conserve our mana before the fight or we will be fighting without mana tomorrow. Well it is possible to train if we have a lot of mana stones or cores which I could use to refill your mana after training, but you know how limited the supply of it right? And we needed it all for tomorrow."
I explained.
"Father said that you can convert electricity to mana, we can use that to refill our mana after the battle."
David said while smiling. He really wants to show off his skills or maybe use his newly acquired items?
"I can but there is no electricity inside a dungeon where we have to train."
"Who said we were going to train inside a dungeon?"
He look at me with a questionable look.
"Are you stupid? If we fight outside the dungeon, the entire place will be affected and worst be destroyed. The mana here is not that thick and every matter here couldn't resist magical damage yet. I don't want to help you with this matter and I don't want you to do it either. Please forget the idea and don't cause damage to our newly restored country."
All of them have a panic look at their faces.
"You see we have an ideal place to train. It is a deserted place without a single tree nor house to damage or any property. We also secured approval from the Mayor who was assigned in that area and it was also only a few kilometers near the power generator, so we could easily go there to refill our mana." Instead of David it was Makoy who replied at me.
It seems like they are all enthusiastic in the idea of having to fight together. These people are all crazy. I expect this from someone like David since he is someone who has the reason to show off. After all he is a former member of the military and he also become a SS rank hunter, with a complete set of magical equipments. But I could not expect this from the others. According to what I've heard about them, they are just living a life of a normal person away from violence, they are suppose to be scarred when they are dealing with monsters or other hunters.
"Fine, I'll do what you want but only if you secure approval from the Department of Energy and ask them if they could spare us some of their electricity."
David then throws at me a document containing the department of energy's approval. Along with the note from the president himself stating that we are allowed to ask for everything that we deemed necessary to increase our chances of winning the battle.
It seems like everything has been prepared already when I was sleeping.
So David did not return to her ex in Davao but instead to this things while I'm busy here taking a nap.
"I guess you came here all prepared. I have no choice but to agree. You can now go and change into your combat attire, I want you to wear what you are about to wear tomorrow and bring your weapon here as well. Return here in about an hour."
"Yes sir." All of them said including David before walking out into my office.
Calling me Sir is kinda... I don't know.... but it is weird. I never been called as sir in my entire life. They probably address me like that because of the way I act earlier.
Hayyss.. Even the person that I am dating got carried away and called me sir. Gotta punish that one later.
No one is in my office now apart from me. Looking at the window, the sun is already setting out.
We will have our practice fight in a middle of the night, how amusing. Well, it's probably a good idea since we don't know if the inside of the dungeon is day or night. Dungeons are unidentifiable from the outside so we need to be prepared for everything before coming in.
I drafted plans in my mind on how our practice would be and I already created one. I also want to go to the power generator first to use the electricity there to summon my remaining items. That way I could save my mana stones.
