67 Reviewing and further developments

An hour later, Savine arrived at her inn. She entered her room and found Boss sprawled on the bed. Seeing Savine, he quickly sat up straight, just like a kid that got caught by his parents.

"Young Lady…" he tried to get up.

Savine waved him down and threw the two boxes of Vasas onto her bed. She changed into something more comfortable and picked the box that the Sovereign had gifted her.

She picked up two pieces from it and directed her untamed mana into it.

"Young Lady, wait!" Boss got up.

"Don't worry."

"No, you mustn't use two at the same time, you'll lose control over everything!"

Savine ignored him and continued.

Boss could only pace back and forth next to her, looking genuinely worried. Savine knew it was fake, that he just wanted to latch onto Savine because she looked promising, but Savine wasn't going to judge him for that. In fact, she was glad he was willing to come out of his shell. At first, he was like a cat that was brought out of his home, but after two days, he was getting used to his situation.

A couple minutes later, the two Vasas were filled. Finished with the initial acclimatization to the new parts, Savine brought out her original one and held it together with the two new ones. Slowly, they merged together and formed a rather thick Vasa.

They could be made smaller after Savine completely acclimatizing to them.

When she was finished, Boss spoke up.

"Young lady, that was extremely dangerous. I know you want to start using your mana as soon as possible, but using two new Vasas at the same time is too risky."

"Don't worry about me," Savine said.

She picked the one Vasa left inside the Sovereign's box and put it in the box the pope gave her. The action was quick, but Boss still saw a glance of the box's content.

"Was that… ten Vasas?"

Savine smiled.

"Like I said, don't worry about it."

Realizing he was acting out of line, Boss meekly sat back down onto his chair.

"Uh, Miss Eliseline said we'll be headed back tomorrow morning."

"There's no queue to Erst?"

"No, since no one's moving their wares like Marquis Luckner."

"Ah. Alright."

Savine stretched and lied down on the bed. Lazily, she brought out a piece of paper and started writing. She needed to sort things out, as too many things happened today.

'1. The deal with the Temple is concluded - but the real work's just starting.'

'2. There are Living Obsidian in this world - I want to hunt them.'

'3. Supreme beings on the other side of the barrier - need more clarifications.'

'4. I now have a business relation to the pope. He worships the supreme beings.'

'5. The Sovereign and Kin are friendly with me, but they're suspicious of my origins.'

'6. There might've been an angel who came here previously.'

'7. There's an Arrakis Continent full of Augmented Mages.'

'8. A Mister Oran might come to Fest to check up on me.'

'9. I got 8 Vasas from this trip and if nothing happens, I'll have access to almost half my mana after a month. When Oran comes, he might bring extra Vasas, as I requested in the letter.'

'10. I want Divinity.'

"It was a busy day…" she muttered, looking at the list.

She crossed off the less problematic stuff and things outside her influence and was left with two points: The Living Obsidian and the Sovereign's suspicion of her.

If she could convince someone to let her hunt the Living Obsidian, that would settle the deal. They were scary, but not that deadly provided one knew the right spells. In worlds that developed guns, they were an endangered species due to how frequently they were hunted.

As for the Sovereign's suspicion of her… though it was worrying, there was nothing Savine could do about it. She didn't know who his agents were and she also didn't know what kind of information she should hide.

<Your Majesty I've found something important on the girl.>

As she was thinking, Kin's voice entered her mind.

<What? >

<Since she came in priest's garbs, I asked our agent the Temple for information, and coincidentally, he was also preparing a big report me,> Kin cleared his throat. <Earlier in the morning, she entered temple with Duke Fest and duchy's High Bishop presented her inventions.>

Savine sent her consciousness towards the palace. There, he saw Kin talking to the Sovereign and near the palace's entrance, he saw a familiar face.

'Ah... So he wasn't a pig teammate, after all. He was never on the pope's side in the first place.'

She saw the bishop that almost attacked her waiting patiently in a hidden room near where Kin usually worked.

<Inventions? What inventions?>

Kin dutifully explained everything that occurred in the morning, from Eliseline's presentation, to the details of the inventions, to Savine's bargaining and the agreed upon price.

There was a long silence after Kin finished reporting everything.

<Your Majesty?>

<Who is that girl?>

<The agents from the Magicracy sent another report. In commoners' area, a white-haired girl briefly taught children and held sermons. She called herself God's Chosen. Everyone in area knows her, but aside few smaller points, is known about her.>

<What? >

<She's boundlessly rich, smarter than all, more charismatic the Great Magi themselves, and everyone who was doubtful of her title convinced completely after visiting once.>

<God's Chosen?>

<Yes. Our agents also said that the Magicracy's people are searching for her, but they're not very successful. Apparently, she was briefly in a rich merchant's house, merchant has been missing quite while now.>

Savine frowned. No wonder she hadn't heard anything from Vevian.

Also, she was very surprised at how adept the Sovereignty's espionage system was. They definitely had some way to send information instantaneously, and their agents seem adept as well.

<Sigh… She asked if she could touch the Divine Tree. What do you think was trying to do?>

<What did she say herself?>

<Said she was just curious.>

<What books did she read?>

<A few. One on the development of magic and another history Sovereignty. The rest were random books old times.>

<Did she act suspiciously or anything like that?>

<No. The only odd thing I found was how absorbed she in the books. She sat completely still for two hours before finishing a 300-page book. From questions asked and her talk afterwards, definitely read book's content. So outwardly, there's nothing suspicious.>

<… >

<… >

<Should I bring her to you?> Kin asked.

<… >

<Your Majesty?>

<No. >

<Understood. I shall at least try to put one of my men near her then.>

<Alright. Also keep an eye on Fest's merchants.>

The conversation ended with that.

Savine wondered if she should do anything. But thinking about it all, she wasn't really doing anything illegal. There wasn't really a need to worry.

She glanced at Boss, who was sitting primly on his bed. Smiling, she made another mana motor and went to sleep, wondering what conclusion Zuri reached.
