2 Chapter 2: First Reader

David quickly glanced, confirming that all panels were in the proper order and there were no uploading mistakes. David closed the webpage.

David then checked how many chapters he needed to write for Horror and found he needed to write at least one hundred chapters before he could end this Manga.

David then looked at his phone and saw it was already 11:30, and as it was a Tuesday night, he decided to hit the sack.

While David was sleeping, his manga "shadow realm" encountered its first reader, a woman named Eli.

Eli was scrolling through jump when in her recommendation, she saw a weird Manga cover that was pitch black with a bizarre smile in red drawn across the book cover.

Eli was curious and clicked on this Manga and found that it had only 1 view and had been uploaded just 3 minutes ago.

Feeling bored, Eli decided to check this Manga out.

Chapter Description -

In the first scene, we meet a boy named John. He had raven black hair and a fair complexion. He is seen wearing a white gown of some sort.

His face was full of fear while his whole body trembled. He is seen sitting on the floor, hugging his legs.

The room he is sitting in is exceptionally dark. We can see nothing except for an outline of John.

Suddenly a blood-red face appears in this darkness and smiles at John.

John tries to avoid eye contact with the thing he sees.

Then, in the next panel, someone flicks on the light switch.

The face disappears, and the room is suddenly filled with light.

From what Eli could make out, this was a laboratory of some sort.

The man who walked in and switched on the light soon spoke, "Subject 2104 did you see it?"

John - "I did see something."

The man in a lab coat - "Good, that means we have finally made our first contact."

The man suddenly turned behind towards a see-through wall and gestured a thumbs up.

Outside, many scientists are seen celebrating and exclaiming about their success.

In the next scene, John is seen sitting in front of a sketch artist, describing precisely what he saw.

When the sketch is finally finished, it is picked up and shown to the camera inside the room.

Seeing the scary thing in the sketch send all the scientist into a panic.

The lead scientist, Paul, immediately broke into the room and confirmed that what John saw was the same as the sketch.

Receiving a positive answer, Paul frowned and immediately left to make a phone call.

He made a phone call to the president to make a report.

Paul - "Sir, I have urgent news."

President - "What happened."

Paul - "The recent test succeeded, and we even got a sketch."

President - "Good, this is indeed urgent news. I will inform the others."

Paul - "Sir, this isn't the only thing I have to report."

President - "What else?"

Paul - "I think it's too dangerous to open the Dimension portal the thing that subject 2104 saw couldn't even be detected by our high-tech cameras."

President - "What?"

Paul - "Yes, the painting the sketch artist drew looks like a slender man but scarier."

President - "All right, send me a photo of the sketch. I will hold a council meeting to decide what to do next."

Next, it is shown that Paul soon gets everyone to calm down and maintains order in the lab. Later, people have dinner and go to their cabins.

While walking in the passageway, it is revealed that they are in space as it's pitch black outside.

Plus, the architecture of the spaceship starts looking very fancy along the way.

Eli - "Wow, clearly, the Mangaka has worked hard."

A man named Aiden suddenly becomes the main focus in the next few panels.

He is shown on earth buying luxury cars and dating hot women, etc

This sudden change of tone confused Eli.

However it was soon revealed, it was all a dream. Aiden is then woken up by saliva falling onto his face.

Then is a panel of Aiden looking up, and the shadow monster is seen in complete.

He then immediately attacks the man and proceeds to bite his head off.

It isn't shown but implied, and that is the last panel.

Eli - "Wow, that was quite the experience."

She then proceeded to leave a comment saying thanks for the chapter.

The night soon passed, and the dawn came. David woke up, and the first thing he did was check his data on Shonen Jump.

Shadow Realm -

Chapter 1 (uploaded seven hours ago):

Views - 2387, Collections - 87, Ad Revenue - 2.38 dollars.

As David had expected, his novel is a niche theme like Horror along with Aliens, didn't immediately catch on fire and got only a pitiful 87 collection.

If Mark had known David's thoughts, he would have taken a bat and bonked David's head. Getting 87 collections in seven hours from scratch was not as easy as it sounded.

There might be over three billion people who read Shonen Jump. Still, a new Mangaka without previous fans would, at most, be recommended to a few hundred people in seven hours.

Meaning out of 300 to 400 people who read David's Manga. 87 people said this stuff is good. I need more.

That's a 21.75 to 29 percent conversion rate. For a new Mangaka on a platform like Shonen Jump is amazing.

The clueless David felt the 50,000 dollars a month was entirely within his grasp.
