System's Intervention

Inside a medium sized dining table, a family of three sat round the table, eating their respective meals. The view from the window showed the moon and the stars gleaming brightly, adding to the aesthetic quality of the scene.

There were occasionall bursts of laughter coming from either of the parties eating the dinner. The laughter would be followed by another round of chatter.

"Mom, dad, I've got something to tell you" Omari said all of a sudden.

His parents neck snapped to face his direction as soon as he said those words. "What's the matter?" Chris asked.

"Well the thing is, I've been told my Teesside that big clubs , like top tier clubs are having their eyes on me" Omari said.

"That's great news!" His mother beamed. Her face formed a smile.

Chris on the other hand furrowed his brows. "It's not good news. They probably didn't expect him to get his big break this early, so they weren't prepared to cash in on him. The way things are, they're probably preparing a new contract offer with modifications to suit themselves in case there are serious buyers" Chris looked at Omari. "The only way I'm wrong is if they've already sent you a draft for the contract"

Omari was stunned for a few seconds. "You actually got it. Spot on" He muttered under his breath.

"If that's the case, then you probably want one of the company lawyers to take a look at it before you put pen to paper" Chris continued.

Omari nodded. Chris sighed. "Alright then. Tomorrow, you and I are going to an agency"

"Why?" Omari raised his brows.

"Well, we can't keep having my lawyers read your drats. And when you start getting offers, you can't meet with every single club making you offers" Chris said.

"I was kind of hoping maybe you and mum would handle that stuff" Omari said.

"Bollocks talk. I don't have time for that, I'm a very busy man as you must know". He turned to Omari's mum and grinned sheepishly. "And your mum can't be your representative. She would hardly understand one word they're saying"

"Wanker!" Omari's mum showed a middle finger to his dad.

Omari smiled we he saw the display between his parents.

The family of three finished eating their dinner, and they retreated back to their respective abodes. Omari had an ice bath and lay on his bed.

He was thinking about the contract and everything when a bell chime sounded in his head.

Ding! Host has been given new mission

Sign a new five year contract with Teesside Fc

Rewards: System induced match day bonus, x5 randomly allotted stats

Omari raised his eyebrows when he read the notification. The system wanted him to sign a new contract with Teesside. He could guess that it was due to the limited game time that he would get in bigger clubs, but why about the rewards.

"System, what do you mean by induced match day bonuses. Is it going to be some clause injected into my contract or something?" Omari asked.

Ding: System induced match day bonus: A small reward given by the system depending on the type of contract just has signed with it. Match day rewards are random and vary from random increase in stats to gaining titles

Omari's mouth almost started watering when he heard the rewards promised by the system. Basically, all he had to do was win a match and he would get the same calibre of rewards that he's normally get for completing missions that would usually take him a large amount of time.

Before Omari could start rejoicing at his fortune however, the system's notification rang again and burst his bubble.

Of course host did not expect that random stat increase to be in the same level as when a mission is completed. A match day minus stat increase ranges from point one to point five, depends on how lucky you are. The titles however, if you win them then consider yourself lucky

Omari's eyelids twitched. From what the system said, the stat increase was basically slightly better than nothing. As for the title, it said that he could still get it if he was lucky. The key words were 'if he was Lucky'. That meant that there was a next to zero chance of him winning one.

With the fact that the system already promises him a match day bonus should be sign the contract, there was no longer any doubt in Omari's mind.

The fact that the system said he should sign the contract, even putting enticing bonuses to get him to sign the contract, it really wanted him to sign the contract.

With all what the system had done for him so far, he decided that since it wanted him to sign a new contract, there was no harm in doing so, hence, his mind was made up.

He reread the draft of the contract that Michael had sent him one more time. When he was done, he out it away with a smile on his face. The clauses on the contract were really nice. The only thing he didn't like was the terribly low salary.

It's okay Omari, your salary will only increase as you keep going. Even if it doesn't, your parents are rich as fuck. You can just keep playing football for as long as you want.

With an even former resolve than before, Omari put down his phone with the mind of signing the contract with Teesside.

This night, he didn't have any difficulty sleeping. In fact, he fell asleep almost as soon as he laid on his bed.
