19 Chapter 19: Clear Sky
After the defeat of the abyss mage Lisa and I destroyed the wind core of the domain finishing our objective
"We are finally done," Lisa said in relief
"Yeah, How did the abyss mage know we would be here?"
"I don't know this must run deeper than we think. In any case, I need to report this to Jean."
"Lisa, do you know anything more about Stormterror?"
Lisa crossed her arms in contemplation thinking about what I just said
"Dragon of the East, Lion of the South, Wolf of the North, Falcon of the West… They are the Four Winds of Mondstadt, affiliated with Barbatos, the God of Anemo. The Dragon of the East, Stormterror… its real name is Dvalin. However, most in Mondstadt seem to have forgotten that in all this "Stormterror'' business. So now you know why Dvalin is only able to channel three of the Four Winds' power, Because it has been consuming itself from the beginning.
I already knew this but I just wanted to ask in case there are any difference
"Do you know why it is attacking Mondstadt?"
"Hatred I presume. Its hatred for Mondstadt drove it to become something more powerful than the wind itself — to become Stormterror."
"I don't know Lisa, I seem too unbelievable for a dragon to suddenly be angry just to be forgotten. Have there any records of Dvalin wanting to be worshiped?"
"I've read the books and there don't seem to be any records of Dvalin needing worship from the people. Although we the people of Mondstadt respect him."
"Then I don't believe he just attacks just because the people have forgotten him. In fact, having an abyss mage here makes it suspicious.
"So you think the abyss order has something to do with Dvalin attacking Mondstadt?"
The Abyss Order is a mysterious, but powerful legion of monsters from the Abyss who are the enemies of both humanity and surface civilization and thrive in many corners of Teyvat.
"I believe so."
In the game, Dvalin was attacking Mondstadt because he was corrupted 500 years ago. He fought against a corrupted black dragon named Durin and Dvalin was corrupted. He spent the next 500 years recuperating but the curse of Durin is accumulating in him and tormenting him. When he woke he was not in the right state of mind and the abyss order corrupted his mind even further instigating his attack on Mondstadt
"Hmm… if what you are saying is true the Mondstadt could be in more danger. I need to discuss this with Jean, but for now, let us return to Mondstadt."
We exited the domain and saw the clouds parting. The storm stops and is replaced by a bright and beautiful blue sky. We returned to Mondstadt and when we reached the gates we saw the rest of the group. Lumine, Paimon, Amber, Jean, and Kaeya were there waiting for us.
"Hey~! You guys have arrived, Paimon was starting to get worried that you two wouldn't show up."
"We had some complications… an abyss mage ambushed us. Fortunately, we were strong enough to defeat him ourselves."
"What is an abyss mage? " Paimon said
You explained to Paimon and Lumine who are the Abyss Order
"They are that dangerous!" Paimon was scared knowing about the Abyss Order and was concerned with us encountering them
"Why would an abyss mage be in one of the temples?"
"You guys didn't run into one?"
"No, Lumine, Paimon, and I just faced some slimes and hilichurls nesting in the temple," Amber said
"Kaeya and I also encountered an abyss mage, we had someone help us defeat ours although," Jean said
"Do you know who it is?" Paimon asked curiously
"It is someone I am familiar with."
"Who is it?"
"I won't say his name for now, he doesn't like to be in the spotlight very much."
'It must have been Diluc who helped them' I thought to myself
"Jean, Jun here shared with me that pertains to Stormterror and the abyss order. We need to discuss this privately." Lisa said
"Okay, but for now thank you all for your help in restoring peace to Mondstadt, however brief it is. I hope to continue requesting your aid when the time comes."
"I'm happy to help Jean."
"Paimon will also gladly help." The traveling duo said
"My power is used to protect Jean, I will gladly help Mondstadt from danger."
"Thank you, all three of you. We three should head back to headquarters. I still have to give instructions to the knights for the aftermath of this incident."
"You three cuties stay safe now and if you need help from me for anything, just find me in the library."
"I hope to treat you three to some drinks when you have time. Contact me when you have troubles, and I'll be sure to listen."
"The three went back to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters leaving only Lumine, Paimon, Amber, and I left
"Do you three have anything left to do," asked Amber
"No, we did just arrive in Mondstadt so we don't know anything."
"Ah, right you did just arrive with everything that happened I completely forgot."
*growl* We all heard that noise and turned to its source
"Paimon is hungry, Lumine, when are we going to eat?"
Lumine slapped her forehead at Paimon's comment
"Hahaha you guys haven't eaten yet, let me treat you two for your arrival in Mondstadt as well as helping."
"Yay! I wonder what Paimon is going to eat~"
"Are you coming as well Jun?"
"Sure, all the fighting and traveling is making me hungry."
"Then it is decided, c'mon let me show you the way."
We all went to Honey Hunter's to eat. Lumine and Paimon met Sara as Amber introduced them. We sat down at an empty table with Amber ordering a variety of food. I made sure to order knowing Paimon's bottomless stomach. I helped Amber split the bill, she initially wanted to reject the offer but I managed to convince her I also wanted to welcome Lumine and Paimon. She reluctantly accepted and split the bill. When we started eating Paimon was inhaling the food down to her small stomach. She kept eating with a big smile on her face as if a black hole resided in her. Watching it in front of me is an eye-opening experience.
"That was delicious~," said Paimon with her stomach looking as if she was a few months pregnant.
"Do you have anywhere to stay Lumine?"
"No, I think I will just be looking for a hotel to stay at for now."
"Okay, let's meet up tomorrow, we forgot to show what we found in the forest to Jean so they might know what it is."
"Oh, right I forgot about it. That seems to be a good idea."
"What was it you found in the forest?" Amber asked
"It was a red glowing stone that was dropped by Dvalin."
"That seems important unfortunately I can't go with you three. I still have to do my patrols tomorrow," said Amber with her head slightly lowered
"Don't worry Amber, we'll find you when we need your help."
"Okay, good luck you three."
We left the restaurant and said goodbye to Lumine and Paimon. As I and Amber were walking back home I asked her
"Amber when we get home there is something I need to tell you."
"What is Jun?"
I held her hand and she was a bit surprised
"!"
"Later it's important," I said smiling at her tenderly
She realized what might I be going to tell and as we got closer to the house our hearts faster and faster
