24 A Good Night's Rest

When Aaron opened his eyes the next time, he let out a soft groan after being assaulted by the bright light pouring in through the glass window.

Feeling a little dazed, he grimaced while trying to recall where he was right now.

'Right… Hospital….' He thought to himself and a bitter smile formed on his lips.

The harsh light entering the room revealed that the next day had arrived already.

Staring at the pale white ceiling, the drowsy man took a few moments to straighten out his thoughts.

After he had reached a certain conclusion last night, he had shut his eyes to focus on his thoughts but it seemed that he had fallen asleep at some point.

The fatigue he had felt within him yesterday had dissipated after a good night's rest.

So Aaron decided to use this energy to get out of bed and begin his day.

However, just when he tried to sit up, he felt as though an immovable pressure was placed on him making it difficult to move his body.

The moment he had woken up, he felt a weight on his chest but had not given it too much thought though now his inability to move brought up a strange panic in his heart, worried that this might be a side effect caused by his excessive drinking.

Thus he lowered his head in haste to check what was wrong with his body.

However, the sight he laid eyes on, succeeded in wiping away this panic and an incredulous chuckle slipped past his lips instead.

"So clingy!" He muttered under his breath with disgust spewing from his tone but his curved eyes proved that his words did not match what he was feeling right now.

On the hospital bed where he was laying right now was another figure who seemed to have climbed in with him sometime last night.

That figure was fast asleep next to him and had even gone as far as to rest half of its body's weight on him, the patient, which explained his struggle to move his body freely.

Only taking a look at the short, dirty blond hair was sufficient for Aaron to figure out who this intruder was yet he did not wake this clingy figure.

Instead, he laid stiffly in place and did his best to not move too much lest he disturbed the other person's sleep.

"How are you feeling now?" A hoarse whisper echoed in the room which had been filled with sounds of light breathing until now.

Startled to hear this voice, Aaron whiplashed in its direction and sighed when he realized who it belonged to.

Sitting up on the couch in this room was Jacob, the one who had just spoken up and was now observing him intently.

Being a light sleeper, he had woken up the moment Aaron had let out that groan but did not let him know about it.

He had simply watched his friend to detect any abnormalities and only after making sure that there was nothing strange did he make his presence known.

Last night, when the three friends had returned to the room, Aaron was already fast asleep so they had not been able to check on his condition.

Now that he was awake, Jacob used this opportunity to inquire about his health as he sat upright on the couch where he had slept the previous night.

None of the three friends had left Aaron's side last night.

They simply found any place they could to rest for the next few hours before the sun could rise.

Jacob had declared the couch to be his as it had been all along so Boston had announced sovereignty over the seat next to the bed which had belonged to Lance previously.

This left Lance with the worst option, the floor, but he had strongly objected before nimbly climbing into bed with the sleeping patient himself.

Therefore, right now, Jacob was adjusting his wrinkled clothes while seated on the couch, Boston could be seen showing signs of awakening on the uncomfortable chair he had slept on, whereas Lance was still fast asleep, snuggling next to the patient who was now awake and looking around.

"Much better." Aaron answered the query and even smiled to prove that he wasn't lying.

This conversation had awakened Boston fully and he nodded his head when these were the first proper words he had heard after he regained his senses.

"Mmnn… Good good…" He replied as he rubbed his weary eyes after having struggled to find a comfortable spot on this chair all night long.

His neck and his back were hurting so Boston glared at the fool who was still sleeping like a little pig on the patient's bed, even going as far as cuddling with him.

'I never would have fought for the chair had I known how uncomfortable it was!' He grumbled inwardly but at the same time, he scoffed as he knew that he would not have any other place to sleep had it not been for this chair.

He wasn't like Lance, the most childish of their group.

Therefore, he never would have gotten into Aaron's bed to snuggle with him like Lance was doing even at this very moment.

So Boston had no choice but to hold in his dissatisfaction with his sleeping arrangement as he stretched his rigid back to ease the tension that had built up throughout the night.

Now glancing around the room, he felt envious as he was the only one who seemed uncomfortable while the rest had gotten a good night's rest.

However, thinking that he could head back home soon and sleep some more, he felt a lot better but at the same time, he shot Lance a disgusted look when he saw him sleeping without a care.

'I just want to kick his face in!' He scoffed right when Lance had snuggled closer to the patient and even rubbed his cheek against the other person's chest.

Aaron, whose chest was being rubbed against, froze and widened his eyes.

"Hey! Fool! Who are you thinking about in your sleep!?" He cursed when he felt something hard poking against his thigh just a second ago.

The other two men's eyes too shifted in a certain direction and soon snickers filled the room after they noticed something peculiar there.

Just when the disgusted mutters coming from the three awakened friends echoed in the room, the door was pushed open.

The sudden arrival of two men had interrupted their curses but the one who was lost in his dreams had not yet sensed the presence of this certain somebody.

The tall man dressed in a doctor's coat now sporting thin gold-framed glasses scanned the room before his gaze fell on the two men laying in bed.

Aaron shot this newcomer an awkward smile while nudging the sleeping pig lying next to him.

However, Lance, who was completely unaware of the danger lurking close to him, let out an unhappy grunt before continuing to sleep leisurely.

"Hospital beds are for patients." A cold voice was heard and in the next second a loud thud echoed in the room.

Boston flinched, Aaron shut his eyes, and Jacob shook his head when a miserable cry followed that loud thud.

"Motherfu-" Lance howled when something hard came crashing down on his head just when he was at the best part of his dream.

However, when his eyes met with the one who had brought him this pain, the curse flying out of his mouth was swallowed in the very next second.

His gaze flitted between his elder brother who somehow had appeared here and the hard plastic clipboard in his hand which was also the main culprit behind the throbbing bump now growing on Lance's head.

"Big Brother?" He muttered in a daze after being so abruptly awakened from his dream and scanned the room for a quick second before he realized what was going on here.

"Good morning…" He sheepishly greeted his elder brother who seemed to have come to check up on the patient with his assistant, the other man standing by the door.

Being bullied the first thing in the morning was not something he enjoyed so Lance hurriedly jumped out of the bed to create some safe distance between himself and his elder brother.

However, soon he felt his cheeks heating up when he lowered his gaze only to find an unexpected and certainly unwelcomed guest in his pants right now.

As if discovering that he had woken up with an erection wasn't embarrassing enough, he heard his brother muttering, 'pervert' which further caused his cheeks to flush a deeper tone of red.

However, he refused to let this incident be used against him so he glared at his elder brother without delay.

"It's a natural male response." He defended himself and rushed into the washroom without giving his brother a chance to retort.

Doctor Preston's assistant, who had witnessed the brother's constant bickering numerous times in the past, chuckled at this sight but hurriedly covered his face with the file he was holding.

Thankfully, no one seemed to have noticed his actions as they were busy focusing on the doctor and patient in this room.
