Chapter 22 - A Sword and A Scythe

An invisible spark ignited between the scythe and the sword.

The sword kindled a pure, righteous blue aura giving off a cold and arrogant feeling.

Seemingly felt the sword's challenge, the scythe did not want to lose out. It lighted up its destructive red aura that could make people shudder from its ruthlessness and killing intent.

Theodore, who was near them, could only endure the pressure they brought, but he did not retreat.

The two armaments seemed to sense Theodore's state, so they moved away a little before continuing their competition.

None of the surrounding weapons intend to stop the conflict between the scythe and the sword. As if they could communicate, they flew to surround the two armaments before each gave off a buzzing sound as if cheering and encouraging the fight.

Looking at the fast change of the situation, Theodore felt bewildered. He could only peek at his teacher pitifully as if asking for help.

Nathan's small chuckle was the response to his disciple's pleading. He earnestly said, "You should solve this problem yourself to prove your ability to the spiritual weapon."

Just like Nathan previously knew that his disciple was faking, how could Theodore not see through his teacher's pretending action?

When he returned his gaze, the two weapons already started fighting.

The sword and scythe wildly released their aura to the peak and clashed with each other frenziedly.

After several collisions, the scythe effortlessly overpowered the sword.

The sword could only sometimes gain an advantage to fight back with difficulty before being overwhelmed by the scythe again.

Each time there was a shift in condition, the surrounding weapons hummed in applause, resembling a human clapping their hands to cheer.

"..." Theodore was speechless as he stared blankly at the situation. It seemed that everyone, or every weapon, was having fun watching the excitement; no one intended to help him stop the brawl at all!

He watched as the sword was closer and closer to losing. The aura from the scythe continued to overwhelm it.

The sword could only retreat as it could barely defend against the scythe's attack.

The scythe emanated the unrestraint air as it prepared to deliver the finishing blow to defeat and crush the sword.

Theodore felt that he could not wait any longer. Theodore decided to gamble at the final moment and rushed toward the two weapons to separate them.

In his heart, he secretly believed that there would not be much risk with his teacher here.

The scythe could only halt unwillingly; it stopped when it nearly hit Theodore's face to test him and to show its dissatisfaction.

The sword, in contrast, was grateful to Theodore; it buzzed and shook in appreciation.

The fight temporarily stopped, and the surrounding armaments booed in response.

The circumstance between the three of them entered a deadlock once again.

The sword flew to Theodore's side and hummed to mock the scythe. So what if it was a little weaker? As long as a person was not blind, anyone could see that this kid still favored it.

How could the scythe endure this? It wanted to rush up to beat this shameless sword up. However, with Theodore's presence, it could only restrain itself.

If it accidentally hurt Theodore, Nathan would teach it an unforgetful lesson!

Nathan, who watched everything, understood the awkwardness of the situation. Theodore wanted to choose the sword, but the scythe did not give up, resulting in the current embarrassment.

He could only intervene and say to the scythe, "Come here."

The scythe floated to Nathan helplessly. It whined in a buzzing sound to him as if it suffered from a great grievance.

"Don't act like that. It's not as if I don't know your personality." Nathan did not take the scythe's complaint seriously. He then turned to look at Theodore and explained, "Don't worry. They are always like this when they meet someone they especially like."

Nathan also took the chance to introduce the two weapons to Theodore, "This mischievous scythe's name is Impending Doom; you can call him Doomy. He might be a little willful, but he is not sinister."

Hearing Nathan calling him Doomy, the Impending Doom shook and whizzed loudly to express its resistance. Still, when Nathan glanced at him sharply, he could only stop his action feebly.

Seeing Doomy quiet down, Nathan then turned to introduce the sword next to Theodore, "The sword is called The Misty Blade; you can call her Misty. Although a little frigid and aloof, she is a sword with great potential."

The Misty Blade shook and leisurely circled Theodore to greet him.

Theodore nodded attentively to react, imploring that he genuinely recognized and welcomed them.

Witnessing this harmonizing atmosphere, Nathan secretly felt gratified. He asked Theodore for confirmation, "So, what weapon did you choose at the end?"

Doomy and Misty instantly shifted their focus to Theodore as if to urge him.

Theodore looked at the two of them seriously but did not intend to change his decision. He replied, "Teacher, I want to practice sword technique and use the Misty Blade as the weapon."

The Misty sword hummed in applause. She also waved herself toward her enemy, Doomy, to taunt him.

The Impending Doom, in contrast, buzzed in melancholy, but he did not intend to give up and flew anxiously to Nathan. He directed his sharp point toward Theodore and hummed as if to justify something.

Nathan stared at Doomy's action and thought carefully. From his action, Theodore seemed to have a great talent in the way of the scythe and was very suitable to Doomy.

This circumstance was rare as most weapons respect their chosen bearer's decision unless it was highly critical.

Nathan hesitated yet still said a suggestion to Theodore, "How about you practice both swordsmanship and Scythemanship at the beginning steps? After all, their basics are similar and would not delay you much; you can think of it as having an alternative."

Theodore did not know whether to laugh or cry. He once hoped Misty would respond to him; however, she was not the only one who reacted to him.

He had no suitable methods to reject his teacher's advice as it was really an excellent choice. He could not disclose that he recalled his future and had practiced using a sword before!!!

Theodore could only nod helplessly and dejectedly replied, "Yes, teacher."

Perceiving his disciple's agreement, Nathan shifted his gaze to the Impending Doom and said, "If Theodore still does not intend to choose you after practicing the basics, you have to give up and don't delay him. You may choose him, but you must also respect his decision."

The Impending Doom Scythe buzzed hastily in agreement. He believed that he could convict Theodore with his power.

Nathan's involvement resolved the conflict between the Misty Blade and the Impending Doom.

With everything settled, Nathan recalled the other armaments to his storage artifact, preparing to go back to take a rest.

Knowing it was the end of the day's activities, Theodore held his necklace tightly in uncertainty. He understood he would have no other opportunities if he did not tell Nathan this moment.

The necklace was the key to a secret room containing a unique exercise, specifically for his bloodline. He did have the fate to practice it in his previous life; however, he was still aware of its existence.

Before the current day, Theodore had some reservations, but Nathan's actions made him feel that his teacher would not have malicious thoughts toward him just from this exercise.

Making this decision, Theodore softly called Nathan for attention. "Teacher, I have something to tell you."

I don't know if it is weird or not when spiritual weapons each have genders after introducing them. I mean I feel I should, but I am not too sure as well. (YwY)
