10 Xiaohui’s First Girlfriend

There were several retakes of some scenes but eventually the director was satisfied and let everyone off for the day. The video wasn't completely done and they would have to come back the following days to shoot the rest. As everyone packed up to leave, Lin Xiaohui was called up to talk with the director.

Xie Gui was a handsome man in his mid 40s. He had been directing many popular films for the past few decades. Seeing them today, he sensed that the two actresses today had the potential to shine brighter than the rest.

He was especially impressed by Lin Xiaohui and her performance and commentated on how great she did, patting her shoulder and saying, "Seeing you act reminded me of your mother's prime years."

Was the director close with Mother Lin?

Lin Xiaohui was suddenly interested in what his relationship was with her mother. She had never heard about him before other than knowing he was a great director who worked behind the scenes of many well known films.

"You know my mother?" Lin Xiaohui questioned.

Xie Gui only smiled, responding with a sly silence. Lin Xiaohui raised her brows in confusion before her eyes suddenly went wide.

"You dated my mom!" She gasped. It was like she just gotten the latest scoop of information.

Meng Lili was a world renowned actress before she became Mother Lin.

For as long as Lin Xiaohui could remember, she had always looked up to her mother. Her life as an actress was a legend in the industry, and she aspired to become just like her. She knew everything about her mother's life in stardom and the marks she had left behind.

During her younger years, she was rumored to have been dating a promising young director who helped greatly in setting the stage for her future. However, due to unknown circumstances, the two split and Meng Lili eventually married Lin Zhiqiang, Lin Xiaohui's father.

Now that Lin Xiaohui was face to face with the director that her mother supposedly dated, she was curious as to why they went separate ways. Before she could open her mouth to inquire, Xie Gui shushed her.

"Haha… you're as predictable as your mother. For Lili's privacy and mine, I won't be answering your questions." He chuckled. "It was a pleasure to work with you today. Continue working hard for the next few days."

Having said his thoughts, he turned to leave and Lin Xiaohui was left in the dust. She frowned.

Not having the answers to her questions was frustrating.

Well, whatever.

Fumbling through her purse for her phone, she dialed her driver to pick her up. It was getting dark now and it was starting to pour heavily. Everyone else had already left while she was talking to the director. The building was now closed and she was standing out in the rain, sheltered only by the roof of the outside part of the building.

As she was waiting, a familiar figure appeared besides her.

"Tsk."

The click of the tongue and the strong smell of perfume was enough to tell who it was.

"My luck must be cursed to always find you everywhere I go." Zhong Yanmei's cold voice rang through Lin Xiaohui's ears.

"Oh, hello to you as well, senior." Lin Xiaohui replied.

She was a year younger than Zhong Yanmei so the term she used was only to be polite.

"Good work today!"

Unfortunately for her, the other didn't like her very much and had no plans on putting up a fake front.

"Don't act so disgustingly with me." Zhong Yanmei shot her down immediately. As if she couldn't stand another minute being around Lin Xiaohui, she glared at the younger girl and impatiently strutted to the other side of the street despite getting her clothing wet. There was a taxi waiting there, so she wouldn't suffer much.

Lin Xiaohui sighed. They were going to the same destination anyways, so why was Zhong Yanmei in such a hurry to avoid her?

When Lin Xiaohui was dropped off at her dorm, she hurriedly stepped inside and called out for Tan Ruanjun.

"Xiaohui, you're back!" Tan Ruanjun looked up from her computer to greet her.

"Still playing games? You naughty girl, our exams are soon!" Lin Xiaohui scolded.

She set down her items and quickly checked her phone to see if she had received any messages. This went on for such a long time that Tan Ruanjun noticed her strange behavior and popped up beside her, almost scaring her to death.

"What's up with you? You keep looking at your phone!" She stared accusingly at Lin Xiaohui. "Could it be…"

"Ah!! Shut up!" Lin Xiaohui clasped her hand on Tan Ruanjun's mouth.

"It's just, well, I might get a girlfriend soon."

Lin Xiaohui took her hand back, but Tan Ruanjun's mouth was left open.

"!!!"

"You went to work and came back with a girlfriend?!" She seemed ecstatic about the news.

Finally, Lin Xiaohui would shut up about not having a girl! Her ears were safe now!

"I said might, ah. I still don't know if she's into women."

Tan Ruanjun immediately forced Lin Xiaohui to tell her everything that happened today and so she did.

"Daisy? Isn't that a flower in English? Never mind that, she should definitely be into you if she was blushing so crazily from you just complimenting her!" Tan Ruanjun was convinced. She grabbed Lin Xiaohui and hugged her tightly. "Our Xiaohui is growing up!"

"Ow ow ow! Let go of me, JunJun!" Lin Xiaohui was suffocated and couldn't breathe. Tan Ruanjun released her hold.

"Did Zhong Yanmei come back, by the way?" This suddenly came into mind and she asked.

Tan Ruanjun titled her head and thought for a second. After contemplating, she said, "Nope. I wonder where she always goes, she's rarely here with us."

While they were chatting, Lin Xiaohui's phone got a notification. Her heart thumped in anticipation.

Foreign Cutie (Daisy): Hi Xiaohui, it's me! I hope you got home safely. ^-^

Upon seeing this, both the girls squealed.

"Reply to her, quick!" Tan Ruanjun urged before making fun of the contact name Lin Xiaohui had put for Daisy.

Lin Xiaohui began typing.

Lin Xiaohui: Yes, I got home fine. What are you doing currently?

"Ew, you sound like a straight male." Tan Ruanjun made a throwing up gesture.

"I've never talked to a girl before! I mean— never in a flirty way." Lin Xiaohui had her excuse.

Ding!

Foreign Cutie (Daisy): I'm eating dinner :D

The image Daisy had sent was of a rice omelet with a smiley face drawn with ketchup. Lin Xiaohui found herself smiling as she thought of how cute it was. She was about to type when Daisy sent another message.

Foreign Cutie (Daisy): I wanted to ask earlier, but would you be willing to take me on a tour around X city after your MV is done?

"She's asking you on a date, right? She's asking you on a date, OMG!" Tan Ruanjun seemed more excited than Lin Xiaohui was at this point.

After all, this would be Lin Xiaohui's first ever girlfriend.
