1 CHAPTER 1

Christabel's POV

PILOT

It was a Tuesday morning, Ugh!. Back to my normal routine. Wake up, get dressed for school, get money for lunch, and leave for school with my twin sister, Annabel.

Yeah, as you guessed, I am a twin.

But honestly, sometimes I wish I wasn't. Being a twin, is nice and one benefit is knowing you have another half somewhere. But the bad part, comes down to when, you need to buy things, share thing, or when a parent has a favorite.

I grew up in a family of seven. Three sisters, a brother and my parents. I'm Nigerian by the way. My full name is Okoye Chikamso Christabel. I'm actually turning 16 this year.

I'm sooo excited.

Well, a brief run through about my life, My mom died when I was 11 years old, it was really tragic for my family. We had to deal with her loss, and it was really one of the hardest times in the life of my father, I, and my siblings. My siblings are basically made up of four girls, and a boy.

My twin and I aren't the firstborn, well, basically we are for now, it's just, m mom and dad had a kid before us, that died at the age of six.

After my mom's death, coping without her was very unbearable for us, especially my dad. I remember, a time after her burial, when he sat in front of her grave and balled his eyes out, with a bottle of beer and a cigarette in one hand. Well, P. S: My dad is a smoker. My mom tried getting him to stop, but it was futile.

So, a year, after my mother's death, we convinced pir dad that we needed a step mother, well, mostly I, kept on convincing him. Well, in Nigeria, when it comes to the Igbos, they could get you a wife or husband with the snap of a finger, so finding us a step mom was very easy.

When we met, ify, as my dad loves call her when he's angry, she was the sweetest. She bought us things all children wanted, loved, needed, so we were sooo blinded by these things, and soon enough, my dad listened to us, why?, Because he loves his children and he wants to make them happy.

He payed her dowry, and she started living with us in Lagos State. We had to relocate from Ketu after our mom died, to ikorodu. Ikorodu was nice, but Ketu was still home to us.

I'm different ways, ify, stared changing her ways, she started lying to our dad, about things we never did, sometimes giving us spoilt food, to sum it all up, ify was a liar, pretender, and a thief.

Why did I call her a thief, right?. Don't worry, you'll get to know why.

So, back to Tuesday, Anna was already done and ready for school. I on the other hand was busy asking my dad for lunch money.

"Give me my trousers". "He ordered in his deep voice. I walked to his wardrobe, reached for his trousers which he wore yesterday and handed it to him. He brought out a huge sum of cash, tied with a rubber band. He took out two five hundred naira notes and handed them to me.

"Daddy, thank you sir". I replied, earning a nod from him. I returned the trouser from where I got it. Standing in front of his bed, contemplating on either telling him about I and Anna's school fees or…not.

That's one bad side about having twins, you'd always pay for two, Double Trouble.

"Ehh hn?. Chikamso, what is it? ". He asked, no looking at me, but busy typing away on his phone, while lying on the bed.

"Daddy… Yesterday, our principal said, he would not let us enter, if we don't pay our school fees". I said, folding my arms. My dad has this 'thing' for always paying late. If it's not related to his bar, which he owns, he doesn't care, unless he's been pestered day and night.

"Chikamso, go to school" . He said nonchalantly. One thing I inherited from my dad, was his temper. Especially when I do not get what I want. The only difference between us is, I know exactly how to keep mine in check, but he doesn't .

"Daddy , he sa.. " I did even complete my sentence, when he yelled.

"CHIKAMSO! I SAID GO TO SCHOOL! What is it?. Your principal, said this, your principal said that. Do you people want to kill me?. If your principal sends you people home, then come home, or come to the bar and work. Do you people think it's easy to make money?". He yelled.

With a heavy heart, I walked out of his room and closed his door. If you know, you didn't want children, why did you have us then?

My dad turned into this different person after my mom's death. He cared less about our education, and it was really painful.

"What did he say?". Anna asked, as I walked into our room to pick my school bag. Wiping a tear from my eye, I narrated all that happened to her.

"This is why don't like talking to him, you should've talked to him instead ". I protested angrily. Actually, my dad's favorite in all his Children, is my Twin sister.

She is like his gold medal.

Wherever he went, he could brag about Anna, how she was in science class, how she wanted to become a medical doctor, and so much more. I always felt like the lesser person, he never bragged about me to anyone, no matter how much I tried to improve my grades, my dad never praised me.

I came first twice in my class for two years, even at that, he still never cared.

"Woo… Didn't I talk to him on Saturday?.

He said he'll pay by Tuesday, and with the way he has talked to you, it doesn't seem like he would change his mind. I don't want him to shout at me abeg. Sheybe he has given you money for lunch? ". She asked, putting on her school bag.

I reluctantly, reached in my school pocket and handed her a five hundred naira note. She collected it from me.

"Let's go, let's not be late abeg". She said, signalling me to put on my bag, so we could leave.

I checked the time, it was 6:58am, assembly starts around 7:30am. I picked up my bag, and wore it. I felt like peeing, so I walked into the toilet to take a piss.

"See, I'll be downstairs. Be fast o". She said, and walked away. After peeing, rainsed my vagina, walked Into my room to get a clean dried towel, and patted it dry. I wore my panties and skirt.

Walking out of my room, I came in contact with ify. Oh God, why does the earth plan on ruining my day?!.

"So, Chikamso, you cannot greet abi? ". She asked, dragging her stupid yam feet as she walked into my dad's room. I payed no attention to her, and just walked downstairs.

Anna was impatiently waiting.

"Shey na Pikin you dey born since ni?. (Where you giving birth to a child?)". She asked, and started walking.

Soon enough, we got to school. Thankfully, No teachers were outside, neither was the short man, who was our principal. So, we hurried up the stairs to our class rooms. We were in different classes.

"Christyyyyy". Came a voice I knew all too well. God, she was at times annoying as hell, and sometimes, she was nice, I guess.

She wasn't a bully, even if she was, no one could bully me, no matter how much they tried.

Dorcas, that was her name. She was skinny as hell, sometimes, I tend to be careful when hugging her, so as not to break her bones.

She walked to me with open arms, and I received her. "Weytin do you na?. You no look happy at all. (wring with you?. You don't look happy)". She queried.

I really did not feel like answering her at all, but I had to. So I gave her a fake smile, and told her I was okay. She smiled and went back to talking to her friends.

Well, my friends weren't in class that day, same with the guy I liked. He wasn't around too. I hoped he would come today, at least, that would put a smile on my face.

Victor, or as we would call him, SB (Solide bass), was the first friend I made when I came to this school. He was very nice, and we got along very well, and since that day, I liked him.

The bell rang, and it seemed like today, there wasn't gonna be ab assembly, so first period it is.

Everyone got their English Text books out of their bags, and for 'we',who did not have, we had to find who we'd sit with.

Today's English class, was held in the Tech class rooms. So let me explain, I was in Ss3, and we had four different classrooms. They were, Science, Tech, Business, and Humanities.

My twin was in Sciences and I was in Humanities.

So, of to Tech class we went. I quickly got a seat, next to a Tech student. I told him I didn't have a text book, and he was nice enough to share his with me.

The teacher entered the class, and the lecture started.

"So, you are Christabel?". The guy sitting near me asked. I nodded my head. I wondered how he knew.

"My name is Deji". I smiled, and nodded my head. I have heard about him in my class, and I have seen him once, maybe twice.

He seemed nice.

We chatted for a bit. And he was actually friendly.

"Nonso, How far, you get two pen? ". Deji asked a guy sitting in front of us.

That name, I know, but I haven't seen his face yet.

You are curious, about how I know his name right?. Well, He has a girlfriend in my class, named Ife. She is a Yoruba girl, and she's pretty. Chinonso had the record of one of the best kissers in our set.

He also was know for how he dated. But, he was always praised for how brilliant and smart. Most girls, actually complimented his looks in my class. He was the number 3 among the most handsome guys in our set, but I never saw his face.

With everything I heard about him, I never liked him, and I seriously didn't want to be in any kind of contact with a bad guy like that. And here I was, sitting at his back, about to see what he actually looks like.

"Yeah" . He said, and turned around, placed the pen on the table in front of Deji, looked at me briefly, and looked ahead again.

Okkkkkaayyy. I would admit, he is HANDSOME!. God!. Now, I know how he gets girls. This guy was dark skinned, he had a pair of recommend glasses on, his eyes looked down turned, his lips were small, mad the lower lip was pink, and his nose was pointed.

I guess puberty hit him, because, he had a bit stubble on his jaw. Anyone would fall for him, with just one glance, but not me!.

He was a cassanova, period!.
