4 System is Useless

The thug's body dropped to the ground with a thud, his eyes wide open as he died unwillingly.

Lex didn't even look at him and began walking toward the other two thugs, "I'm giving you a chance, I want to go to the academy, so I would rather keep my uniform clean."

The other two thugs hesitated and looked at each other's eyes. They hadn't paid much attention before, but now they could see that Lex was from the Aethrian Academy. And provoking a member of Aethrian Academy was something only a madman would do.

There was also the second thug's death. He was stronger than them but died so easily, and the one who killed him didn't even bat an eye on him. This scared them.

Making another eye contact with each other, they nodded at each other. They then ran in different directions.

Lex didn't do anything to stop them and walked toward the young boy. He said, "Alright, kid, now you can go home."

The white-headed boy looked at Lex with a strange expression on his face as he said, "Umm, big brother, can you take me to my home?"

Lex sighed and crouched down in front of the young boy. "Ouch," He flicked the forehead of the young boy and said, "You're trying to soothe my emotions, right?"

The young boy held his forehead with his hands and looked at Lex in shock. He asked, "How do you know?"

Lex shook his head and said, "Because you're a newbie in that field. Only some small thugs like them would be affected by the soothing of a kid."

The young boy scratched his cheek and said, "So you already knew about it, huh? Well, I was just trying to keep them busy until the enforcers arrive."

He then looked at Lex with his eyes shining and said, "But thanks a lot, big brother, you were so cool there. You didn't even bat an eye while killing that thug. You're awesome. Want me to match you wit– ouch! What was that for?"

Lex again flicked the forehead of the young boy and said, "You're an unusual kid. Anyways, remember to not wear such expensive-looking clothes when you sneak away from your house."

Lex then heard some footsteps and stood up. He ruffled the white hair of the boy and said, "Be careful next time, kid; not everyone is as generous as me. Also, when the enforcers arrive, let them handle all the work and don't tell them about me."

"Gotcha! I'll do as you say; also, please leave your contact information so I can thank you for saving me." The white-headed boy pleaded.

Lex waved his hand as he said, "Don't mention it. Just take care of the enforcers."

After saying that, Lex went on his way to the academy. The young boy just watched as Lex left him alone with a grin on his face.

"Hehe, I know you're not normal; only a few can remain unaffected by my soothing." The boy grinned as he said.

His soothing was a powerful ability, and not everyone could remain unaffected by it. Even if the effect is minimal, they would be affected, but Lex had actually detected his soothing and was completely fine.

Lex could have some mental-related ability, but the boy doubted that. It's simply because Lex was good in physical combat, and no one had ever been documented simultaneously awakening two(or) mental and physical abilities. That's why the boy was intrigued by Lex.

The boy murmured while grinning, "Hehe, Aethrian Academy, aye. Big sis, I've finally found a perfect match for you. Just you wait."

Lex, who was completely unaware of the white-haired boy's plan, continued his walk towards the academy.

[I'm still rather confused by this world. Although I have some guesses, can you tell me some things?]

Lex raised his eyebrows and asked, "You don't know anything? What kind of useless system are you?"

[Aiyo, things happened, and I was also in a hurry, so just tell me.]

"Agh, I really got the useless system. also, where is my reward?" Led asked.

[Ah yes, I forgot about that. Here, take it.]

Lex stopped in his steps as he felt a warm feeling throughout his body and felt as if he had become slightly stronger. He clenched his hands and said, "Although it's small, I can sense the difference; looks like you're not completely useless."

[Right, you can see your status after I fix everything, so wait for it. In that way, you'll be able to see your stats more clearly. Anyway, tell me about those abilities.]

Lex sighed as he restarted his walk and he began explaining to the system in his mind, 'Honestly, even I don't know much about them. Just know that many people in this world awaken abilities when they become 15 years old. Don't ask me how those abilities work cuz I'm not the author of this world.'

'I have some guesses, but they contradict how the abilities work, so I'm not sure. All I know is that when you turn 15, you have to go to one of the statues of Gods and see if you can awaken any abilities. Once you awaken an ability, it remains with you for life, and you have to work hard to master it. It's that simple.'

'If this world has an author, I would certainly pat his back for this lazy writing. Just pick a random ability and give it to a character, and it'll work somehow.' Lex sighed and said.

[Hmm, that's really a convenient power system. Also, regarding the criteria you told me about awakening, is that the only one? I mean, there could be many ways for people to awaken.]

'Aside from that, there is a very rare and only other way. It's when you awaken your ability earlier or late due to some traumatic experience. But as I said, it's very rare.' Lex said while remembering something.

[Alright, I'll use this data to make the status better. Anyway, this is just my curiosity so you can decide if you want to answer it. How could you kill that thug with such a flat face?]
