12 Chapter 12

"No! No! No! I cannot die here! I am the Young Master of Kromorus Viscounty! The heir of House Ilmer! This is not how my life ends!" A young man with spiky red hair said in a way that made it look like he was convincing himself

His feet were moving as fast as they could to run away from the grey wolves chasing behind him

Fortunately for him, as much as he is arrogant, he is also a knowledgeable Young Master. He was not mindlessly running inside the Grandtou Forest. He was leading the grey wolves on the river that could be found inside the forest

As a wilderness near the Viscounty and also the fact this place is where a famous mythical being was sealed for decades, Kami is not completely ignorant of the forest's geography

He roughly knows where the river is and the reason why he has to reach that place, it was simple

Water is essential to almost every living being. A place where potable water is present definitely has many creatures nearby

What Kami wants is to lead the grey wolves on the river and hopes that the other forest dwellers would be provoked and indirectly help him

However, how is it possible for a human to easily outrun wolves, especially in this kind of terrain?

Out of the fifteen grey wolves, despite the fact that Kami only had 1/4 of his papers, he still successfully killed more than five of them on his own

However, there were still almost ten grey wolves that are chasing him and he has no paper weapon to spare anymore

The only thing that he could rely on to hinder the grey wolves and buy himself time is the cover of his notebook

While running, Kami was controlling the black-colored cover of his notebook to block the way of the grey wolves, showing that despite his arrogance he was indeed talented

The cover was the only weapon he has left but even it was not in a good condition. The cover has holes on it that were caused by the claws of these grey wolves

"I'm near! I'm near! I can hear the sound of running water!"

Hope burned in Kami's heart. Adrenaline took over and his speed increased. However, adrenaline alone cannot do everything, it also has its own limitations

When Kami can already see the river, his fatigued caught up. His lungs and legs felt like they were on fire and it was hard for him to move again

His deteriorated physical condition gave the grey wolves the chance and he can sense them pouncing at him

"Nooo!!" He shouted in despair as he watched the wolf block the sunlight with their figure

He was about to die from the grey wolves' claws when a ray of blue energy suddenly appeared and hits the wolf at the very front

That energy ray threw that wolf against the other wolves, effectively saving Kami. But while he was safe for now, his legs cannot muster any strength anymore. His knees gave out and his buttocks met the ground

The energy ray didn't kill the grey wolves and if this goes on Kami would still die. He cursed the grey wolves and also that goblin that causes him to use 3/4 of his paper weapon. If not for that goblin, Kami would have enough paper weapons to kill all of these grey wolves

While lamenting his bad luck and imminent death, he suddenly felt someone grabbing his vest and pulling him away

The next thing that Kami knew is that he is already on someone's shoulder as they moved at a speed that he does not have

The turn of events was too fast for Kami to react immediately but when he returned to his senses he turned to look at the person that helped him

Based on his savior's appearance they should be around at the same age. However, this savior of his looks like a savage as the only thing he was wearing was a beast skirt

"Was I saved by a savage? Is a savage stronger and more talented than me?"

Despite the fact that he almost died earlier, the effect of Kami's upbringing still causes his pride to reach the skies

There are humans that lived in the wild and away from human society. They are often referred to as savages because of how uncivilized they are and these people are looked down upon by other humans

For someone as arrogant as Kami, a savage is as lowly as a goblin. He was actually saved by one and what's with this speed?

Kami judges that if he were to fight with someone with this kind of speed he would definitely lose. After all, speed is King!

What is the use of a powerful attack when it can't even hit the target?

This was the day that Kami suffered the most humiliation and he showed how unreasonable he is

Instead of being grateful to his savior, Kami suddenly pushed Xianth causing the latter to fall to the ground

"Let go of me you savage!" Kami said angrily and Xianth looked at him in confusion

"What the hell?" Xiant spoke out loud causing Kami to glare at him

"What?! Are you looking down at me? Do you think that I cannot kill such lowly grey wolves?! Do you think I am weak and untalented?"

Kami poured out his frustration at the wrong person and Xianth frowned. This type of person is just pure trouble. He does not have the patience to deal with such an unreasonable brat nor does he want to

Xianth is amiable to people who at the very least treat him with the kind of respect you will show to a person you didn't even know. He is not the type of person that could accept a person's bullshit just because that is the kind of personality they have

He doesn't care about their upbringing and the way they grew up. If you are treated with respect then the least you can do is to respect the other party!
