CHAPTER THREE THE KICK

I slept like a baby till morning , until my stomach started being a nuisance, I am awake I remove the blanket from my body. I noticed my nightgown was stained in blood. Wait am seeing my period and having cramps in a dream?! .

Helen enter the room without knocking well she's my chamber maid. she asked "The prince has left?" and she looked at my nightgown and her hands held her mouth and said " was the prince that harsh I know its your first time but the blood is too much, are you hurt, are you in pain?" she came and sat on the bed to comfort me I replied " No am fine its just my period, I mean monthly flow and we didn't do anything last night and how did you know the prince was in my bed room?" she cleared her throat " I saw him sneaking into your room and I thought you and him had done the deed, but thank goodness, I wonder who would loose so much blood at their first time sleeping with a man". I blushed and explained to her the events of last night " The prince entered the room and said his father wanted grand children, Immediately and I told him it was not proper and not ready yet" I wanted to continue but I can't trust Helen yet. Helen smiled I took off the stained night gown and helped me to a big wooden bathing tub which she filled with warm water .

Helen brought a sponge and soap and dropped it in the tub and said"its alright dear, its normal when your ready . I understand but if you want to sleep with him come to me for advice, My husband waited for me before we did it." Then I removed my gown and entered the tub and dropped the night gown in a basket , which Helen later carried and dropped beside my door and put the other gowns I wore yesterday so she could wash them. I didn't allow her to aid me with my bath. I did it myself she asked me to hurry up and wear a gown because the ring maker is going to be here soon. I was done bathing , I really enjoyed it ,she gave me a clean little cotton material like a cloth to put where I bled. And I wore the black underwear she selected for me but I didn't agree to wear a corset , it would not be pleasant for my stomach.

Its my stomach's resting time I wore a black long gown because I preferred,wearing black on my period, I most times wore black in the real world . I am more comfortable in black during periods. She brought a tonic she said it would help with the pain .I combed my hair and put it in a bun and I laid on the bed after taking it . it tasted really bad what could I say the best medicines aren't really sweet are they ?. Helen gave me a book to read. I stayed on the bed reading until she brought breakfast it was bread and scrambled eggs, it was delicious, I ate it and thanked her and laid on the bed , reading the book the book name is "Midnight summer dream" by William Shakespeare . And I was patiently waiting for the ring maker to come. Someone knocked on my door and I said "enter", it was Michael dressed in a fine blue trousers and a simple blue tunic , his black hair neatly combed backwards. He looked at me and said " I asked Helen how you were doing because I didn't see you in the garden, she said you were not yourself she said you were seeing your monthly flow. And I came here to know how you are doing. How are you?".

My good God ,Helen she told him about my period hmm she seems to be loyal to him and quite a talkative and definitely his spy. I replied " I am fine , do you want something? ". " No I don't , I just wanted to see how you were doing and since the ring maker is coming here because of your situation I am going to stay here with you", OK that's fine I sighed " fine but please don't do anything, I want peace and quiet" . He nodded and found a seat and brought it closer to the my bed. He sat down and said " Am sorry I went to far yesterday ", I nodded and smiled " its alright " . The events of last night played on my mind, it was amazing. The prince asked me "what I was reading", I replied " Midnight summer dream , its an interesting book".

And I continued "Do you really want this marriage?, or are you just trying to please your father, Do you even love me ? " oh my gosh it totally came out wrong , I can't believe I said that . He eyes widened and replied " I want this marriage, it would be better for both our kingdoms " yeah he was speaking like a politician , he didn't answer the remaining questions and I asked " Do you love someone else? " his eyes flashed and the door opened you got to be kidding , why doesn't Helen knock but instead of Helen it was the ring maker . He was an old man, he bowed and took the measurements of our fingers, and told us to choose the colour of the ring either silver or gold we chose silver after that the ring maker left, The prince left soon after that .He bowed and wished me " better health".

It took a few more minutes before Helen came in with a woman without knocking again and informed me it was the seamstress and she showed me the designs of her dresses and asked me to choose. I was reluctant to choose but thanks to Helen's persuasion. I looked at the designs , they were pretty good, I chose a design it was flawless . Dream or no dream I always wanted to look beautiful on my wedding day . The seamstress took my measurement and left. I slept after that Helen woke me up to eat lunch. While she served me lunch it was tomato soup , I asked " Does the prince love someone or Did he love someone " she sighed and looked at. me" Does it really matter now, you are marrying him."

I nodded " yes it matters, just please tell me does he love anyone?" she frowned " yes he loves a girl so dearly because when he found out about this marriage, he tried every means possible to end it but all failed." I asked " who is the girl he loves so deeply and how did you know ?" . She smiled " The lady is a daughter of a duke , and a year older than you and oh how I found out , I am friends with the King's advisor". I nodded and was aware the prince had a lover isn't that thrilling? and I asked " When did he stop fighting his father about this marriage? " ,she replied "Not too long ago like six months ago" . I sighed " how long have they been together ". Helen smirked and said " I don't really know, I heard a rumour that they meet in secret like a year ago , and make love to each other , What a scandal don't you think, well am going to take my leave , please eat up, so you can regain your strength" .

She left I ate my tomato soup and thought since am here where ever this place is, even though am in a dream . The prince is my fiancé after all, I am going to try my best to make him fall for me even though its going to be difficult. What am I even doing I don't even know him , lost in my thoughts . Someone knocked and a male servant came into my room after I told him to enter and informed me that the prince want to see me ,I nodded.

At least I have some energy , the servant waited until I got off the bed and we left my room and I followed the servant until we got to the prince's door. The servant bowed and left I entered the room and I saw the prince standing his back facing me and he said "I don't know why you ask about my love life,its not your business but you keep prying into it" . So Helen is indeed a bitch and a spy. I replied " I don't know how much you pay or what you tell Helen , so she will tell you everything. Look who is saying mind your business, your clearly not minding yours" The prince turned to my direction and walked till he was in front of me and said " its best you mind your business now, or you won't like the outcome" , you got to be kidding me his threatening me. Immediately I had so much confidence I came closer to his face and said " No it is you that won't like the outcome, and since we are getting married soon I don't want you to have any lovers, if not I will have mine and I will sure we make love and when am with child, you will question if the child is yours and don't you ever threaten me again ,"I poke his chest. I turned to leave his room his arms grabbed my waist and we moved closer to the bed and he pushed me on the bed, and grabbed my hands and held it above my head on the bed and whispered into my ear " you wouldn't dare" .

I smiled and kicked him in the groin and watched his face twist in pain he let go of my hands, and I pushed him off me and I headed towards his door. Still heading towards the door , and I smirked at his direction and said "I would dare" and left his room . I returned to my room.
