11 Chapter 11 - Old Acquaintance

That morning, after I dropped Alicia and Melissa off at their company. I went straight back to the warehouse on our private island to sell the Soladinium that I had gotten last night.

Honestly, after seeing the explosive effect that this thing could create, I was kinda scared to take it with me. I then took the bag containing the Soladinium from the warehouse, and put it into the trunk of the car.

After that, I immediately drove my car to a place that I had planned beforehand. It was a military post located between the Garden District and the Imperial Castle, I had contacted someone at this place through Alicia before I came here.

I passed through the gate after verifying my identity and drove my car to the parking lot, after I arrived at the parking lot, the person I promised to meet was already there waiting for me, in a waiting seat near the entrance.

Just as I got out of the car, she walked up to me and greets me.

"Sir Denzelnas, I've been waiting for you."

Just like before, she was still wearing her business clothes.

"Thank you for waiting, Miss Adelina. I can call you Miss Adelina, right?"

"Sure, it's fine. I don't have a last name anyway."

That's right, the person I met this time was Miss Adelina. I had contacted her through Alicia to sell the Soladinium I got, actually my purpose for meeting her was not just for this Soladinium.

"Sir Denzelnas, did you bring the Soladinium you wanted to sell?"

"Yeah, it's in the trunk of my car. Wait a moment, I'll take it out of my car."

I took out the bag containing the pure Soladinium and placed it in front of her.

"Here, if you've confirmed the price, just let Alicia know."

"Very well, Sir Denzelnas."

She tried to lift the bag, but she seemed unable to do so. She then smiled wryly and said.

"Um... Looks like I'll have to ask someone to carry it for me."

"I'll do it."

I still have business to do with her anyway.

" Thank you, Sir Denzelnas. Then come with me."

I helped Miss Adelina to carry the bag to her room, it seemed like she was quite an important person in this place, because whenever we passed someone they would immediately salute her. What was her position again? I forgot.

After we got to her room, she told me to put the bag in the corner of the room.

"Sir Denzelnas, please take a seat. I'll brew some tea."

"Thanks."

I sat on the sofa while waiting for her to prepare the tea, soon Miss Adelina came and placed her tea on the table in front of me before sitting on the chair opposite.

She sipped her tea and said.

"So, what do you need, Sir Denzelnas? Miss Alicia said that you also have other business other than selling the Soladinium."

"Well, about that. I'd like to ask you to get me a Mecha Pilot License."

"Uh, why? Ah.... that's right. You didn't graduate from the Pilot Academy."

" Yeah, that's why I'm asking you to help me. Do I have to take some kind of test?"

"No, for a Pilot as good as you who blew up the space pirates' warehouse and managed to escape undetected, there is no need."

Hearing her words, my hand that was moving to pick up the tea cup on the table stopped.

" You know already?"

"Yes, Miss Alicia asked for my help if the military had any problems with what you did last night and she wanted me to clean it up."

Alicia did that?

"Then thank you, i guess."

"No, that won't be necessary, Sir Denzelnas. After all, the military is glad with what you did. If only you had an MPL, we would definitely give you their bounty reward."

That's right, I should have made a Mecha Pilot License first before doing this, but I completely forgot about it. Actually, a pilot, doesn't need an MPL to do the kind of work I do. They just need to find a company or person who wants to hire them.

Or, go to a place called the Justice Association. It was a place where independent pilots and mercenaries could find work, they had branches on every planet, so you could find them anywhere and each branch was controlled by the government of that planet.

It's just that there will be penalties for people who have accepted jobs from there but don't complete them for no apparent reason. In short, they are like the adventurer's guild in RPG games.

You can accept a job there without a Mecha Pilot License or Mercenaries Lisense. However, the chances of you being accepted are also very slim. That's because they prioritize licensed pilots or mercenaries.

That said, being able to receive a job there is also one of my goals after obtaining the license, but that is not my main goal. My main goal is so I can access a forum specifically for licensed pilots or mercenaries, and that is very important for my plans for the future.

I asked Miss Adelina again.

"So, can you do it, Miss Adelina?"

"Yes, but it might take a while to complete. And about that Soladinium, I think I can complete the transaction tonight."

"Thank you, Miss Adelina. I appreciate it, I'll be going then."

"Yes, let me escort you out, Sir Denzelnas."

After that, Miss Adelina drove me to the parking lot. I then got into my car before thanking her and saying goodbye. I thought she would ask about that thing, but she didn't. Did she forget?

I decided to bring her something next time, the next time I visited her.

*******

"I'm in."

"Just in time!"

Just as I walked into Alicia's room in her company building, Melissa immediately pointed and shouted at me.

"What's wrong?"

I asked and sat down on the sofa next to Alicia before putting the ice cream I bought on the table.

"We want to go to the mall to shop for a new dress."

"And you're going to give us a ride."

They both said that right after I sat down.

Ooh, I wondered what. Turns out it's just a shopping escort.

"But what for? Is there a special event or something?"

"Next week there will be a celebration of the formation of the UEMA Empire, and all representatives of influential families in the Empire should come."

Melissa said that while eating the ice cream I bought. Wait, when did she take that?

I then turned to Alicia and asked.

"Do we really have to go?"

Alicia unwrapped the ice cream she took and said.

"Yeah."

"But I don't remember going last year or any other year."

"That time your mom was the one who went because she was the head of the family, but now you're the head of the family. So you have to go, and as your wife I have to go too. Ah..."

Alicia made an expression like she had just remembered something.

"Melissa has to go as well, because she's your first mistress."

Hearing Alicia's words, Melissa immediately swallowed her ice cream and shouted.

"Lady Alicia, I told you that I would say it myself, right!?"

"Actually you didn't have to, I already knew."

Hearing my words, Melissa was dumbfounded while Alicia enjoyed her ice cream as if nothing had happened.

Melissa then asked me with a surprised look.

"You knew?"

"Yeah, I saw it on our family card while taking care of something."

Melissa was silent for a moment, like she really didn't expect that I already knew. But her expression soon changed to an angry expression and said.

"Even so, don't think I'll do what you say just because I'm your concubine!"

"Yeah, yeah."

"Hey, don't ignore me damn it!"

I waved my hand at her and turned my gaze to Alicia.

"When are we leaving?"

"After I finish this ice cream."

"Roger that, ma'm."

*******

"So, which mall are we going to?"

Before I started driving, I asked Alicia and Melissa where we were going.

"Garden Mall, it's on the outskirts of the Garden District."

"Just hurry up and stop asking questions."

"Okay, okay. Just be patient for godsake."

I wondered why Melissa was so excited.

I then drove my car to the mall Alicia had mentioned, and arrived there about 15 minutes later. Since the parking lot and the mall were quite far apart, I dropped Alicia and Melissa off first, while I parked my car in the parking lot.

However, on my way to our meeting place, as I was in the hallway connecting the parking lot and the mall, I heard someone calling out to me.

"Hey, you there!"

I then turned towards the direction of the voice and saw not far from me, there was a 12-year-old girl wearing a lab coat who looked bigger than her.

Although there weren't many people here, I still pointed at myself to make sure what she was calling was me.

"Yes, you! Come here!"

After confirming that it was indeed me she was calling, I then walked towards her. When I got close enough to her, I somehow felt that she looked very familiar. She was about 150 cm tall, her straight blonde hair was long down to her back, and her appearance of wearing a lab coat that didn't fit her felt very familiar.

Do I know her?

She then smiled smugly and said.

"Hiro! Long time no see! I didn't realize it was really you, you're taller than I remembered."

Ah, I do know this kid. No, she's not a child. She was my Navigator when I was at the Academy, Lunaria Kasandra. She was an orphan who was accepted into the academy because she was very smart and talented to be a navigator or engineer.

There are three majors at the pilot academy, and they are pilot, navigator, and engineer. And, students from the pilot and navigator majors will be paired with each other. That's because Official pilots usually work with navigators. If explained in short, navigators detect threats or such before they can threaten the pilot.

Basically, they are like AWACS operators. They use drones, and scan the battlefield to help pilots detect enemies.

And this girl, was my navigator when I was in the academy and also one of the heroine in the novel. But the protagonist hadn't managed to get her before I stopped reading.

No wonder she feels so familiar, the me in this world and the me from my past life both know her.

" I thought it was who, but it turned out to be you Luna."

"So cold, even though it's been a long time since we met."

She said that with a pout.

"So, what's up? I'm in a hurry."

"Oh, come on. There are a lot of things I want to ask you you know!"

She said that while rolling her eyes and crossing her arms. Seeing her attitude, I sighed and scratched the back of my head.

"*Sigh* What do you want to asked?"

"A lot, including why you suddenly disappeared from the academy, because of that I had to leave the academy as well you know?"

"Huh? Why did you leave the Academy?"

She averted her eyes from me and replied irritably.

"Even without asking you should know what my personality is like, right? I couldn't find a suitable partner after you left."

Personality, huh? Come to think of it, what was this girl's personality again? Lazy, grumpy, bossy, whiny, and....

"Oh yeah, makes sense. No wonder no one wants to be your partner."

"Don't say it that obvious, you bastard! I don't really like the Academy anyway."

She said that angrily and tried to kick my calf, but I was able to dodge it easily.

"Tsk, as usual. You can always dodge that."

She muttered so before pointing her index finger at me and said.

"Okay, I've answered your question. Now it's your turn!"

"Just some family problem."

"What family problems!?"

"It's a long story."

"Keep it short!"

This girl really....

"My father is dead and I decided to quit being a pilot."

"Ooh...."

Hearing my answer, the smug smile on Luna's face disappeared.

"Sorry."

"Nah, it's fine."

She was silent for a moment, before looking at me again before saying with a lackluster expression.

"So you don't want to be a pilot anymore?"

"No, I'm a pilot now. Although I'm an independent pilot, not an official pilot."

Hearing my words, I could see the excitement return to Luna's face.

"Then make me your navigator! I guarantee you won't regret it."

She said that in a cocky tone and puffed out her chest that looked very flat.

"You heard what I said, right? I'm an independent pilot."

"So?"

"You won't get paid monthly."

"I don't care. As long as you provide me with a place to stay and food, you don't have to give me a monthly salary."

"You have a lot to ask for, huh. As usual."

But actually, her proposal wasn't that bad either. As I recall, Luna was a pretty good navigator, not only that, since I already knew her, I could also trust her.

Seeing that I didn't answer, Luna began to whine and tug at the hem of my shirt.

"Oh, come on Hiro. I hate where I work now, but I have no other choice because they're the only ones who will take me in."

This girl, I'm sure that if it wasn't for her being lazy to apply for a bigger company, she would already be living a rich life. In fact, in the future. She will be accepted by a Mecha manufacturing company from Yggdrasil, the Elf planet. When she accidentally met the leader of the company on a business trip.

She whined at me again.

"Hiro, please. My bills are piling up you know? One more missed apartment bill and they'll kick me out."

"Is the company you work for not paying you?"

When I asked that, Luna averted her eyes and said.

"The salary is small, and my expenses are too much."

"Then match your expenses with your salary."

"I can't help it, okay? I can't stop myself from shopping!"

This girl's personality is really problematic. But I have to admit, if she worked for me, it would reduce my Mecha's maintenance costs since she could repair it, not to mention, I also can't install the AI Chip myself and haven't found anyone to do it.

Luna may not be able to do that now, but she can definitely do it later. Considering that one day she could work as one of the engineers of the Mecha manufacturing company from Yggdrasil.

However, the problem was this girl's personality, and also....

"Alright, I'll accept you."

Upon hearing my words, Luna immediately jumped up in excitement.

"But that's if my wife agrees."

"Eh'...."

Hearing my words, the happy expression on Luna's face instantly disappeared and was replaced with a dumbfounded expression.

She then approached me, and tugged on my shirt collar.

"Why!? I thought you were going to marry me!!!"

What the f*ck!

"Why did you think I'm gonna marry you?"

" I mean, when we were at the academy I was the only woman you knew!"

"What do you mean? You're not the only woman...."

No, wait. I guess she was right, she was indeed the only woman I've known since I was at the academy besides my mom, Alicia, and Aunt Julia.

"Even though we used to always be together...."

Luna said that sadly, she then looked at me with sad eyes and said.

"Who is your wife?"

"Alicia, I've known her since childhood. And Melissa, her maid."

"Eh'...."

Once again, Luna made a surprised face.

"You have two wives?"

"Yep."

Her sad face instantly changed to disgust. I knew it, this girl must want to marry me just because of the money I have.

"Wow, thank goodness I didn't marry an asshole like you."

She then took off my collar and quickly moved away from me before looking at me with a condescending gaze.

"Shut up, who would want to marry you anyway. And also, polygamy in this empire is normal."

This goddamn legal loli, if it wasn't for her skills I would never have hired her as my navigator.

I then urged her to come with me.

"Now come with me, my wife is waiting for me at the cafe in the Mall. If you can get her permission, then I will accept you."

"Okay."

She said that casually and walked beside me. Out of curiosity, I asked her.

"By the way, what are you doing here?"

" Of course it's shopping, right? What else?"

She said that as if it was obvious.

No wonder she can't pay her monthly bill, what a greedy girl.

While walking to our meeting place, I thought about how to explain this situation to Alicia and Melissa.
