Who Says We Need A Deal?

Omari and Amber walked over to Omari's house. Amber ended up waiting a couple of hours for Omari to change into something decent. Once he wore something decent, the both of them walked to a restaurant.

The restaurant was pretty average looking. It looked like the type of restaurant that an upper middle class man would take his wife to for a special dinner. Then again, Omari was paying with his allowance.

They ate some light food and walked out of the restaurant, their next destination an amusement park. They went on some rides and all, played a few games before retreating to the entrance of the amusement park after a few hours.

After that, they began walking aimlessly, walking through gardens, going to the park, all while talking with each other. By the end of their long conversation, the two of them had already exchanged a lot of information about each other.

"You know, I just realized something" Omari said. The two of them sat side by side on a bench in the park.

"What?" Amber asked.

"I don't have your number" Omari said.

Amber smirked. "I suppose we'll have to fix that, won't we" Her eyes flashed with a bit of malice. "That way, you won't ditch me after my matches without even a simple text"

It wasn't my fault, I had training right after and I couldn't afford to be late. Those words nearly left Omari's mouth, but he swallowed them back. He couldn't afford to act without act.

An awkward few seconds passed in silence before Omari broke it. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Amber scoffed. "Yeah, I'm alright"

"I meant about the whole scouting... process" Omari said.

Amber looked into his eyes for a few seconds. "No, I'm not okay" She said. For a moment, he thought that he saw tears well up in her eyes. "You see, I come from a rich family with five children, and unfortunately four out of those five children had to be extraordinary geniuses while the last one was average at most"

Omari opened his mouth like he was about to say something, then closed it. He didn't think it would be wise to interrupt her when she was talking.

"My oldest brother miraculously got into the state university when he was sixteen. My oldest sister already has her own fashion brand at eighteen, My younger brother represented Great Britain at the Junior Olympics last year while My younger sister, well she just finished filming her fifth five star rated movie"

Omari sucked in some air when he heard about Amber's family. He didn't know that it was possible to have that many talented individuals in one family. No wonder Amber felt overshadowed when compared to her siblings.

"I made it into one of the best schools in the planet on a scholarship, but that was just something any random kid could do so my parents didn't give me any attention. I was voted as captain to the school soccer team but it's still something any random kid could do. I started a charity organization called cover dedicated to providing good clothing to kids whose parents couldn't afford such but that was still something that any random kid could accomplish" A tear drop fell down her cheeks.

Omari stretched out his hands like he was about to wipe it off, then stopped himself, his hands dropped back to where they were previously.

"I wanted to get scouted to a professional football team so I could get my parent's approval. So that they could see that I'm special, just like the rest of the family"

Omari looked like Amber for a few seconds. Then slowly, with visibly hesitant fingers, he wiped the tears from her face. "If you ask me, I don't think you need to do anything out of the ordinary, you're special"

His words caused a slight blush to creep up her cheeks. "And you're probably not going to get scouted" Omari continued. "That's because you're playing for all the wrong reasons"

"Some people play football because they love it, football is the love of their lives. Football is their food, football is their everything. Some people play football because football helps them heal, football is their therapy, football is their medicine. Some people play football because they have dreams, dreams that they desire to fulfil. And most people play football for all those reason" Omari said. "But nobody plays football because they want their psycho crazy ass parents who are a couple of arses not to be proud of the smart, beautiful and amazing daughter that they have"

Amber nudged Omari lightly on the hand. Even though she didn't like them, she still had to defend them when someone talked bad about them. The nudge though, was the farthest she could go for them.

"Do you really mean that?" Amber asked shyly.

Omari smiled. "I do"

As soon as he said those words, his heart started beating fast. He didn't know where he got the courage to spend all those words, but he was glad he did. She needed to hear them from someone.

After a few more minutes of talking, Omari escorted Amber to her house. When they were at the doorstep, Omari hugged Amber and told her goodbye.

Immediately after taking two steps away from her house, Omari turned around. "Hey Amber?"

"Mmmn"

"There's a very big chance that I make my senior debut in a couple of weeks, and I want you to be there" Omari said.

"Sure thing" Amber smiled. "As long as you won't miss any of my matches"

Omari smiled. "Wouldn't miss it for the world" He said. All of a sudden his face turned serious. "I was wondering if we could uh... make another deal but with a catch"

Amber's smile widened. "What's the catch?"

With all the courage that he could summon, Omari walked up to Amber and said. "If I score this time... " he hesitated a bit. "We kiss"

Amber looked at him in silence for a full twenty seconds. It seemed as if the unexplainable confidence was contagious because she moved a step closer to Omari and said. "Who says we need a deal for that?"
