A Strange Book

The advertisement didn't gain as much attention as she hoped, but her family did force everyone that worked under them to watch it. Father Lin even declared that those who watched it more than five times would get a bonus.

Meanwhile many outsiders who saw the ad were amazed by her beauty and wondered who it was. A handful of them even became fans.

The amount was small but Lin Xiaohui was bubbling with happiness.

Although Lin Xiaohui had just finished shooting for the commercial, her schedule wasn't as free as she wished. There was the monthly exams for her university course and as the number one student at X university, she was expected to her hold her position.

While Lin Xiaohui was busy studying at her desk, Tan Ruanjun was slacking off and playing GOH. She would occasionally curse out of frustration and beg Lin Xiaohui to join her.

Lin Xiaohui just tapped her pencil and scowled, "Junjun, I can already see your exam scores. All zeros."

"I wanted to ask Wei Yun to play with me, but he's preparing for the upcoming tournament." Tan Ruanjun sobbed.

That's right.

During the short time Lin Xiaohui was away, that asshole Wei Yun had snatched her best friend from her. She didn't know how but the two of them were already on close terms.

"I thought you didn't like that bastard?" Lin Xiaohui asked while picking up her items. Staying in the dormitory with Tan Ruanjun's craziness would definitely affect her.

Tan Ruanjun was silent before whispering, "He's so handsome, how can I hate him?"

Lin Xiaohui rolled her eyes and walked to the door. Tan Ruanjun called out from behind, "Wait!! Where are you going?"

"The library," Lin Xiaohui answered with a smirk. "Want to come?"

"...Nope!!" Tan Ruanjun pretended she never asked.

As Lin Xiaohui walked out she suddenly heard her phone ring and pulled it out to see who was calling her. Her eyes lit up when she saw Gu Xinyi's caller ID.

"Xinyi!" Lin Xiaohui exclaimed.

"Yo, demon. I'm at your campus gate, where are you?" Gu Xinyi's deep voice sounded muffled.

Lin Xiaohui was surprised by his sudden visit but hurriedly told him, "I'm coming, wait for me!"

When the two of them met up, Gu Xinyi grinned at her and she returned a smile. She had ran all the way here, so she was panting a bit as she tried to regain her breath. After a moment, she looked up at Gu Xinyi and asked, "What's up?"

"Nothing. I was in the area and came by to see your ugly face. Shouldn't you be happy? Gu Xinyi was casual.

Lin Xiaohui frowned and playfully punched his shoulder.

"I'm just kidding. You're such a violent person, no wonder you don't have a girlfriend!" Gu Xinyi rubbed his shoulder and acted as though he had just been hit by a metal bat.

"You don't have a girlfriend either!" Lin Xiaohui retorted. She didn't notice Gu Xinyi's expression shift a bit at the mention of 'girlfriend' since he quickly composed himself and mockingly stared at her.

Lin Xiaohui, "I was on the way to the library when you suddenly called."

"The little demoness actually knows how to study?" Gu Xinyi chuckled and she kicked his shin.

"Ow!! You're just like your damn brother!"

Lin Xiaohui proudly claimed her victory and crossed her arms, her hair falling back behind her. The smug grin complimented her small face very well. The students around were looking at her with stunned eyes.

Gu Xinyi narrowed his eyes when he noticed their stares and he quickly cleared his throat.

"I decided to permanently stay. Truthfully, I've already received my degree from the states and now I plan to settle back in China." He explained his situation.

Lin Xiaohui's face went from shock to glee.

"That's great!!! Wait, I'll call over Tan Ruanjun to see you. You haven't talked to her yet, right?" Lin Xiaohui smiled.

"It's fine, I'm going back now. Tell demoness number two that she still owes me money." Gu Xinyi clarified and walked off. Lin Xiaohui was a bit startled by his response but shrugged it off.

When Gu Xinyi's back fully disappeared from sight, she turned around as well and started walking in the direction of the campus library. Talking with Gu Xinyi just now almost made her forget her original goal.

The exams were in three days so she had to be fully prepared.

Once Lin Xiaohui arrived to the library, she checked in and set down her materials in a corner to go and find books for her courses.

Students usually didn't use the library during this time of the day so there were only a few people in the library. When they saw her walk in, some of the boys were staring at her with visible blushes on their faces.

Lin Xiaohui shuddered as she angrily wished it were girls looking at her with that kind of expression. What sin had she committed in her past life? Why wasn't she popular with girls!!

Ignoring their stares, she went to a set of bookshelves and picked out some textbooks. Just as she was about to return to her seat, she noticed a strange book that stood out from the rest—

It was bright and colorful, which didn't match the plain books in the mathematics and science section. Lin Xiaohui thought someone had misplaced a book so, like the good student she was, she picked it up to return it to it's proper place.

"..." Lin Xiaohui was speechless. Was she really so popular that someone wrote a fan-fiction about her?

Although she tried to fight back the urge, she was rather interested in the contents of the book, so she took it back to her seat and turned it over to look at the description.

"Lin Xiaohui is the kind and beautiful campus flower, with four top notch suitors fighting for her attention! Among these four, who will win her affection? Find out as... what the hell?!" Lin Xiaohui shouted which gathered the attention of the few people in the library. She quickly shut her mouth and glared at the book.

Lin Xiaohui originally thought it was just a fan-fiction.

That is, until she read the names of the suitors, and found out they were all people she knew; Gu Xinyi, Shen Wuying, Zhan Chen, and Wei Yun.

Was someone trying to pull a prank? No, it couldn't be... the context was too specific. Not only were the names similar to those she was acquainted with, the encounters she has had with them up to now was the exact same!
