4 Ch.4 The Boy(2)

The light of dawn seeped into Fannie's room. She rubbed her bleary eyes and walked to the window. Another day had dawned, bringing with it new hopes and aspirations Fannie murmured to herself smiling and staring at a tree with two sparrows sitting on it. This is what she always tell to motivate herself. She turned back giving a glance at the paintings hanging on the wall opposite to the window wall. These painting were all painted by her mother Rose Mae. Some at the lower corner of the wall was Pre- Schematic painting painted by Fannie herself.

She was lost in the painting Untill the sound outside the room brought her back to her senses

"Fannie come have your breakfast "

"Coming " she responded to the voice and started walking downstairs. She noticed,

Except for the three boys who were punished by Hazel for yesterday's behavior, everyone else sat and ate their breakfast.

she sat at the very end of the table, a lil away from the other children.

"Scrambled eggs, that's your favourite , right!" Hazel whispered in Fannie's ear, placing her plate on the table . She took a bit and said "delicious as always Ima, you are the best!!"

Hazel smiled and walked towards the boys. "If I ever see you three boys repeating the same thing, I won't go easy on you, so behave!! Now go have your breakfast. " Hazel said in a very serious tone.

The boys felt guilty and apologized to hazel and Fannie.

Although Fannie knew that these boys will not change and will do the same thing again, she would rather end it here than create a scene. The day was Sluggish but some how it was the time for which Fannie was waiting. she ran down stairs without being late and filled her lil bag with Candies specially red ones. "Fannie it's unlike you. you aren't late today" Lily said trying to make herself sound funny and every one laughed including Fannie.

Fannie was eight years old and due to her parents death She was more mature then the other Children of the same age in the orphanage. Walking the same path they finally reached the play ground. Fannie wasn't sure if Zuri would be in the same place as yesterday.

She looked around but couldn't find anything which disappointed her. She sat under the same tree as yesterday. Ten minutes passed she felt lonely again.

"M-May I join you?" A boy standing beside her said in a very low voice making Fannie jump. She turn her head to see the face. "Woahh, you are finally here, sure " Fannie said with a bright smile on her face patting the ground for him to sit down.

She took out all the candies and placed infront, so they could eat comfortably.

"So why were you crying yesterday?" Fannie asked in a mild voice.
