17 Dvalin

Lex smiled, seeing Lisa's actions, and said, "You're forgetting whose blood Ely is carrying with her. Now, do you understand?"

Lisa tilted her head as she thought about it, and the next moment, her eyes went wide open as she asked, "You don't mean him?"

"Yup, back then, I didn't understand why the big guy gave his blood to Ely, but now I can guess the reason why." Lex sighed. "He must have sensed the ability Ely holds. That's why he gave his blood to her."

"But I still don't understand why are you worried about that," Lisa asked.

Lex shook his head and said, "Because if something happened to Ely, then he would definitely sense it through his blood. I'm not completely sure, but that's my guess, considering he's one of the Mythical Beasts."

"Ohh!" Lisa said as she finally understood everything, "Then he'll definitely come to the capital. And his arrival would bring disasters to the Kingdom for sure."

"Yes, that's what I'm fearing. If, in any case, Innocents died, then Ely would definitely blame herself, and you know just how much we had to do to help her previous time. She has a soft heart." Lex sighed.

Lisa turned silent as she thought about it. She had been with Lex and Elise for many years and knew them very well. She had seen just how Elise was traumatized, and she didn't want to see that happening again.

One of the reasons was, of course, because she cared for Ely. Ely was like a little sister to her. But her main reason was still Lex. She remembered just how devastated Lex looked back then and shivered.

She didn't want that. Lex was her everything, and if he broke down, she knew she wouldn't fare better. For her, Lex was her life.

Lisa closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She didn't want to remember those terrible days, but they always haunted her. Now wasn't the time to think about them.

She opened her eyes and smiled. She looked at Lex and said, "Don't worry, boss, with me here, how can anything happen to Ely? I guarantee that Ely would be perfectly safe."

"That's good then." Lex heaved a sigh of relief, hearing that. Although Lisa acted like that, she was very strong and intelligent, so he was worry-free with her being with Elise.

"By the way, boss, why do you think that big guy is so protective of Ely? I mean, we have seen ourselves, he was ready to massacre everyone just to save Elise. And just like you said, if something happened to Ely, he won't hesitate to raid the capital city, knowing there is an SSS-RANK ability user here." Lisa asked.

"I'm pretty sure he has some of his own motives. But I can see he really cares for Ely. He behaves like a..." Lex shook his head and said, "He's like a father to her. That's why I'm not worrying much about him. Besides, he had helped and saved us, so if he had some motives, then we'll help him."

Lisa nodded and said, "Yup, that much is true. Maybe I'm just being paranoid then, but what if that endangers Ely's life?"

Lex raised his eyebrows and asked in return, looking directly into Lisa's eyes, "Do we have any other option?"

Seeing those eyes, Lisa got her answer and smiled. She nodded and said, "Yup, besides, I doubt Dvalin would do something like that."

"Yeah, anyways, so now you can go and stay with Ely. I'm pretty sure she'll wake up hearing her big sis Lisa's voice." Lex said.

Lisa beamed with happiness as she thought about the cute Elise calling her big sis. She giggled and said, "Gotcha. Then I'm off, boss."

She gave a salute and then drove her bike away to the capital city.

Lex shook his head and also wore his helmet. He started the bike and chose the path that led him to Flaming Lion Colony.

[Host, you fear Dvalin coming to City because of Ely, right?]

'Yeah, what about it?'

[What about the Kingdom itself?]

'As long as innocents don't die, I'm fine with it. Who cares what happens to the Kingdom.'

[Broh, that's your Kingdom.]

'It's not, and you know that too.'

[*Sigh* Why am I getting the feeling you'll either rule it or ruin it.]

'Pretty sure neither.'

[Whatever]

'Work on my status screen instead of predicting the future, you useless system. What are you? A Diviner?'

[Now that you said it, one of my previous hosts was a Diviner.]

'...'

[I'm not joking, really.]

'And he died?'

[Actually, he died the most pitiful death.]

'Oya, you make me curious. Tell the whole story.'

[Hmm, so it went like, once that motherfucker....]

The ride soon went by as Lex chatted with the system and enjoyed the ridiculous story of the previous host.

As Lex was riding, tall walls entered his sight. He looked at them and thought, 'They're probably enchanted, so even the ability users can't enter the colony. Well, nobody's stupid enough to actually invade a military district.'

He got closer to the colony as he could now see the tall red entrance gates of the Flaming Lion Colony. They were closed as usual, and two middle-aged men wearing guard uniforms were sitting there.

Although they looked like normal security guards, anyone who would think that and act against them would surely regret it. Because these two were the seasoned soldiers from the Army.

Lex stopped his bike as he looked at the entrance gate.

[You're thinking they'll deny your entry because you don't have anything to prove you're actually invited and would face humiliation?]

'Damn, are you reading my mind or what?'

[Bruh, it's written all over your face. Also, get over those urban novels please and just enter the colony.]

'Hmm, you're right.' Lex nodded and said, 'Besides if something like that happened, I will break Denny's legs and arms. That guy better pray nothing happens.'
