Summoned?

No! Wait, just wait a minute...

It was raining outside but my laptop hadn't been plugged in. I made sure to check just now. It also still had plenty of battery life when I last checked. Why did it switch off?! Not even my phone would turn on. The hell?!

" You have got to be kidding me!"

I was flustered at first but eventually, I sighed. I must not have been paying attention to the battery life as much as I thought.

Whatever it's not that big of a deal, I did all my work, now I can finally sleep!

I left my seat for my bed but when I felt around for it I fell.

Odd, I felt around some more, only for my hands to touch air. My room was small, I couldn't even turn in my sleep without wacking my face into the wall or desk so the fact I had a hard time finding it puzzled me.

"Weird." A voice other than my own spoke.

At first I thought I may have spoke out loud but then the voice went on to say.

"Did the summoning fail?"

My heartbeat sped up, as my brain flooded with question marks.

"Did you think summoning one of the gods of creation is an easy thing? Didn't I tell you? Even if you summon one they may not respond if they're not the god that created you."

"Then how do I get them to respond?"

"Well, try calling out their name..."

"Their name?"

"It should be in the great book."

"Let's see here...Yuu-ri?"

The darkness around me began to swirl.

This all felt too real to be a dream yet too ridiculous to process. My heart began to throb.

Within the void, there was a bright light but I ignored it.

If I stayed put, would I return to my world? What am I saying? God is this of you?!

I turned my back on the light and squinted at the darkness ahead of me.

"Yu-Yuriiiiii ale...." The voice tried again.

It became even brighter.

I closed my eyes, clasped my hands, and began to pray.

Mom taught me to pray when I was young but after she died I prayed less, but right now, I was grasping at straws to keep the last sliver of sanity I had.

"God, right now, if you are listening... did I die? I know its been a while since I've eaten or slept, I know I haven't spoken to you in a while but I still want to live!" I whispered. "Please don't kill me! There's still so much I haven't done yet!"

"Eugale?" The voice continued to try.

"I am no demon, nor an angel, and you and I both know that I am no god, so please don't smite me for this. Whatever this is... I do not pretend to be anything less than what I am which is just a broke virgin girl!"

"Yourgale?"

It became so bright I had to squeeze my eyes shut.

"Mama always told me to never give out my full name easily to anyone but I thought she was old-fashioned...I was arrogant to think I knew better. So have mercy on me O-Lord."

Mama believed that giving someone, a woman specifically your name was giving them the opportunity to steal your soul.

Is this what was happening? But how? I haven't gone outside lately...

"Save me from this spell o-lord! Whatever witchery is afoot I ask you to give me the strength to slap the shit out of it."

"Euryale!"

I opened my eyes to find myself in a small apartment, which at first I nearly mistook from my own.

"Ahhhh!" A familiar voice made me spin around.

A brunette in a blue hoody approached me with a huge grin on her face.

Behind her an older woman who had been kneeling slowly rose to her feet. Disbelief written all over her face, "You... actually succeeded?"

God, have you turned your back on me? I suppose, I deserve it... I turned my back on you but its only because you did it first!

I looked at my arms and legs, this outfit... it couldn't be... my nun outfit from the drawing?

"goddess-nim..." The girl approached me in awe at first then with a triumphant expression, a odd light in her coal black eyes.

I don't know what overtook me in that moment, fear, frustration? It just kept piling atop each other compressing and uncompressed just like my tightened fists.

I punched her, my right hook sent her crashing into the adjacent wall.

The older woman's jaw dropped and she looked at me in fear.

"Have we angered you, oh godd-

"I'm not a goddess!"

"T-then pray tell what exactly might you be?" Her speech was old but her red turtle neck dress, and the modern appliances decorating the apartment like the tv and game console betrayed her era.

"...Something you had no business summoning! Return me!"

"I...would love to but your summoner..."

I looked to the summoner who wasn't moving.

"Where is this place? Why was I brought here? What the heck is going on?!"

In that moment the door opened.

A tall guy appeared with a bucket of chicken.

"Huh? Who- When he layed eyes on the unconscious summoner and narrowed his eyes at me.

"Did she do this?"

"Y-yes but..."

He pulled out a flaming blue sword out of thin air and lunged at me.

Oh shit...

Naturally the instincts of any self preserving fool would kick in then, and I threw the closest object I could find, at him to stop him from charging, a book.

Wait, A book?!

He sliced it into two and the flames burnt it to ash, he continued his charge.

I ran in the direction of the woman and put her in an arm lock while grabbing the broom.

A question sign hung over his head and the woman's as well as my own upon witnessing this.

"Stay right there or...I'll kill her!"

Naturally it wasn't convincing.

How could you kill someone with a broom? The tip wasn't even sharp...

His grip tightened on his sword and he held it vertically before his face and began to chant something.

Like hell I was going to wait for him to finish!

I jabbed the broom at his forehead but he bent his body back narrowly dodging it as a gust of wind burst forth into a small spiral curling around my arm, traveling down the broom's shaft to the tip and out, piercing through the wall, the spiraling wind sucked me up with it, spinning my body out the apartment and down four stories.
