Chapter 48

“We’ll take a cab to the museum,” said Arielle, putting on her raincoat. “It’s raining too hard even to walk the few blocks to the subway.” It was only a short ride, and as we got out of the car at the museum, I carefully held the umbrella over Arielle’s head, knowing she would worry about her hair and make-up. I was out in the world with my lady, and I wanted everyone to be in awe of her and jealous of me.

The museum was absolutely fascinating. Such a large place, full of so many things. The Mona Lisa, the Greek statue Winged Victory, the French painters, the large collection of Greek and Egyptian art. It seemed to me that someone could spend a lifetime coming here and never see the same thing twice. It also seemed to me an indication of how wealthy France must be compared to my part of the world.
