"Bad news! The monster swarm is calculated to be at least 10,000 monsters,with 100 being A-rank monsters. Around 10 S-rank monsters and at least three monsters that are SS-rank". He said this while panting.

"What!" The leaders responded simultaneously.

"Three monsters whose strength is SS rank?" The chubby man said it with a shocked face.

"How long has it been since three SS-rank monsters showed up?" The man in robes said as his eyes widened in shock.

There was a small silence that lasted a few seconds.

"50 years" The man in armor paused and continued, "It has been 50 years since the Diterra kingdom was destroyed by three SS-rank monsters.".

"But it's different now. At that time, we didn't have SSS-ranked monster slayers. In the last 50 years, we have become way stronger than before." He said this as he looked at me.

I could already guess what they were going to do. They would send me to intercept the monsters.

"Rylan Ashencroft, can you--"

Before he could finish talking, he was interrupted by a loud horn.

They had a surprised face as they took a circular crystal out, and I could faintly hear a panicked voice.

"There is a strange monster above the barrier!"

As soon as they heard the voice, they sprinted outside the building, and I followed.

If I were in my original body, I would never have been able to see so far. But because I was in this body, even the smallest details were possible to see.

Right above the barrier was a strange, fluffy-looking monster with horns extruding out of its forehead. It had a sinister smile with sharp teeth.

Its mouth moved, but it was impossible to hear the monster from this distance.

"Could the monsters speak?"

The fluffy monster suddenly clapped its hands together.

At the same time, I could feel the earth shake as if an earthquake had appeared.

Out of nowhere, cracks started to form on the huge barrier.

"Impossible," the man in his 40s said as his eyes widened and his mouth opened in shock.

The cracks multiplied rapidly and strecthed across the barrier that covered the whole kingdom.

Then, inexplicably, a momentary pause appeared.

The pause, which lasted a few seconds, felt like an eternity. 

In an instant after the pause, the barrier broke, which unleashed a colossal shockwave that radiated outward and shook the whole kingdom.

After breaking the barrier, the fluffy creature disappeared into thin air.

'How did it break the barrier?'.

Even though the creature was far away, I could sense that it was strong.

This was a sight that would normally have my heart pound rapidly, but strangely enough, I was calm.

"What happened to the barrier?" The man in robes shouted at the circular crystal.

"We don't know." A faint, panicked voice came from the circular crystal.

"Okay relax. Do you remember the technique that I showed you to activate the barrier?" He spoke to the circular crystal.

"It doesn't matter if I remember it or not." The same panicked voice came back, but it sounded a little hopeless.

"It matters a lot; without it, we can't activate the barrier again!" The man in the robe shouted again.

"The barrier crystal is gone."

The man in the robes eyes widened,

"What?"

"There are only pieces of the barrier crystal left; it is like it was smashed by a hammer." He said it with a hopeless voice.

"That's impossible. The barrier crystal can't even get destroyed by SS rankers, so how is it possible that it's destroyed?"

"Well, what do you want me to do? I am just announcing what I am seeing.".

It looked like they were arguing, and it seemed like the barrier crystal that I saw on top of the tower had been destroyed.

Which is why they can't activate the barrier again.

"What is that?". One of the soldiers asked as he looked at the sky.

Immediately, we all looked at the sky to see what was going on.

I could see small, orange-looking objects fly toward us. As I tried to focus my eyes,

"What the f*ck?"

A bunch of meteors in flames were flying towards us with amazing speed.

The barrier was gone, and now there were meteors flying towards us.

There was no doubt about it; this was a coordinated attack.

As I stood there in awe, a transparent barrier suddenly appeared in the sky.

At the same time, I could hear the man in the robe shout.

"Mages, drop what you are doing and cast barrier magic above the kingdom." He shouted while casting his barrier.

Simultaneously, a lot of barriers showed up in the sky, but they were too weak.

They didn't have enough time to strengthen the barrier. I could already sense that the meteors up in the sky would destroy those barriers.

'I have to help too'.

I crouched low, feeling the energy run through my body. My muscles coiled as I charged my jump.

With a burst of strength, I propelled myself upward, and for a moment, I felt weightless.

The ground became smaller as I soared higher and higher into the sky. The wind rushed past me, whipping through my hair and clothes.

'This was strangely a fun feeling'.

But I had no time to think of that now.

As I reached the peak of my jump, I made a small platform to stand on.

The view was breathtaking, and I could see every corner of the land, from the soldiers below to the edge of the kingdom. Even the castle and a magic tower were visible.

And that's when I saw numerous dots far to the north.

'The monster swarm'.

I quickly raised my hands to make a barrier. It stretched across the portals, then the castle, the tower, and soon the whole kingdom.

I wanted to make a barrier like the one that covered the kingdom before.

But I didn't have enough time to strengthen it.

And as the meteors hit my barrier, I could feel it violently shake.

'Oh no, it's going to break'.

Countless more meteors were flying towards the barrier that I created.

The barrier couldn't hold on.

Soon, cracks started to form on the barrier.

I started to panic a little.
