137 Chapter 138 : New Prophecy!

Jiraiya believed that only a momentous event warranted the Great Toad Sage's personal presence.

After all, encountering the Great Toad Sage was a rare occurrence.

The venerable sage gazed at Jiraiya, slowly exhaling green smoke before speaking in a deliberate manner:

"Though it may not be directly linked to the Son of Prophecy, I sense a disruptor or force altering the course of this world."

"An entity?" Both Jiraiya and Fukasaku regarded the Great Toad Sage with perplexity.

Without addressing their inquiries, the Great Toad Sage continued, "I had a peculiar dream yesterday. It revealed recent changes in the world, a dream unlike any I've had in a long time. In this dream, I witnessed an unusual prophecy unfold."

As the Great Toad Sage spoke, his tone fluctuated with a sense of urgency.

"In the dream, a small spark ignited amid the clamor of countless people, accompanied by the cries and shouts of many. The flames grew, engulfing everything in their path."

"An unimaginably tragic war unfolded, consuming the entire world. Civilians across the ninja world found themselves entangled in the conflict, with no corner untouched. No one in the ninja world could escape its reach. Death and the fires of war threatened to consume the entire ninja world like never before."

"Major and minor nations, neutral or powerful, all found themselves swept up in it."

"The scale and depth of this war surpassed even the most ferocious ninja conflicts."

The Great Toad Sage's tone involuntarily took on a solemn quality.

Jiraiya and Toad Fukasaku were both taken aback.

This was an unprecedented prophecy, more serious than any before.

Even previous prophecies regarding the Son of Prophecy never reached such extremes.

The Son of Prophecy typically had two potential outcomes – one of destruction, the other of rebirth and peace. Proper guidance could tilt the odds towards peace in the ninja world.

Jiraiya was confident in guiding his disciple towards such a peaceful path.

Yet, this time, the Great Toad Sage spoke of an overwhelming war with no room for choice.

Jiraiya struggled to accept this harsh reality. Finding the Son of Prophecy had always seemed like the key to restoring peace.

How had an unprecedented war suddenly erupted, sweeping the entire ninja world? And how was it unavoidable for everyone?

"So, all major countries, including Konoha, and all the major hidden villages will be drawn into this unprecedented tragic war..."

Jiraiya felt a sense of panic. Everything he held dear, including Konoha, was at stake. Optimism seemed impossible in this situation.

"Why? What's the reason? What could lead to such a severe war? Is it related to the Son of Prophecy?"

"I don't know," the Great Toad Sage replied faintly.

Jiraiya stood frozen. "Don't know?"

Don't know?

What kind of answer was that?

"Yes, I don't know. I only sense that countless people are involved in this war. Many are cheering for it, even singing its praises."

"They claim they're going to overthrow everything that has brought the ninja world down and rebuild everything..."

As he spoke, a hint of fear flashed in the Great Toad Sage's eyes.

He appeared to be contemplating something once again. "In the dream, whether it's the ninja world, the myriad Summoning beasts, Three Great Sage Region, or even the earth, ocean, and sky—all are enshrouded in war.

"Even the moon above was reversed, and everything commenced in that conflict!

"I noticed a figure standing there, colossal and formidable, observing the events unfold. He was the instigator and leader of this world-sweeping war.

"Who is he? Who could it be?" Jiraiya inquired eagerly.

The Great Toad Sage shook his head helplessly, "I don't know. I only saw a pair of eyes, mysterious and regal, radiating a purple aura, like stars veiled around his form. I couldn't discern him clearly."

"And then?" Jiraiya pressed on, believing that more clues would make it easier to locate the destroyer.

The Great Toad Sage paid no heed to Jiraiya's question, gazing straight ahead with a solemn expression.

"As I tried to get a closer look, as I attempted to discern his appearance, he seemed to sense something. Suddenly, his eyes locked onto me, fixating on me."

"A formidable pressure emanated from him. I could only see those eyes focused on me. Dangerous! My body alerted me. The next moment, I woke up abruptly."

The Great Toad Sage finally divulged, picking up his pipe once again, puffing clouds, and exhaling a long breath.

Evidently, that dream had stirred him profoundly.

"As for the one who will bring absolute destruction to the ninja world today, the harbinger of complete devastation, I sense that he is currently in the Land of Fire, but I don't know where exactly... You must investigate thoroughly. Please, Jiraiya, my dear..."

Jiraiya's face mirrored his confusion. In the Land of Fire? It was vast, with countless inhabitants. How could he possibly narrow down the search? Was the threat within Konoha?

Impossible. Could such a formidable adversary exist among the people of Konoha?

If so, where were they? Such a fearsome figure...

"Great Toad Sage, I..." Jiraiya began, looking up.

"Huh... huh..."

Only the gentle grunting of the Great Toad Sage could be heard from his perch.

Jiraiya couldn't discern whether the prophecy was true or if the Great Toad Sage was merely jesting with him.

Toad Fukasaku and Jiraiya locked eyes for a moment, and finally, Toad Fukasaku spoke somewhat helplessly.

"Little Jiraiya, after each such prophetic dream, the elder falls into a deep slumber. These prophecies deplete his energy, so let the elder rest for now.

"Oh, I understand, but the Land of Fire is enormous, and there are countless ninjas. How can I find it... It's truly challenging; I can only do my best."

Jiraiya's sigh echoed in the hall.

He couldn't guarantee the existence of any clues. The Land of Fire was vast, concealing all sorts of skilled individuals. Moreover, he wasn't even certain if the threat was male or female. Checking each one individually would be exhaustive.

In this regard, he could only resort to his old methods, relying on his own efforts to investigate and gather information.

Considering this, Jiraiya contemplated heading directly back to Konoha to search for clues.

Toad Fukasaku pondered for a moment and halted him, "Little Jiraiya, facing such a formidable opponent, even with clues, you might not be able to defeat him. So, let's fortify your strength first.

"Don't be hasty at this moment; it was already perilous, and now, with this change, it becomes even more precarious. Next, I will comprehensively teach you Sage Mode, and the entire Mount Myōboku will assist you in mastering it.

"At that point, even if you can't triumph, relying on Sage Mode will significantly enhance your ability to conceal yourself, making it much easier to gather information..."
