A short nap
It was a bright shiny day when I walked towards the school together with my childhood friend. She was staying outside my house when I was ready to go so we decided to go together. It was just your normal day where nothing happens and just a complete repeat of what we did yesterday.
What's more, the city was full of life yet it was the same. It was the same giant buildings that ruled the sky, the same smokey air from the cars that drove past, and the same people who were experiencing their own life just like us.
Besides the fact that there are sometimes new people, it is still the same. Just like us two walking together in this bustling city to reach our school.
However, unlike last time something out of the ordinary happened. We were both hit by a truck that had a brake malfunction or so they say. We were successfully rushed to the hospital and suffered in a coma.
News about us two spread to the country, we made it to national television, newspapers, and articles. They were titled as "the two who walked to school but never reached it and never came back."
On the contrary, our experience was really different from what they said. We... were transported to another world.
"Argh!!! I can't do it! I can't sense mana at all." Screamed a girl, this girl had a ponytail hairstyle and is very muscular. She was sitting down on a carpet on the floor in a crossed-leg sitting position.
"You have to do your best lily or else we won't save the world at this point." Said a boy with a really pale body. Unlike the girl, this boy does not need descriptions for he is someone we know.
"Uh... Since when was it our job to save the world, Mary?!?!" The girl said with a judgy look. The girl's name is Lily Anne, she is Mary's childhood friend and the girl together with him when they were transported to another world.
"Ever since we got transported to another world, duh. Do you not read manga at all, they always say that those who get transported to another world will always become a hero!!!" Mary said with excitement.
Shea looked at Mary with a disgusted face, she couldn't help but be bothered by a mature teenage boy wanting to become a hero.
"If that's what you want, you do you. Just don't let me in together with your fantasies. Since I can't sense mana at all, I will just leave." said Lily as she gets up and headed to the door.
But before Lily could even stand up she was stopped.
"Wait!!! The fact that we got to another world is a fantasy in itself. If you can't feel mana I'll help you with it. So don't go please" said Mary as she cling to lily's leg.
Lily tried to let go of Mary's clinging but he had a better grip on her legs than she thought.
"Argh fine just let me go."
"Really?" Mary said as he looks up into Lily with his eyes shining like a star.
"Yeah. But you have to help me though."
"Sure! It's really easy-"
After a few hours, Lily finally learned how to sense mana. The both of them were really happy and were jumping around and joy when suddenly they heard a noise coming from the door.
"You guys are having fun." A big muscular man entered the room. This man was wearing a sleeveless shirt with overalls, he had tall boots and a rough beard.
"Teacher!" Lily rushed toward the bearded man and hugged his big body.
"Good Afternoon Sir Esfallior how may we assist you." Mary put his hand on his abdomen and bowed toward the bearded muscular man.
"Looks like that Lliorfesa has thought you some manners, good, good, good." said the muscular Man while playing with his beard
This Muscular man is the head of the knight order in this kingdom, Esfallior. He is also a teacher of Lily.
"Sir Lliorfesa is your twin, after all, If I show my respect to him I will also show respect to you."
Lliorfesa on the other hand is the twin brother of Esfallior. But unlike Esfallior, Lliorfesa has a really small body and his beard is long and clean, so long in fact that it reaches the floor. He is also the magic head of the mage order in this kingdom and is Mary's teacher.
"You also know how to get to other people's good side, I like you kid, you'll become a good hero," Esfallior said.
After hearing what the bearded man said Mary couldn't help but be happy.
"Thank you."
"*Ahem* Anyways, what are you doing here teacher," Lily said as she let go of his body.
"Listen to this... You guys are going on your first mission!"
""Really!!!"" both of them got excited.
"Can I ask what the mission is, Sir Esfallior?" asked Mary
"Both of you may not like it but your mission is... to eliminate some bandits that appeared in the mountains northeast of the kingdom."
Immediately after Esfallior said the mission the excitement the two felt suddenly dropped and they couldn't help but be scared.
"Don't worry about it though, both of you will be assisted by knights so you can be safe," Esfallior said after sensing the two of them being scared.
What Esfallior didn't know is that the two of them are not scared of dying to bandits but rather the fact that they may have to kill their own kind.
"We know this may happen soon... are you okay Mary?" Lily whispered to Mary.
"I don't know why they would put bandit killing as their first mission, if I were the council I would put you guys against a mountain beast... Hm? are you okay kid?"
As of now, Mary was sweating a lot. Before mary got transported to another world he was the "good kid" he would help out people and he would even forgive those who would bully him for his name. But after hearing the mission he couldn't help but question his morals.
(The council probably gave us this mission so we could get used to killing another person, but can we really kill the same kind as us? Isn't murder a really bad thing? I'm on board to kill a mountain beast but a human? Is that really right?)
"Hey!" Lily yelled at Mary
"*pant* *pant* *pant* Lily?"
"Are you feeling okay kid? If you're that scared how about we cancel this mission?" said Esfallior
"How about you stay here in the kingdom, I'll go by myself," Lily whispered with determination.
Mary couldn't help but be engrossed in Lily's determination. Seeing Lily like this Mary fortified his will and throw away his morals to choose what is needed.
"No, this mission will go on," said Mary.
"That's what I like to hear kid, go and pack your things," Esfallior said with exhilaration.
"Are you sure about this? You will have to kill you know." Lily said while worrying about Mary's mental health.
Mary stared into Lily's eyes. Inside Mary, there's someone who wants to stay and study magic all day, but Mary who wants to do what is needed and beneficial for the two of them won over. So in the end Mary sacrificed the worthless thought.
"I'm okay, I'm prepared to make sacrifices."
As the two continue their journey there are countless things that Mary had to sacrifice and one of them was a good lover and friend.

"Argh... What a stupid dream."
Mary was laying down on the sofa after overusing his brain with thinking of ways on how to approach the riff on the air from Mark's place.
"How can I even dream after a really short nap? Oh shit, it's already that long." Mary said as he looks at the clock
"Is Shea awake yet?"
Mary stood up and went towards his room. In his room, he can still feel the breathing of someone asleep.
"Looks like she's still asleep. She must be really tired after cultivating for that long."
After Mary felt the soft breathing of someone sleeping really comfortably, he decided to go back to the living room and watch some television.
"Just what was up with that Mark? if he really wanted to freelance in my house I would have let him. It's really weird for him to turn down a bet of 100 bucks."
Mary was overthinking again, and after realizing it he stopped.
"I really am prone to overthinking huh? I should learn not to care about other people's choices... But sometimes overthinking can save you from danger! It is dangerous for my mental health though... Argh!!! If only someone could watch over my mental health sometimes." said Mary
Then as he said that he remembered the dream he just had, a dream of someone actually taking care of his mental health howbeit a little forceful.
