Time to cook!

"There's MORE work?" Kaito complained, I told him he would make the rice as well and he seems to be on the verge of a mental breakdown. "Rice and pancakes are one of the easiest things to make so don't whine about it." he looked relieved for a moment then asked, "Why didn't we go to the store for bacon and pancake mix?" I mixed the dry ingredients together.

"The stores don't open until 7 and I need breakfast done by 8 because everyone is awake by 8:30 and pancakes made from scratch are better in my opinion, can you pass me the milk?" he gave the milk to me and paid close attention when I added the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.

"Do you follow a specific recipe?" I threw away the egg shells and answered, "Yes I do, it's grandma's recipe," just as I was about to start making the pancakes Mom came downstairs.

"Mom we got you the tusks you needed," I told her as I started on the first pancake. "That was faster than usual, I only told you that I need them last night!" her eyes wandered the kitchen until she saw the bacon.

"So you decided to kill two birds with one stone," she wasn't asking but I nodded anyways "The tusks are in the living room," I told her while looking for Kaito who was making the second batch of pancake batter. "Do you know how many one batch makes," I asked as I buttered the pan for the next pancake, "No, am I supposed to know?" he asked me as he measured the milk in the cup.

"One batch makes 12 pancakes, it'll make cooking a lot easier if you know how much a recipe makes that way you can cook the right amount of food," he nodded looking as if he was memorizing his lines for a play. "Don't forget to make the rice Kaito." he looked like he had been punched in the stomach, "I thought you would forget about the rice!" he whined and finished mixing the wet and dry ingredients together.

"Why would I forget, it was my idea after all." he got out the pot and started to pour in some water. "From now on I'm only helping you make lunch." he said as he lit the stove and placed down the pot. "What kind of eggs do you want?" I asked. "Scrambled," Kaito said, "Hard boiled," Mom said, so I decided to make both.

Kaito was finishing his batch of pancakes and I was cooking the bacon while the rice and eggs cooked. Kaito finished making the pancakes and checked on the rice the turned off the stove. "Can you get me another plate for Riku please," I served everyone else besides me and Riku. Kaito gave the plate to me and put rice on the others.

Mom came back to eat "Why are you up so early cooking Kaito?" she asked him as she grabbed a plate. " I want to learn how to cook," he answered her and took a plate for himself. Mom didn't seem too shocked at his response, he always tried to do different things for experience so his acting seemed more real.
