Diana's point of view

"Wow! How do you feel, sweetie? But... where has the groom gone? We can't seem to find him anywhere!" My father appeared concerned and shocked. It was my wedding day, and I was the one who was supposed to be waiting for the groom. Yes, I knew they thought he'd run away, but as his best friend, I was confident he'd return.

It's just that I knew exactly where he was. He was at the stadium, watching a baseball game! So, yes, he didn't tell me, and it wasn't the right time to go to the game, but we'd been friends since we were kids for seventeen years. So I knew him better than I knew myself.

"Don't worry, Adam didn't run away," I said with a smile. He'll come after you..." "After 3o minutes from now," I paused and checked my wristwatch.

They all took a look around. "Where is he?" my father asked, his brow furrowed.

"Dad, I need to finish my makeup," I shrugged. " Adam is on his way."

I was certain. He would never abandon me at the altar. He would never hurt his best friend's feelings.

The entire family appeared to be under stress. The priest had been waiting for an hour, and I had even finished my makeup and was dressed in my white wedding gown.

The priest had been waiting for an hour, and I had even finished my makeup and was dressed in my white wedding gown. My bridesmaids, one of them assumed. "I don't think he'll show up." Sarah's words were a little abrasive. She was one of my newest acquaintances. We met in college a few months ago and hit it off right away. She may have known me well, but she had no idea about Adam. At least, that's what I assumed.

"Sarah, Adam loves me, and he will definitely come," I said, annoyedly glaring at her.

Sarah, on the other hand, scoffed, "really! I don't believe he loves you. And where has he gone? Then call him." She kept putting a strain on my nerves. But my heart told me to relax because Adam would never break my heart.

"I know where he is," I sighed. " He's going to the baseball game. It's the season's final game, and it's crucial. He'll return in thirty minutes." "And that proves that he doesn't love you," I explained, and Sarah stood up and widened her eyes in surprise. " I'm sure he's never told you how much he adores you."

And she was completely right. Adam and I had been friends since we were babies, nearly two decades. We had been so close, but he had told me several times as a child that he loved me. He had several affairs, but none of them were serious. That broke my heart, but I was still at ease because he was always there for me. "Sarah, he loves me." I was the one who knew his pain and his darkest secrets, and he was the same to me. " At the very least, he doesn't have feelings for another girl." In a confident tone, I said.

"You're deceiving yourself," Sarah said, rolling her eyes. " This is merely an arranged marriage."

And my other friend cut her off indignantly, "Stop saying shit, Sarah. " He adores her. He would never marry Diana if he didn't love her."

"And he didn't come until now," Sarah insisted.

I began to feel irritable. What if Adam didn't show up to our wedding? What if he didn't really want to marry me? What if he had another girl in his life and didn't tell me about it?

I started freaking out when I called him on his cellphone, and he didn't answer. I decided to shake off the evil thoughts and check my makeup and hair in the full-length mirror, putting on a fake smile and saying, "Calm down, Diana. Adam will arrive. Don't worry. He'd never jeopardize losing you as his best friend." I said to myself internally, comforting my heart.

I walked back and forth, hoping to see Adam. Until I lost hope that he would show up. The match had ended, but he had not yet appeared. It was my special day. Every girl fantasizes about the day she marries her soul mate, puts on her white gown, says "I do," and kisses the groom. When her groom sweeps her off her feet and holds her in his arms. But I was there waiting for my best friend, the only one for whom my heartbeat, the only one I ever loved. I was waiting in vain until I heard everyone outside shouting, "The groom has arrived!"

I exhaled a sigh of relief and turned to face Sarah, saying with raised brows and a proud smile, "I told you! Adam adores me."

I couldn't stand the tension any longer. I lifted my dress's tail and stepped out of my room and into the house's garden, where we held the wedding. "Adam, where have you been?" asked adam, who came hurrying to my side.

Adam was startled and leaned in close to my ears, "sorry, I was..." I knew he was going to lie he I scratch his back when he felt awkward. I cut him off, gritting my teeth, "don't lie, I know it was the season finale, but you should have told me." They were anxious. They even though you despised me and fled."

"I don't hate you," Adam said as he stared at me. Yes, perhaps, but even on our wedding day, he couldn't say, 'I love you.'

But being his wife and living with him under the same roof was more than enough for me. I was certain that as time passed, he would fall more in love with me.

"You wore the shirt and the jacket on your baseball team shirt!" As I stood on my heels and faced him, I said, then helped him button his shirt, fix his suit collar, and adjust his tie. " Oh my goodness! Adam, you're a moron." I let out a light chuckle in disbelief; he was unpredictable.

"I didn't have much time," he scratched the tip of his nose. " So I wore it in the car's backseat. Please accept my apologies if I caused you concern. Diana, I really..". He paused, he seemed concerned about something, and for the first time in my life, I couldn't figure out what was going through his mind.

"So, Adam, what is it?" I cupped my hands around his cheeks.

"Are you sure, Diana?" he inhaled and exhaled. " I mean, you're still in your second year of college, whereas I'm in my final year. So we're both too young to get married right now. Apart from that..." He paused.

"Adam, I love you," I said as tears streamed down my cheeks. " That was a day I had always hoped for. I can't imagine my life without you. So why did you ask me to marry you if you don't love me?"

"I was just asking you to make sure that you would never regret marrying me later," he wiped my tears and kissed my forehead.

Then he took my hand and led me to the priest. We were being watched by all of the guests and our families. Our house was on the beach, with white flowers on the sides, chairs in white and gold, and tables in the same colors. Because it was springtime, the sun was warm. It was the happiest day of my life. Everything went swimmingly.

"I announce you as husband and wife, and you may kiss the bride," the priest said. I was the one who jumped at the chance to kiss Adam's lips. But it was only a tiny kiss. Adam was sweating and appeared bewildered and uncomfortable as if he was embarrassed. I assumed Adam acted this way because his father's health deteriorated, and he was concerned about him. But, unfortunately, that was not the case. Everything became clear to me as time passed.
