The king was the first one to react at Arthur. Since, Arthur held a very delicate position in the country's diplomacy, the king Diseum was a bit careful dealing with Arthur.

"Diseum, in this country of yours, those kind of nobles still exist?"

Merlin asked King after hearing what happened with Shin.

"No, I wasn't aware… the nobles of this country should have a reform. Although there might still be obstinate nobles with strong sense of elitism have yet to yield. However, when talking about the vice chief officer of financial bureau, Ritzburg, he is famous for being a strict person with strong morals. And he loathes things as injustices and putting pressure. I cannot believe his son would say a thing."

The King replied in front of everyone. Arthur who didn't know the story finally understood why the nobles here in Earlshide are so different.

'So, a reform has happened with king at his seat. Probably must have happened after declaration of Sage.'

Arthur being a person with very good political insight could easily guess the problems and reasons for reform.

In the time with the war against the devil, Merlin came up and defeated it getting huge respect and power from the people.

Power is freedom. As long one has power, he can do as he wants. And that is the problem. The nobles with high standing would never tolerate having a commoner such a high standing with is equivalent to king.

Arthur also understood the influence of Sage. Just a word from the Sage, can overturn this country. The nobles must be afraid of such physical and political power.

But the current king at that was a crown prince, was a junior of the sage and ultimately when he became king, he carried a reform to change the nobles of the country.

Which later on, made the country more stable and gave more power to the Sage. In a way, it is indeed dangerous to give so much power to the Sage, but it is good that Merlin was a person with good heart.

Or else, if he declares that he wants to become a king, who can stop him?

But from the looks, it seems he won't do it which is surely assuring.
