6 Lupines And Butterflies

Blondie snorts and rolls his eyes while Snow gapes at them. Even Lucy looks stunned and we all stare at Cayson like he's lost his mind.

Fiancée???

Well I should have known that he was absolutely crazy.

Or maybe I am.

Maybe I'm the problem, and this is just an early onset of schizophrenia because this situation cannot be real. With that in mind I get up, pick my cat and turn towards the kitchen exit without a word. I don't stop when I hear the ensuing quarrel, I walk out the kitchen door, turn left past the staircase and just keep walking.

Do I know where I'm going to?

Absolutely not, but I do know one way or another I'm getting out of this house. I end up at the end of a dim corridor with a lone intimidating door, tall with no light seeping through. I'm contemplating whether or not to open it because it honestly looks like the gateway to a nightmare but at the end of the day I don't even care if its the wolves I saw earlier behind it. They may be waiting for me to open it, ready to rip me to shreds. Then I realize at this point I don't really care, the day has been way too bizarre and for all I know they may just be harmless pets.

Yeah right.

I swallow my fear and jerk the door wide open. Instantly bright ass sunlight hits my eyes and tries to penetrate my skull. Jeeeez...

After taking a few minutes to adapt to the shock I peek through my lashes, only to lose my breath.

Wooow. Right before my eyes is a stunning garden, set right behind house yet cut off from the thick woods with a waist high white picket fence. The fence extends from the two opposite sides of the house maintaining the width but goes on double that in length. Two large trees frame the right side of the garden with three pastel garden benches in between the trees. The rest of the garden seems dedicated to growing all sorts flowers ranging from tall bright yellow sunflowers to delicate looking pink geraniums and pretty little lupines with butterflies dancing from tip to tip. Other flowers with names unknown to me swayed in the gentle evening breeze, showing off their array of colors. I found myself pattering through the garden enjoying the sight before finally settling down on of the benches. Lucy had dropped when I was still gaping at the garden and was now sniffing at different petals as if looking for her favourites.

I feel my breathing slow and deepen as the sounds of a talkative bird drift into my ears.

Guess there's always a light at the end of a tunnel.

The view is great at calming my mind but I can't help thinking back to intriguing male who got me to my current predicament.

"Will you pose as my fiancée?"

Ughh.

He's obviously deranged.

Obviously.

Yet I'm sooo curious as to the why. Why me? And what does he even need a fake fiancée for? And...

And why do I even care? The entire thing is just ridiculous.

A sound to my left draws me out of my reverie and I open my eyes to sight him. Cayson. He notices my stare and stops walking and we stare at each other for a beat or two. He exhales audibly and continues strutting towards me. Each step he takes has my entire body on alert until he takes a seat not beside me but on a separate bench. He stretches out on the beach and I use the time to study his profile.

High cheekbones and a clearcut jaw gave him a very striking appearance. He was wearing glasses at the moment and his amber eyes glittered behind the lens. My brain registered all the attractiveness and responded with Yummm.

'Down girl.' I scolded my hyper brain

and struggled to remember all the things I should focus on such as my abduction instead of something absurd like his face or his strong looking but lean legs stretched in front of him. With that thought my eyes followed the length of his legs and... What was I saying again?

A snap cuts off the confused workings of my brain and I turned towards him, he'd tucked his hair back to accommodate his glasses and the deep auburn hair fell in waves to the nape of his neck.

"Are you okay?"

"Huh?" I replied while blinking rapidly.

He was looking at me with quizzically and I realize he'd been talking to me all this while and I've been here just ogling him.

Brilliant aren't I?
