1 I Died...

Ugh, it's raining again...Hopefully, it won't be long after school ends. I go to Highlander High(some name huh). The reason why is because the region is at a higher elevation than the surrounding schools. Oh, plus it's my birthday as well. My parents had texted me that I have a present waiting for me at home.

"Ugh...How many more hours..."

I look out of the window taking in the grey weather with drops of rain colliding with the window. I wonder how long rain can last? Or at least the longest it can be. Twenty hours maybe? Maybe I could search it up in class.

As I take out my phone I notice a notification from my mother. I wonder what she sent. Before I read it I make sure no one will snitch on me for being on my phone, and ensure the teacher isn't looking in my direction.

"Honey, I hope you are excited about your birthday gift at home. I would've likely not given you hints but because you're pretty smart you would likely figure out I had something planned anyways. Stay safe when coming home! Heard the rain will last at least 2 more hours after school ends."

Huh, wonder how she got information about the rain forecast so specifically. Likely weather forecast at home. Oh well, I still got about 2 and a half hours of school left. Might chat with my classmates during break time.

Ring! Ring!

"Huh?" realizing I said that out loud. Looking around if someone laughs at me. No one seemed to have.

"Attention all students school will be ending early due to the weather. Due to the location of the school, the rain is gathering, and will be difficult for students to leave campus since most live lower elevation. Thank you for listening, have a great day, students. Be safe!" with a click at the end signaling the end of the announcement.

Welp, I guess I get to go home early! This means I can surprise them that I'm about 2 hours early. I like 15 minutes away from school but the weather might take longer to get home. Not preferable.

-5 minutes later-

I put all my school supplies in my backpack and get ready to head out, but got stopped by some murmuring I hear just before entering the door.

"Did you hear, someone has been really sad lately and had been moping outside the school campus route to a bus stop?"

"Maybe we should wait for our parents to pick us up after the rain just to be sure."

The conversation seemed to be about some dude outside moping. I hope he is okay but then again could be someone bad. Plus with everything going on about violence in the modern-day. Maybe I should take a different route home but that's like an extra 20 minutes of walking in the rain…This means I could be walking through the rain for roughly 40 minutes or more!

Ugh, better safe than sorry.

But I don't have a raincoat, so I will have to have my normal clothes soaked. Why did I bother not looking at the forecast? I sigh in annoyance but I think it is for the best.

As I continue to walk I see a man with a black raincoat sitting under a bus stop. Shit! I thought he would be sitting on the main route from school, not the second route! Who hangs out on the second route unless…unless they wanted to be alone or not in an active area.

I continue to walk past him but feel off for some reason. I look behind me to check and he seems to still be sitting there. I feel my heartbeat go up tremendously. But I shouldn't do or say anything to him under the coat. I would assume he is a student but his jacket is instead colored Red and yellow striped. Not a color of someone sad but maybe it was all he had.

I try to walk past him not looking at him, not saying anything but then-

BANG!

As if everything had stopped I feel as if my body has been released of all weight and feeling. Followed up by the feeling and pain of falling forward on the pavement in the rain. I feel a sharp pain and heat in my stomach.

"Agh! Wh-what the hell! Ugh! Wh-why!" as I scream in agony rolling over to see who might've done it.

This man was sitting when he shot me. It hurts so much! I am lucky he shot me once but he might again. The man sitting under the bus stop stands lowering his gun and turns his head to me. My eyes are water from both rain and tears. By this point, my tears are being washed away from the rain, but my sadness and fear are higher than ever now.

The man's eyes show sadness as well. But different, as if he had been thinking about something and had been on the edge about it. What did I do to this man for him to do such a horrible thing?

As I cry and have no response, I turn over trying to get my phone from my pocket to call but it's not in my pocket. I realize in horror it was in my backpack, which is currently on my back and I am leaning on. The man starts walking up to me slowly with his sidearm. As to my horror.

"Pl-please! Don't hurt me! I didn't…I didn't do anything" through my sobs I realized it was pointless as he raised his right arm and points it. It's over. I attempt to say something but it was too late

BANG!

Sudden silence. No pain, no feeling, nor life or light. I look around realizing I am just in a void. A void of nothingness.
