Chapter 3 - Experimentation

Rikuro's POV:

Well.. I don't know where west is. So I'm just moving on the detection where i think west is. This'll take long.

(A/N: Yep)

'Should I experiment with this 『Matter Destruction』? Hmm.. let's see..'

While I was walking, I picked up some miscellaneous items, such as rocks, sticks, leaves, and bugs.

I looked at my watch.

It's 12:53 am.

'If it's accurate on the time here.. the only difference should be am and pm.'

I keep picking up some miscellaneous items and I used them to experiment on my ability.

I used some of the bugs I found and made a cluster of them in one of my palm, and on the other palm I put one.

I use 『Matter Destruction』on the palm with one bug. Expectedly I felt my energy dwindle to about 75%. I waited for me to be at my optimal condition before I tried the other palm.

I hesitated to try the other palm. I might pass out from the energy consumption and die.

After waiting for about 5 minutes I tried the other palm.

"Hakai!!"

The bugs on my palm started turning into dust. The bottom bugs started to disappear first but my energy started to dwindle fast. I decided to stop it. I put the bug back on my plastic bag, or my makeshift weapon if you want to call it that.

About 30 bugs out of the hundred turned to dust before I decided to stop the usage of 『Matter Destruction』to stop myself from passing out.

'What energy is this 『Matter Destruction』of mine taking? Is it stamina.. if it isnif I exercised and expand my stamina.. will it be easier to use? Or if I keep using it, the energy requirements gets smaller? This system of mine isn't even telling me. How am I supposed to be an OP mc like Rimuru.'

Straying from experimenting on my 『Matter Destruction』ability, I experimented on the appraisal ability of the system.

"Ok, what's that!"

I pointed on a random mushroom that I just saw.

『Unknown Mushroom』

An unknown mushroom with an unknown effect.

'Ah.. an idiot system'

The light of my eyes faded as the thought of me dying settled in.

"Then what about this bug"

I took an earthworm from the plastic bug and used the system on it.

『Earthworm』

It's a type of worm that burrows underground, it helps the soil to be fertile.

'Ah.. does it just know what I know..'

I throw the earthworm away. This system is useless, it doesn't even tell me anything new to it. Is it even appropriate to call this a system.. this is just..

"Sigh.. then what about that tree"

'Wait.. WHAT!!'

How did it even answer that.. I mean it really does look like an oak tree.. but.. how did it know.

Oh.. this might be a reach but.. it uses my knowledge or experience even on the things that I have forgotten and uses it to answer my questions. I searched the oak tree on G*ogle for my school project but I have forgotten it. So.. it's a remembrance system.

Ok let's try this out..

"SYSTEM EXPAND!!!"

The text on the black transparent screen of the system turned into a search engine and logs of things that I have learned.

'So a knowledge system.. more knowledge.. means MORE POWER.. or something. It's a quote I used.. let's see here.'

"Search, fanfic"

'hmm.. that feels wrong'

I then used the camera system on it and pointed it on the grass.

"Sigh"

I shouldn't have put so much time on the ACG culture..

It will be helpful yeah, but.. it's not like I searched on G*ogle how to make a knife.. that would have been useful right now.

I regain my energy and I decide to walk again.

'So.. I just need to learn for the system to be usable. Now about my bootleg Hakai.'

"System, info on 『Matter Destruction』."

『Matter Destruction』

This ability will turn any matter that the user is touching into dust. The size and speed  of this ability varies on the amount of energy the user puts on this ability.

"Right"

I picked up another bug. And I use 『Matter Destruction』on it. I put more focus onto speed.

"Hakai!"

The bug immediately turned into dust. No energy wave can be seen, it just turned to dust immediately.

Fatigue once again came.

'If the slow bug destruction took 25%, this took.. 50%'

"Let's try my earlier theory"

I put another bag on my palm. I rested for a while, playing with the bug was a bit fun honestly.

When I felt I was back at the optimal state, I use 『Matter Destruction』on the bug.

The bug turned to ashes like before, not fast, not slow. Although this time, I felt a bit.. less tired. So.. was I right?

"System!! Info on 『Matter Destruction』!"

『Matter Destruction』

This ability will turn any matter that the user is touching into dust. The size and speed  of this ability varies on the amount of energy the user puts on this ability.

This ability will slowly become more efficient on energy usage.

'So.. I was right.'

A smile creeps up into my face. I then start to walk on the 'west' direction again, but this time I decide to use 『Matter Destruction』to make it more efficient.

I hope no more animals like the wolf comes.
