Accidents Happen

Azviel awoke to a splitting headache. He opened his eyes and crack and tried to move himself. Pain instantly flashed through him, from his wings to his feet.

He growled in pain and forced himself to sit up. He opened his eyes fully and looked around. It seemed to be a simple room with a bed and a counter.

Azviel got off the bed and slightly hissed as pain sliced through his legs. Last thing that happened was Falziel binding him while he was letting out everything he had.

Falziel was nowhere to be seen. Azvel pushed open the wooden door to his room and peeked outside. It looked like a simple inn and nothing more. However, there were like no people around.

Azviel walked down the hallway to the front door of the inn. There was still no one around. He quickly pushed open the front door just to see an empty city. He frowned and stretched his wings, preparing to fly up.

Right when he was about to launch himself upwards, a hand was placed on his shoulder. Azviel instinctively unsheathed his long sword and slice it down.

The person jumped back and was wearing completely white. Falziel lifted his hands up in surrender. "Hey! Is that how you repay a person who saved your life?" He stuck his tongue out at him.

Azviel frowned and sheathed his sword. "Where are we."

Falziel sighed. "Look around~ We're still in Elsia."

Azviel took a long look around before muttering, "...There's no people."

Falziel covered the small laugh on his mouth. "Oopsies...It might have been my fault...Don't look at me like that Azviel, it was clearly an accident!"

"I don't see the accident part in this."

Falziel looked away from his gaze. "Heh...Well, you see...When I told you to let out everything on me, I didn't think that your range was so big...I might have underestimated you and let out a bit of an aftermath you see..."

He grabbed Azviel's hand and started pulling him towards the front of the city. "You can see it here."

They both arrived at the Player's Guild, or what was left of the Player's Guild. It was now ruin and everything 100 meters around it was too. Falziel rubbed the back of his neck. "You see, I thought my barrier could cover it...I managed the minimize the damage though!"

Azviel sighed. "I don't care about the aftermath. I just wanna know why there's no people."

Falziel gave him a thumbs-up. "I evacuated them all to safety!"

Azviel gripped Falziel's cloak collar. "I don't give a damn about the people. Did you get the money we cleared that S-Rank dungeon for?"

Falziel had a small smile on his face. "Don't pretend you don't care~ I know you do, but I'm not going to pester you on that. And yes, I got the gold, so put me down!"

With a plonk, Azviel dropped him onto the ground. Falziel stood up once more as Azviel hissed, "Don't assume things about me."

Falziel saluted. "Yes, demon king!"

Azviel sighed. "Don't do that. But now that Elsia is cleared out, where do we go?"

Falziel shrugged. "Then, why don't we head over to another city! We can simply head there and get food to eat first!"

"Where's the nearest city?"

Falziel thought for a moment. "About half a day away by walking. We shouldn't fly, as many people are trying to evacuate Elisa right now. We'll have to walk."

Azviel nodded. "Then, let's hurry. Or else I just might get annoyed enough to murder you."

Falziel chuckled. "Yes, yes. The city, Astria, here we come!"

"Astria? No, I'm not going there." Azviel refused to move.

Falziel frowned. "If we don't go to Astria, then we have to go to Relno, which is about a day's walk away though!"

Azviel ignored him and started walking out of Elsia. "Let's go there, then. I'm not heading towards Astria."

Falziel sighed. "Yes, Azviel~ You better treat me to something nice though!"

Both of them started walking out of Elsia which was completely empty. As they exited and started walking along the roads, they could spot some people traveling in carriages.

A family suddenly walked up to Falziel. "Thank you, dear player, for warning my family and saving them! We are truly in your debt!"

Falziel smiled and patted the head of the children. "You don't have to pay me back. I simply don't like people dying for no reason. Be sure to travel safely."

The family bowed. "Safe travels, Player Falziel!"

Falziel waved back at them as they resumed their journey. Azviel glared at him. "Why did you help them? You're just attracting attention to yourself."

Falziel gave him a warm smile. "It's simply what I do. I'm an archangel. Don't forget that."

Azviel sighed. "Anyways, let's hope to get any more distractions before getting to Relno."

Falziel nodded and saluted once more. "Yes, Azviel! Onwards we go!"
