In for a penny

Lin Fan leaned back in the chair, looked over the data before sending it over.

[The data has been sent. I expect payment soon.]

[No thanks, I work only when I feel like it]

With the transaction complete, Lin Fan begin planning out his schedule for the next day.

Lin Fan was an average person, to others anyway. In truth, he had full cognitive functions mere minutes after he was born, a so called natural born genius. He rapidly gained knowledge from the world around him and over the internet, leading him to rapidly master a variety of skills and disciplines. Why was he average then? Because from a young age he realised a great truth. Being outstanding is meaningless, people will only treat anything great you accomplish as normal and expect more from you and yet will be disappointed if you do not meet their exceedingly high expectations.

So he chose to perform averagely in life in order to be left in peace. Still, occasionally he does need money to do things he wants without letting his family find out so he does side jobs such as hacking into databases and selling the information to the highest offer.

"Lin Fan, come to the living room! We have a surprise for you!"

Hearing his sister call him, he pondered abit before guessing its most likely his birthday surprise. It was his birthday in 3 days and his elder siblings have been making secretive actions whenever he was around.

As he entered the living room, his brother and sister was nowhere to be found, but there was a small box in the center of the room. Normally he would not open a blatantly suspicious package such as that, but he had the feeling that his siblings would be disappointed if he didn't fall for their surprise.

He opened the box and froze when he saw the contents. Inside was a small black cat, a little old to be called a kitten but definitely not a fully grown cat yet. Lin Fan had an obsession with cats, he wanted one from as soon as he could talk, but up till now his parents had never trusted him to raise a cat and not get bored of it. He does own a cat cafe under a pseudonym and he can visit it whenever he is free but he has always wanted to raise one of his own at home.

"Surprised? We convinced mum and dad to let you keep one, you have to take good care of it ok?"

His sister appeared from behind and said so. His brother agreed and chimed in.

"Yeah, we had to put in a ton of effort so don't mistreat it ok?"

"Thank you so much!! This is my best birthday present ever!!"

His sister smiled and replied. "It's only your 8th birthday, you might have better gifts in the future."

Thats right, he was only 8 years old this year. Lin Fan made a decision then.

"No this is very precious to me. I will make sure your wishes are granted too!"

His siblings looked at each other slightly bemused before patting him on the head.

"Sure thing. Why don't you go get the cat used to your room while we bring in the rest of the pet stuff."

As Lin Fan ran into his room with the cat, he thought that he would definitely make his older siblings' wishes come true. He was going to use his connections and funds to do it.

He was going to create an evil organisation and target his siblings!
