21 Starting the Day of a Village Chief

"I'm late!"

A young boy suddenly jumped out of the bed. His eyes fluttered and then he shook his head.

"I didn't expect to sleep like this. My mind feels a lot clear." Gu Tan clenches his fist and slowly loosens it. Then, he quickly changes his dress and walks out wearing a blue and white shirt and pant combo.

"Oh, you finally woke!" A surprised voice rang from the side. It belonged to none other than Gu Chen. He walks towards his son while holding a bag.

"Huh! What do you have in this bag?" Gu Tan stares at the bag with surprise and asks.

"Of course, it has your clothes and your little things. From today, you will be staying at the house of the council. It is already the afternoon. Two girls from the Zhao family are waiting for you outside and there is another girl waiting outside." Gu Chen smiled as he handed the bag to Gu Tan.

"If you hadn't woken up, I would have dragged you out of the bed." Saying so, Gu Chen walked away though there was some troubled look on his face.

Gu Tan knows why Gu Chen was feeling trouble. After all, Gu Tan was now going to live a life of a Village Chief while being ten years old. This made Gu Chen extremely uncomfortable especially when the responsibility of the entire village is now on his son's shoulder.

Gu Tan sighed and walked outside. For some reason, his mother didn't come to meet him at all. Even till he reached in front of the gate. This made him a little suspicious. But, it's not like he was leaving the village. So, he didn't think too much and walked out of the room.

As he walked out, he saw five girls waiting outside the house. Three of them were not surprising since they were mentioned by his dad. But, seeing Kao'er and her sister, he was quite surprised.

"Village Chief, you finally arrived. We were waiting for you." As soon as Gu Tan walked out, Zhao Yin came rushing towards him. Although she wanted to call him by his name, she was scolded by her mother the entire morning and taught to call him village chief.

Even Gu Tan was surprised by hearing that title from her mouth.

"Yin'er, you didn't have to wait here for me. But, now that I am here, let's head towards the House of Council. By the way, are you also coming with me, Kao'er?" Gu Tan turned his head at Kao'er and asked. Because he was only five feet, he had to raise his head to look at her eyes.

"Yes, Village Chief! I was sent by a mistress to take care of your daily needs. Since you will be busy handling the village work, she thought you wouldn't get time to come home for eating. So, she sent me for cooking, laundry, and cleaning the house." Kao'er slightly bowed and answered.

She was holding a bag of clothes in one hand and her sister's hand in another.

Gu Tan nodded his head and turned at Little Kao'er. He smiled and said "You can skip today and spend time with little Kao'er. She needs your company more than others."

Kao'er was startled. She made a serious look on her face, and bowed "Thank you very much, Village Chief!"

"Thank you very much, Village Chief!" Little Kao'er also bowed and thanked him with a soft and sweet voice.

Gu Tan smiled at her and turned his head at Yu Cao, speaking.

"You must have a lot of questions in your head. But, don't worry, I will answer each of them. First, let's move on to the house of the council and then talk."

Yu Cao was also holding a bag of clothes. She was wearing a light blue dress from the top to bottom. Her clothing was slightly loose and designed beautifully, complimenting her looks.

Hearing his words, Yu Cao nodded her head and suddenly turned her head to the right. She sensed an extremely threatening aura from the right. But just as she turned her head, Gu Tan also turned his head and the aura instantly disappeared.

Zhao Yin stood in front of him holding a bag in her hand. Gu Tan and the group finally left towards the house of the council.

Inside his main house,

"Sob! Sob! Sob!"

"You know, he is not leaving the village." Gu Chen stood behind Gu Shui. She was sitting on a bed, weeping tears from her eyes.

"Hic! But….. I have never left him alone…." Gu Shui shuttered while crying over her legs.

"Don't worry, we can visit him every day if you want. And, isn't he already surrounded by girls as you wanted for a long time? There is nothing to worry about. He can handle everything." Gu Chen slowly crouched down and fondles her hair while convincing her.

Slowly, her tears started drying up as no extra tears were shed from her eyes. She turned her head and stare at him, asking "You are not angry at me anymore?"

Gu Chen shook his head and said "How can I get angry my wife? And, I don't have to worry about Gu Tan. There is no reason for me to be angry now."

"So, you were angry before?" Gu Shui's voice died as she asked.

"A little bit!" Gu Chen nodded his head wrapped his hand around her, and continued "Don't worry, I can never get too angry at you. By the way, how is your Yin Source? Is it recovering quickly now?"

"No! It will improve only when his bloodline makes a breakthrough. By the way, aren't you going to break through into the eighth stage soon?" Gu Shui shook her head and asked.

Gu Chen shook his head and spoke "No, I can't. Gu Tan told me that I will have greater chances to awaken the Elemental Vein in the lower realm. So, he asked me to stay at the seventh stage for the next six months."

"Ohh! He is indeed correct. Though I don't know if it is truly possible to awaken the elemental vein with Common Grade Elemental Veins. After all, he said it will take a year for our elemental vein to evolve into rare grade." Gu Shui nodded her head.

"We will know after six months. For now, let's just do our best to support him since he is gone. Why not have a little fun?" Saying so, Gu Chen grabbed her body and landed his lips on her. For a moment, Gu Shui was surprised.

She hurriedly pushed him away and shouted "You can't do this in daylight."

She lowered her tone and continue "At least, take me to the room!"

Gu Chen smirked lifted her in his arms and rushed towards his room.

Gu Tan didn't know just how much of a favor he has done for his parents just by living in the house.

He and his company soon reached the house of the council. Because of yesterday's announcement, the security around the house was tightened.

"Greeting Village Chief!" A man wearing silver armor walked in front of him and bowed. Although he was unconvinced for making a boy the village chief, he couldn't do anything since he had no support. And, Gu Tan, on other hand has support from the elders. So, he had to show respect.

"Captain Lee, it seems I will be working with you a lot from today. By the way, I want the record of every soldier from our village today." Gu Tan turned his head at Zhao Xin and said "Can you go with Captain Lee and bring the record of the soldiers."

Zhao Xin nodded her head and turned at Captain Lee. Wearing silver armor, his height was tall, so she had to raise her head.

"Captain Lee, please!" Zhao Xin slightly spoke and brought Captain Lee out of the confusion. He stared at Gu Tan with confusion and asked "May I ask why the village chief needs the record of soldiers?"

"Captain Lee, as a village chief, the security of the village depends on me. Because our village will expand from now on, I need to make how much resources I should allocate to the soldiers. After all, we can't give them too much luxury but also feed them well."

"As a Captain, you should know more than me. Those soldiers are the backbone of Xuan Village. There are many martial artists but few of them can fight like soldiers and their training are determined by you. And, there are other things that are correlated to the soldiers which will be revealed soon."

"I hope Captain Lee will cooperate well with us." Gu Tan explained with a smile on his face and turned away, walking towards the house.

Captain Lee stood in front of the door with a stunned expression on his face. For a moment, he couldn't even digest everything that Gu Tan told him.

Unfortunately, Gu Tan wasn't satisfied yet. As soon as he entered the house, he turned his head at Zhao Yin and said "Go and ask Grandpa Han, Grandpa Zhao, and Grandpa Tu to come here! And, while you do that, also ask Zhu Ping and Ming Shen to come here."

"I have something to do with them."
