Anniversary

Shao Yan finally reached the elevator lobby and carefully keyed in her floor destination into the keypad.

This building was the most advanced office building in City S. There were total of six elevators but none of them had any keys inside the elevator.

In the elevator lobby there were two touch screens where people keyed in their floor destination before the screen would change to show the appointed elevator number.

Shao Yan quickly keyed in '56' and then the screen showed that her elevator would be elevator C.

She then walked to elevator C to wait. She checked her appearance through the reflective door panel and tied her shoulder length hair into a ponytail right when her assigned elevator arrived.

Calming herself down, she unconsciously hummed to the tune inside elevator.

Two years ago, she joined this company as a Project Manager. Today's presentation would be showcasing her proposal on how to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary in three months.

Gold Crane president had announced that anyone could submit their proposal for this event and the winner would be rewarded handsomely.

Rumor had it that the approved proposal would guarantee a promotion for the proposal's owner.

Exiting the elevator, Shao Yan greeted some familiar faces on her floor. She kept walking to the meeting room to start preparing for her presentation.

It's a rectangular shaped room with 20 seats capacity. There were each 10 seats on each side of the table. Shao Yan put her working bag on top of the desk and started to place the printed presentation folder to each assigned seats.

Usually there will be 8-10 people present at each meeting. She invited 20 executives today but she wasn't sure how many exactly would turn up.

Knock knock.

A cute, bubbly face female head popped in from the door and gave a big brightening smile at Shao Yan.

"Yan jie, are you nervous?", while walking into the room, she also passed Shao Yan a cup of tea and a piece of salted caramel dark chocolate.

"Thanks, Xiao Ying", Shao Yan cupped her hand around the mug and ate the chocolate, "This chocolate will definitely help my anxious heart. Are you going to sit in with us later?".

Lee Ying shook her head, her short curly hair waved along with her movement, and pouted "Mr. Wang had me translated the new Japanese novel he just acquired".

She quickly took the remaining folders from Shao Yan's hand to help her and walked to the other side of table, "Yan jie, remember me when you have become the Project Director. I still want to work with you. Be cow be dog, I don't mind." and she grinned again.

Shao Yan gave a helpless smile and knocked on Lee Ying's forehead and said "Nonsense. A girl as cute as you would definitely be a doll, instead of cow and dog. If you were dog or cow, you would have gotten kidnapped for sure!".

Shao Yan turned her attention to her laptop and powered it on, she continued "Have you heard about the new consultant that Mr. Wang hire?"

Lee Ying had finished distributing the folders and now was helping Shao Yan to check on the power cord for the projector.

She looked up at her and cheekily replied, "En. Yan jie, rumor said that he is dropped dead gorgeous. A bit old I think around 40?" she put her fingers to her chin and pondered, "But who cares if he's old, oldie but goldie, right, Yan jie! Hehe.. I heard that Madam Fu from Accounting already saw him last week and told everyone that he got a cute.." she paused for a while and looked around as if checking if anyone else was in the room, before whispering, "Cute ass!".

Then she laughed out loud while putting her hand to cover her mouth.

Shao Yan could only gave a small smile at her attitude and said, "Alright now. Stop playing around and help me brew some tea for the executives later. I will start practicing now, I only have 15 minutes left."

Lee Ying stuck her little tongue out and gave her military salute before walked out the meeting room.

Shao Yan could only shook her head helplessly at this intern of hers. Lee Ying would be graduated in two months. She had been helping her department with miscellaneous chores for 4 months now and she was like the sunshine for the team.

Due to her cheerful personality, everyone quickly liked her and enjoyed her cheeky jokes. Lee Ying was a smart girl and Shao Yan really enjoyed mentoring her as well.

Fifteen minutes went by really fast. The executives started to enter the room one by one.

She was surprised that she had more than 20 executives attending her presentation today. She and Lee Ying had to run to the adjacent meeting room to get some extra chairs.

Little that she knew, these top executives attended this meeting because they knew her by name but never really seen her face yet.

All her successful projects gained her quite a reputation within the company so they were all looking forward to what she would bring for this anniversary as well.

After settling down, Shao Yan quickly started her presentation. What the leaders like about her was because she knew how to engage people.

She kept her presentation short but not forget to highlights all the interesting parts. She actively engaged with the audiences and answered the questions with light jokes and smart answers.

"Very nice presentation, Shao Yan." Mr. Wang concluded the meeting and said, "You can go back to your desk now and we will keep in touch with you again."

She tidied up her stuffs and exited the room. While slowly, all the executives looked at each other and gave silent nods at each other.

Shao Yan went back to her desk and just as she sat down, she remembered she needed to buy the gunmetal guy a cup of coffee.

She quickly got up again and dashed downstairs.

Ugh!

She really hated having to owe anyone, "He better showed up. I can't even remember his face, I don't want to keep owing him if he doesn't show up", she grumbled.
