Memories

Chills went up and down my spine as I accelerated to my death. It felt surreal as if I was dreaming but then as the ground got closer I regained my senses.

What the hell is happening?! Sky Papa, your majesty! Lord, heavenly Father have mercy!

I swung my broom with force hoping to fan myself and stop the fall- a lazy and foolish resort, only for something weird to happen. A gust of wind came out of the broom, slowing my fall for a second then vanishing.

I fell flat on my face, it was as if I belly flopped off a diving board onto a road of dried tar. For the first time I felt like a yooney tune character, trying to get up was like peeling my sticker-like self off the road. Ugh! It felt like something ran over my gut and a sledge hammer broke my skull.

My forehead felt like it was going to split open, great a concussion and I probably might develop breast cancer after this but at least I survived somehow...

I slowly propped myself up, and steadied my spinning vision while trying to nurse my aching knees and breasts.

They weren't big to begin with and now...they were just flapjacks.

"Live boobies..." I hugged my chest as I forced myself to stand. "You must...live."

"You'll nurse my future babies and husband someday..." ( T ^ T)

I tried walking but I felt like a penguin. Still I pressed on, my thoughts swirling as I roamed the streets of the unfamiliar city.

Have I officially gone insane? I got summoned to someplace that looks like South Korea... and survived a fall that should have killed me.

I looked to the advertisements and billboards, the idols were unfamiliar and there were people that looked like adventurers roaming the streets...

No matter how much I thought about it something like this shouldn't be possible, my new power was like a dream, willing myself to fly or phase through walls to escape my nightmares. I could always will myself to wake up if I sensed something bad was about to happen, but here, no matter how much I tried here it wasn't working.

As I crossed the street my vision suddenly went black.

Well, I had low iron and had been through something similar like this before when my Uncle accidentally dropped the tire rim on one of my fingers while helping him change it.

I felt lightheaded and breathless.

I squatted to wait for the episode to pass only as I dipped my knees my whole world began to wobble.

A deep darkness.

And when I opened my eyes, a hospital.

"Thank goodness you're awake!" A nurse came over. Seeing the relief and warmth on her face gave me hope. For a second, I thought it was all a dream.

"A young girl like you should take better care of yourself! Where were your party members, did you brave the dungeons alone?"

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

She stared at me.

"Perhaps...do you not remember what happened? You fainted at the crosswalk intersection..."

Oh. My. God. Tell me this isn't happening?!

As I slowly knitted my brows in realization, the nurse's smile waned into a concerned frown.

"Are you alright? Do you really not remember?"

I plopped my head back on my pillow and just stared dully at the ceiling above me.

Someone tell me this is all a bad dream, I lost my mind, yeah, that must be it.

"Aha...ahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHA!"

I creeped out my nurse and my Doctor diagnosed me with amnesia.

"A world with dimensional tears, where mysterious monsters would emerge from they would later come to be called dungeons."

~During my stay, I took group lessons with the young patients and slowly began to realize that this world...was very much like the game I had been helping my client with.

GAME OF SHEPHERDS

Create and customize your character then take an in depth series of personality quizzes to determine your class and potential power.

When you spawn in the world you are a "godless" child with the potential to be an "adventurer."

Adventurers enter dungeons to fight, clear it and collect money, to live within that word.

This was a main reason why this game was popular, not only was it an RPG, but it had life simulation like aspects as well.

Depending on how you live and the things you ate and do you could unlock useful skills and powers that really helped.

Eventually they can run into "gods" in dungeons, beings that can help define your class, limiting, destroying or refining your potential. They can give you money or a property as well.

Once you break past the level of sixty you can become a "Shepherd." Shepherd's take the role of "gods" to other godless adventurers that weren't fortunate enough to meet a god.

When they clear dungeons they can buy land depending on its location. Once they buy the land they become responsible for clearing all the dungeons in that land and essentially take the role of a King/ President or Lord of that land.

Lords are figures that own property within a president's area. They are responsible for certain areas.

Shepherd Kings or Presidents are individuals that took over land that's been abandoned.

When I got back to my room, tears leaked from my eyes.

"Why Lord, you were better off killing me! At least in my original world I had a family but in this one I'm just an orphan. Here in this world I'm just...an ignorant babe..."

"What sort of bull shit are you spouting right now?"

A tall young woman with long blonde hair, honey brown skin dressed in red snake print knee high boots, a denim mini skirt and leather jacket to match, lurked at the door. The gold snake finger ring that adorned her right hand distracted me.

I wanted to draw her but more importantly who was she?

I felt like I was staring at a snake as her grey eyes watched me for a bit. Leaning on the door post she entered, sat herself down and lifted a meaty thigh over the other. Was she chewing gum?

"Clck. So? Who's the bastard that did this to you Clck. Haah?"

"Huh?"

"What was that jackass doing that he couldn't fucking walk you home? Ha? Clck."

I blinked at her, character design wise she bore some resemblance to my chara but I don't remember seeing her among the character lineup, the sexy lady characters were left to me and another creator, it's my specialty after all, but then again a drawing was different from a real person. The finger ring....that does look familiar. I wanna draw it so bad but at the same time I feel like I've seen it somewhere before!

"Why aren't you saying anything? Did you two fight?"

Certain elements of her seemed familiar but also not. In the end I got tired of guessing,

"Umm....who are you supposed to be?" .

"..."The girl blinked at me, her eyes slowly widening. She even stopped chewing.

My nurse who had been eavesdropping at the door came in.

"I told you...the patient has some memory loss issues..."

"This goes beyond that! How do you not recognize your own fucking sister?!"

"Sister?" Our character designs did resemble each other...as I continued to stare my mind began to split, the scene of two, much younger high school girls trying to escape in a sea of screaming humans and zombies took its place in one.

I slid and tripped over the blood of a classmate that was being eaten next to me.

She was ahead of me, when she heard my fall and ran back.

"Eury! Hang in there dammit don't you go dying on me!" Using the blood splattered slippery floor to her advantage, she quickly slid on it to get to me faster. She grabbed my wrist and dragged me away from them first before hefting me on her back and ran.

I had a petite body, and she had always been a tall, athletic + thick kid. Whenever we fought, she could never use her full strength, she would always slap me silly, hip slam me out of the way, breast tackle or sit on me, I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it. But that incident, I remember for the first time being thankful for my older Sis then.

That's right, We hailed from a small island, word of dimensional fissures reached us late, dungeons appeared with no adventurers to help, with no adventurers to shave down the monsters, a dungeon break occurred, and those monsters invaded our island.

We escaped and sought refuge in South Korea who had gotten wind and sent boats and adventurers. Learning a new language and assimilating was tough, with our honey safflower skin we stood out wherever we went.

Ah wait!

These memories weren't mine but they felt like they could be and that terrified me. Was I losing my mind?

That penny like scent... the sound of flesh being torn off the skin...

"I just remembered the dungeon break on Santa Rosas..." I spoke slowly.

My supposed sister collapsed back into her seat, her expression relieved. She didn't seem concerned about me remembering such an awful memory, I guess it testified to her degree of mental toughness or perhaps just how much both had been through.

The mind splitting only gave me a mind numbing headache. I didn't feel like myself... yet it did...

"I...i'm not your sister but at the same time I am?"

Sis ignored what I said.

"Clck. Looks like you just need more time, I'm sure once we go home your memories will return."

I tugged at her sleeve.

"No, I need to be sent back."

"Huh?"

"The summoner, I was summoned. But you're saying I'm your sister?"

"Huh?"

I wasn't making any sense, my mind felt fuzzy. "Why are these memories..."

They're not mine! So why are they real? The limping of those undead things, their bloody rotting jaws and ghoulish eyes. It scared me. I don't want this kind of world! To think such things exist... it haunted my mind.I want to go home back to my monster less world!
