1 The Great Deception

Ren, A Priest from the Church of Holy light, After an enormous amount of blood, sweat and tears finally achieved the passive skill Saint Aura.

Because of this Ren was assigned to form a team to subjugate the demons. This caused a celebration among the populace as having a powerful healer will help against the fight amongst the vile creatures and of course everyone was all but thrilled to join in on their group.

It might not sound like much but it was actually a big deal since it can increase his already powerful healing.

Especially when you stack them together your party becomes tanky.

Well on to the topic..

Being sent to fight against the demon king was okay for Ren since his a priest and he loved helping people.

Even in his hometown he was already

Renowned as he had saved countless people who had undergone demonic possession , have illnesses but no money to hire a healer... etc.

Although His most noteworthy act in that village was saving the mayors daughter who later went with him to the church to become a holy knight and is now a party member.

In other words his That guy, the guy who saves everyone he can, the guy who gives in to people's pleads, the guy who looks for the good in everyone he sees even if they are bandits or criminals, so in other words he is a Goody-two-shoes.

Ren's party consist of him the healer, Sarah a holy knight as the Tank,

Alex the spearman, Nila our elven archer, Albert our mage, and finally our assassin who also serve as scout Yuki. So it's a party of 3 men and 3 females.

.....

But those are things of the past....

As of now..

he was tied in on a stone altar with only his underwear left on him.

On his left was the departing figures of his trusted teammates and On their faces, looks of relief and happiness can be seen.

Even the person he saved, his ex-lover, Sarah was now arguing on who will keep his stuff with the other party members as they brought along emy High class equipment.

As they gradually enter the dimensional portal they took one final look at me, there eyes with looks of pity and relief, relief that they are not the one who will be sacrificed ,Relief that they will get out alive.

no one turned back to look at me again.

After some time.

The statue of the Death God vibrates, I knew it was time to die.

I guess it was true, that as you face certain death a biography of your whole life will flash before your eyes.

And after recalling.. I realized I only lived my life for other people's sake.

And what do I get?

Well it was pretty obvious.

As a black energy envelops the dungeon, Effectively turning my world to a world of pitch black, I had never seen the light so clearly...In this world you should support yourself rather than others, Because there will come a time they wont need you anymore.

I closed my eyes, although it was already pitch black it helped calm my nerves.

Then as I ponder on why it was taking so long ... a voice reverberated on my mind.

[ Congratulations on receiving shadow baptism ]

[Class is changed from priest ---> Shadow priest]

[Saint aura is changed to Legacy of Void ]

[Affinity to light is decreased dramatically]

[Affinity to the darkness attribute is increased dramatically]

[lvl is reset to 1]

Hmmm I guess my bet was correct...

As he read again the words written on a broken pillar near the altar

[Sacrifice thyself and be baptized with the God of Voids power ]

As He thought on how he tricked his party members. He smirked...

He then recalled his genius plan

As they went on a exploration mission in the ruins, they suddenly get sucked out of nowhere and transported into this circular dark chamber with a statue of a Death God and an altar.

As they where fazed by the sudden teleportation I went on my way and checked the surroundings.

As I went to the rectangular shaped altar in the middle of the chamber. I felt nothing...

Well it's just as stone altar afterall.

But as I looked at the broken pillar with some text inscribed, I inferred this was one of those ancient class changing holy ground a thousand years ago.

As I read the inscription I realized this was my chance to finally graduate from being a support.

But firstly I have to fool them...this is probably a single person use since there is only 1 altar with limited space. Ren thought inwardly.

With this in mind he called out to his teammates and pointed at the inscriptions on the pillar.

Ren in a serious tone said.

[This is a Sacrificial altar, as I recalled this is a type of space you cant escape unless one of us present themselves as a human sacrifice.]

And then he pointed towards the statue.

[ As you can see it's probably a sacrifice to an unknown God]

[ Can we offer our equipments as sacrifice] the spearman Alex asked.

Ren shook his head.

After some time of words like...

[ We can solve this if we think together.]

[None of us will be sacrificed.]

[If one of us needs to be sacrificed I'd rather die here with him/her]

Those encouraging words stopped at the 4th week of their captivity.

They did not bring food so the following weeks they used mana in their bodies as sustenance but as mana cant get into this place we already used that up as well, yesterday.

After a week more they started saying that they still have loved ones , things they wanted to achieve etc.

And finally Alex couldn't take it anymore and called out the other party members.

[We need to sacrifice someone] (Alex)

[But...] (Nila)

[We will all die at this rate if this keeps up and you know it.] (Albert)

[ I already tried inspecting and climbing the place there is no escape and the walls cant be damaged by our weapons and even if they do I believe we are on a different space.] (Yuki)

[We should vote now on who to sacrifice] (Alex)

[That's too much Alex, none of us wants to die.] (Ren)

[ I agree with Ren, we have been teammates for 4 years, we can't possibly have a fall out now.] (Sarah)

Another day passed and Nila the Blonde elf, suddenly spoke up.

[ I... I think it's the...the tanks job to sacrifice themselves in this situation.]

[ So I'm sorry Sarah, I'll vote for you!]

As she said this the group became alert...

And then Albert voiced his agreement.

As Yuki was gonna raise her hand.

Alex suddenly voted.

[ I vote for Ren, healers can always be replaced since they dont affect much of our teamwork since all they do is buff and heal ]

As Yuki heard this he also voted for Ren.

As neither of them spoke... the voting went on a standstill.

Then as Sarah and Alex looked at eye to eye, as if a nonverbal agreement.

Sarah voted.
