Sarah slammed the apartment door shut behind her, her back hitting the cold wood with a thud. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the image of her supposed best friend, Betty, walking out moments earlier. Betty, the one person Sarah confided in about Bobby and the whole messy situation, had betrayed her trust in the worst way possible.

Sarah sobbed and fell on the couch, "I can't imagine she told him everything." Anxiously waiting, Derrick hurried to her side, his expression filled with worry.

He pulled her gently into an embrace and said, "Hey, hey, what happened?" A tiny bit of solace against the tempest of feelings storming inside her was provided by the warmth of his embrace.
