A Trip Down Memory Lane...Wait, what was his name?

I thought I remembered everything but when I went out to check out the stores and local eateries I found myself standing clueless on the side walk forgetting where I was going and what I planned to do every time I remembered something.

I decided to write my plans and agenda on my phone. It was super effective whenever I remembered something and looked back down at my phone to check the time.

There was a cosmetic store that I had a field day with. Now that I had the money to buy all the good skin care products. I paused halfway only to remember that my bathroom already had quite a stock saved up from last year.

The Euryale was like me. A squirrel like shopper who buys things in bulk so she doesn't have to come out in public and waste her money buying more things.

I ended up putting some of the things back and went to another store. When it came to the body creams, lotions, razors and soap I had a field day. On my way to the cashier I ended up reversing after passing some cute organizers and stationary...

The person at the cash register was a girl my age who's smile faded and she frowned at me.

I didn't know her though. A girl with strawberry brown hair and brown eyes. She put up the closed sign once I got close enough.

"???"

And walked off. I was speechless. So were the people behind me.

On my walk to the bus stop I tried not to get distracted but the heavenly smell of food reminded me of all the delicious foods I never got to try in my other life and I ended up looking around curiously, walking into a restaurant.

"Welcome!"~

That person froze.

So did I.

That person...that person...

With a greeting smile frozen on his face he quietly and awkwardly disappeared into the backroom.

His coworkers cast him a curious look.

"I'm sorry but I'll have to ask you to leave." A bespectacled man intercepted me as I approached.

"Pardon?"

"I'm afraid all our tables for today are booked."

I blinked. Glancing at the empty tables around me even on the second floor. Well, it happens. Some people book whole areas because they don't like crowds.

"Is it okay if I order to go then?"

"I'm afraid not. We don't allow take out."

But behind him an employee was bagging his order at the counter.

He adjusted his glasses. "Unless you've already booked a table."

"I see. Pardon me then."

It's been a long time since I ever came across a racist. That was my first thought but on my walk out it occurred to me he was protecting that person. Or I was wrong and that really was the case.

I didn't expect my heart to start beating at the sight of him. In game is one thing but isn't he also my type? Innocent looking, earnest and hardworking.... to think I shared so much in common with Euryale! Eerie! But I suppose the character was supposed to be based off me.

Everytime I remembered my situation I felt scared, lost and trapped. The walk to the bus stop was a quiet one as I processed the feeling of public rejection from that bespectacled fellow. As the bus came around the corner I heard heavy footsteps and before I could enter the bus, I got pulled out the way.

"Wait!"

"!" he actually followed me! With him standing so close to me, leaning over to catch his breath- but that made no sense given his physicality as an adventurer. He wasn't panting, just looking down while girding his waist as if mentally preparing himself for something, finally he sucked in air. Was he annoyed?

"Are you getting on?" The bus driver asked.

This was an important conversation.

"..." Maybe the next one. I shook my head. The bus drove off.

"Why did you follow me?"

"What do you mean? Didn't you want me to follow you?"

"???" I was confused at first but I could only imagine the mind games the previous Euryale spun for him to do that.

"No."

He straightened to study me seriously. I felt so ashamed I couldn't meet his gaze. One look was all it took to see he had some disdain for her as he raised a brow. Truthfully it was more damaging than being rejected in public by the restaurant manager.

He huffed and held out his hand for my bags.

I moved them away.

"You don't need to do that anymore."

"Yeah, yeah..." he paused. "Wait what?"

"I'm dumping you."

He seemed even more confused. "What?"

"We're speaking the same language."

"I know...but say it in away for me to understand."

I inhaled and tried to think of a way Euryale would put it. "You've been a dear, and like...it's been fun and all but that's it. You're fired!"~

He blinked a couple of times.

I elaborated. "I don't need you anymore."

"..." I thought it finally sunk in but in the end he raised both brows. "Are you... testing me?"

Hearing this made me sigh. You poor unfortunate soul. I can't even blame you but my former shameful self.

"No. I'm saying I'm over you. We're over. Got it?"

It sounded sorta conceited to say it.

Question signs still hung over his head. So I took his hand and shook it. "Goodbye Mr...." what was his name again? My smile stretched nervously. "Well...Mister, Mister."

I walked away deciding to walk to the next bus stop finding it too awkward to stand next to him as he tried to process all the years of trauma I probably put him through just to dump him so casually at a bus stop. He was bound to implode with relief or something and I didn't want to be anywhere near its radius.

But seriously....what was his name again?
