Finding Allies

The door soon knocked as Ana had predicted. Her face had a wicked smile but her eyes were soulless, her face numb and her heart was devoid of any emotion.

For a second, she had felt pity for Luca.. but this was a war and she could not save everyone even if she wanted.

"Come in!" The voice came out feeble and full of pain. She winked and her eyes went shut when Luca entered the room.

He was followed by the physician who was frowning when he entered the room.

"Did i not tell you that you can not roam around. You only need to speak if needed and you must not stretch your face muscles and you must not run amok. Is it so difficult to rest for a noblewoman who did not need to work to support her family?" The man was calloused with his words and expressions as he glared at Ana who blinked.

"You seem oddly informal as a physician who did not even belong to my husband." she chuckled only to earn another glare from him.
