Chapter 47: Blue Skies

I canceled my transformation and immediately felt a wave of exhaustion. I had rough breathing and slumped to the floor. I saw Amber running to me and made me lean on her body.

"Jun are you okay!" said Amber worried she checked if there were any injuries on my body

"Yeah… just tired, That new transformation draws a lot of my power when I use it."

Amber relaxed after hearing that, "Thank goodness."

The rest of the group came and thanked me

"You've done well Jun, I have never seen a display of power like that. If it was not for you we would all have been lost." said Jean

"Don't mind it Jean, I was just desperate to save all of you."

Venti was pleased with my response, "You were like a hero who overcame at the last moment. This will be a great tale to tell. I will be sharing this in my next performance." Venti was elated at how everything turned out

"Paimon thought we were done there for a moment. You all were on the ground and were not waking up. It was a good thing Jun pulled through in the end."

"Huhuhu cutie always seems to have surprises." said Lisa

"You really are troublesome. You could have done that earlier and we could have finished sooner." said Eula with a bit of irritation but she was grateful

"Hahaha… sorry Eula. By the way… Lumine, I think you should cleanse Dvalin right now when he is still unconscious. I only dissipated the dark aura, he should still have the corruption inside him."

Lumine nodded and went toward Dvalin. Venti joined her in case there were any complications. After half an hour Lumine was able to cleanse all of the corruption from Dvalin. He opened his eyes after a few minutes. "Barbatos…"

"How are you feeling my friend?"

"Better… All of the pain… is gone."

"That is good news. Without the help of everyone, we would not have been able to bring you back."

Dvalin looked at us and said, "Thank you… all of you. Forgive me for all of the destruction I have caused."

"All is forgiven, Dvalin. You were not in the right state of mind and were manipulated, and given what you had done for Mondstadt. It was only natural we helped you." said Jean

"Thank you… "

Dvalin felt at ease knowing we did not resent him. When we were finished I asked him, "Excuse me Dvalin, I would like to ask you something."

"What is your question?"

"Do you have any idea who turned you into a dark version of yourself?"

Dvalin tensed as he remembered the man, "Yes… I was trying to fight the corruption but I was already weakened and could not have stopped it. A man in a cloak controlled me."

We all were alarmed and now had a clue about who caused all of this, "Is there any more you can remember?"

"I'm sorry my memory of when I was corrupted is blank. It was as if I had no control of myself and only relied on instinct and was following his commands."

"I see…" I was disappointed we could not get any more information

"But… I do recall when he gave me the order to kill Barbatos and the 'Rider'."

"Huh!?" I was shocked, someone was after me.

"Rider? Come to think of it, Jun you said you were a Kamen Rider when you used the belt right?" said Lumine

"Yeah… Rider is just the shortened version of Kamen Rider. So someone wants me gone and he is responsible for the dark aura."

Amber was worried that someone was specifically targeting me. She held my hand worried "Is it also why the Hypostasis attacked us before, because it was after you?"

"Perhaps, this just keeps getting mysterious. I don't remember offending anyone besides I guess the Abyss Order and Fatui but they are not capable of a feat like this."

"I agree, If they were capable of this I would have heard them using it before." said Diluc agreeing

"In any case, this will warrant further investigation. But now that we have accomplished our mission we should head back to Mondstadt."

We all nodded and did not argue since we were all tired. I was a bit reluctant but Jean was right. It was no use to think more about the mysterious persona without more clues. I don't know why he is targeting me and I guess only time will tell.

Venti went up to Dvalin and made a request "Do you think you can carry us Dvalin."

"I would gladly send you all to Mondstadt. Consider it my thanks."

We all got on his back and Dvalin took flight. When we were high up in the sky the sky was clear and blue and below us was the old capital. The view was amazing and breathtaking. The heavy storms where we just fought started to dissipate and the floating platforms crumbled.

"It's been a while since we flew like this together, huh, Dvalin?"

"Yes, it has… Why did you not command me to take you to Mondstadt."

"Freedom, if demanded of you by an archon, is really no freedom at all."

Venti created an orb of Anemo energy and was absorbed by Dvalin, "Is this... the power of the Anemo Archon? But I am no longer part of the Four Winds."

"Even if that's so, you are still part of Mondstadt regardless. Now, spread your wings of freedom and go with my blessing."

Jean Office - Jean POV

"And so, the Stormterror threat was quelled. I clarified the misunderstanding to the citizens of Mondstadt and let them know that they are safe. To them, it seems Stormterror attacked Mondstadt out of nowhere and then vanished just as quickly. They must be finding the whole ordeal very confusing. However, winds change their course. Someday, they will blow towards a brighter future."
