16 Its Actually Pretty Overwhelming

The cockroache still chasing him. Barry gritted his teeth. His feet landed on the roof of a car then he kicked it again to shoot forward.

Shortly after Barry left the top of the car the Evolved Cockroach landed and bent the roof. Then it shoot after him.

The cockroach can no longer fly but it can still use its wings to propel its jumps which makes it float for a while.

This allows the cockroach to chase Barry even though he is using Gravity Manipulation.

Barry thought that the Evolved Cockroach is no stronger than the big zombie he fought earlier. Its just, its Defense is too high and it has higher survivability.

Apart from that, its form also makes Barry more horrified when fighting it.

He saw that Elaine was already at the place and waiting for him. It turns out the Quick Step skill made her speed increase more than he thought.

Barry saw that Elaine had a stiff face. She bit her lip hard and her eyes widened at what was coming behind him.

The fuel truck that rolled over was not far from him.

"Run!" Barry shouted at Elaine.

Luckily, this time Elaine is no longer frozen. She immediately dashed with her Quick Step and widened the distance between them in the blink of an eye.

Elaine passed through the puddles of gasoline with ease. Barry arrived at the puddle a moment later, the Evolved Cockroach tailing behind him like a predator that had been eyeing its prey for a long time.

Barry floated and landed in a puddle of gasoline.

'I just wait for those damn cockroaches to step on this and-'

He slipped forward. Barry fell and rolled over. With his Gravity Manipulation still active, Barry's rolling speed is very fast.

He bounced several times on the gasoline then hit a car hard. The gun was thrown from his hand, falling cluttered on the asphalt of the road.

Barry groaned, feeling pain in his head and back.

When he opened his eyes, the Evolved Cockroach was already above the puddle. But, now there is no longer a gun in his hand...

Barry turned his head when he felt an electromagnetic pull from next to him.

*ZAP!*

*BLARRR!*

Elaine fired a lightning bolt towards the puddle of gasoline. Fire immediately created and devoured the Evolved Cockroach.

Elaine then pulled Barry as far away from that place as possible. Barry's whole body was covered in gasoline. If he was even slightly hit by the flames, Barry could get burned too.

*KA-BOOM!*

Explosion after explosion was heard. Barry turned and saw that another car there had exploded.

Those cars had previously been flooded with spilled gasoline so with just a small spark they exploded. So a much bigger explosion than he was expecting occurred.

Barry was a bit regretful because he only used that much explosive power to kill a cockroach. It could be used to kill a bigger and more dangerous monster.

"You okay?" Elaine asked.

Barry nodded. "Yeah."

"Uhm, I got a notification that the cockroach was dead."

Barry turned to her. "So you got it too?"

"Yes. Even though you are the one who plays more of a role killing it." Elaine looked a little guilty.

"How much experience did you get?"

"35."

'Slightly higher then mine.' Barry thought.

It turns out that if more than one person kills a monster, the experience gained will be divided according to their number and contribution.

Barry suddenly thought that he had to find out for himself about everything that was happening in this changed world.

'It would be great if there was a hot succubus to accompany me and explain things.' He thought.

Barry sighed. "It's all a bit of a waste just to kill a monster of that Level. But, cockroaches are really troublesome. Oh, and don't think about the amount of experience you receive. In the end, you're the one who kills it."

Hearing that, Elaine's face became calmer.

"We have to get back to the car and get out of here before another monsters comes."

Elaine nodded and they headed back towards the parking lot.

Somehow, there weren't any monsters along their journey. Elaine started the car and immediately drove away from the area to the east.

Elaine drives the car at high speed. She concentrated on not hitting vehicles that had accidents and were scattered around the road.

Meanwhile Barry kept looking around for any danger that might come.

Zombies and monsters and evolved animals roam the city. Some people who still can't adjust to the new force that has awaken in this world can only run away with feelings of despair, or just lay dead where monsters and zombies are eating them. 

Elaine grimaced. Even though she tried to look strong, everything that happened still made her feel various emotions.

She was nauseous, sad, and afraid. All these emotions mixed into one when seeing those people die in tragic circumstances.

'They don't know anything...' Elaine bit her lip. Her stomach knotted and twisted.

She stopped the car and immediately got out then vomited on the side of the road. Barry who saw that just let her because he understood.

What Elaine feels is completely normal. All the burdens of the day that she had been holding back now came crushing down on her.

Instead, Barry feels abnormal because he can handle everything that happens more calmly.

He felt a little scared and nauseous when he saw people die. Zombies and monsters who constantly target their lives are also a problem.

However, he can control himself well. He admitted that his attitude was caused by his habit of consuming web novels about events like this.

That might sound strange to people who hear it. But it's the truth. Those web novels made him immediately aware of the unknown force that was awakening within him and what he should do with it.

That way he can survive longer. Fortunately, his sister also read several web novels that he recommended. Hopefully, she too can use that knowledge and survive with their mother.

Elaine returned to the car a few minutes later. Her face was pale. She drank a mineral water that had not been touched in the car then they continued their journey.
