27 Please Come Back To Me

Katherine went through the men who circled Xander that was now lying down unconscious in a protective manner, she sat on her knees and checked his pulse, she then immediately pressed a button on her watch and five minutes later three helicopters were hovering above the building which had Xander's men alarmed.

Apparently three of BEPBU guards survived and they took the chance to shoot Xander while he was left standing frozen by Katherine earlier. As soon as he was shot his men immediately circled around him in a protective manner and began firing at the culprits until they were down, because their backs was facing Xander they didn't notice the time when Katherine ran to him, when they turned around and saw the lady who was conversing with their boss earlier still wearing a black face mask and only her eyes could be seen.

They saw her pressing her hand on Xander chest where he was bleeding, they were about to carry him to their cars and rush him to the hospital when they suddenly saw three helicopters hovering over them and as soon as the helicopters landed hundreds of men surrounded them with their guns ready to fire.

Xander's men were outnumbered tremendously but they were not going to surrender without a fight, they were about to start shooting when they head the lady who had her hand on Xander's chest say "Stop, these are my men and we are not here to fight you guys or cause any harm to your boss" she then quickly ordered one of her men and Harris to quickly carry Xander and put him inside the helicopter, they were about to take him but Xander's men stopped them.

"Hey where are you taking our master? We are not going to allow you to take him anywhere so hands off. "

Katherine turned to them and sharply said "Do you want him dead you idiots! Don't you see how much he's bleeding? If we don't treat him now he will die and I will not allow him to die, not on my watch.

You can come with us if you don't trust me but whether you allow it or not I am taking him" Katherine left not room for any further arguments so the men hesitantly followed her and they all got in the helicopters and left while some of Katherine's men stayed behind because they needed to burn and destroy the building completely.

One Helicopter which was carrying Katherine, Xander and his men landed in a gigantic mansion, as soon as it landed the men carefully took Xander towards the direction that Katherine gestured them, it was a hospital that was inside the mansion and when they got in, the doctors who where already waiting for them to arrive took Xander to the emergency room and started operating on him.

Katherine along with Emily and Harris and two of Xander's men stood outside the emergency room anxiously waiting for the doctors to come out. A few hours later the doctors came out and the people waiting immediately straightened up waiting for them to speak. The head doctor who was in his early fifties cleared his throat and said to Katherine "Miss Lu, the operation was successful and the patient's condition is now stable but we will have to keep monitoring his condition for a couple of days, he will be moved to the room and a nurse will look after him through out the night."

A sigh of relief escaped from Katherine's mouth and she said to the doctor "Thank you Doctor Mo, have him moved inside the mansion to the third room on the second floor and there's no need for a nurse i will look after him myself" Hearing this they all looked at Katherine like she had grown two heads but seeing how adamant she was in taking care of him herself nobody dared to object her.

Katherine was now sitting on a chair beside Xander's bed looking at his handsome face, it had been three years since she had last seen him. "He's still as handsome as i remember, In fact he looks more handsome now, but he also looks tired.. What happened to him?" she softly murmured to herself.

As she was looking at him she noticed his brow furrowed and tears rolling down the sides of his eyes, her brows drew together because it seemed like he was having a nightmare, she stood up and grabbed a tissue and went to wipe his tears, she was gently wiping his right eyes with her face hovering above his when she heard him softly whisper while slightly stuttering "Katherine, please come back to me.. I'm s-sorry, p-please come back, I-i love you" and she froze.

Katherine felt a needle prick her heart, she looked at Xander and she couldn't help but feel her heart break, at some point in her life she wished he would say these words to her, she waited for him for a year but he never showed up, but everything has changed now, she was no longer that foolish, weak and naive Katherine, no, Katherine is now dead, she would not engage in any romantic relationship with a man, in fact her heart is dead so she isn't capable of having such feelings, Katherine lied to herself. After composing herself she sat back down and continued to look at him.

She then remembered that back at the BEPBU building he told her that he was looking for 'Katherine' "Could his wife's name be the same as mine? Maybe it's he's girlfriend or fiance he's longing for" Katherine asked herself, she didn't believe that he knew about her existence let alone look for her and besides it had been three years and four months since she got sold so surely whoever was looking for her in her family or friends must have stopped for now.

Katherine spent the entire night with Xander looking after him, she barely had any sleep. When morning arrived Emily brought breakfast for Katherine but she wasn't in the mood to eat so she asked her to take the food away, Emily was really worried for her boss's well-being so she asked "boss who is this man and why are you so damn worried him that you are not taking care of yourself?"

"Shh, don't wake him up" Katherine said before standing up and dragging Emily out of the room.

They stood outside the door because Katherine didn't want to leave Xander's side for too long. Emily intently looked at her and said "Is he truly Xander Ling? Your first love? Boss you can't possibly allow your feelings for him to get in the way of our mission of destroying BEPBU! What if he ends up betraying you like that bastard Tom, you can't easily trust him, you have worked so hard to be where you are now don't let it go to waste" Emily blurted out with her voice a little high because she was really emotional right now, she was dead worried about her mistress's condition and she didn't want her to be hurt again.

"Relax Emily, I told you that he once saved me three years ago so I'm just repaying him. I don't have feelings anymore Em, my heart is dead and after what the BEPBU did to me I definitely don't have time to entertain any man. Katherine is long dead and I don't intend on bringing her back, I will send him away the minute he gets better. Don't worry Emily he won't be a hindrance to our mission" Katherine calmly explained to Emily before turning around to enter the room that Xander was occupying currently.

She held the door knob and opened it, as soon as she did she saw Xander standing by the door and she froze, it seemed that he was eavesdropping on her conversation with Emily, but when did he wake up? She was about to ask him to go back to bed when she heard him say "Are you really Katherine? Katherine Kenneth?" Xander asked her with a low shaky voice, he had heard everything and he was beyond shocked, because Katherine looked different, she now had golden blond hair, forest green eyes, jade white and glowing skin, beautiful nose, plump pink lips and sharp jaw.

She was beautiful too in the past but now that he was looking at her she looked like the most beautiful angel that had descended to earth just to grace the worldly beings with her presence. Even her voice has changed to be sweeter, what on earth did those monsters do to her? If she is truly Katherine then he could not even begin to imagine what sick experiments they did on her to make her entire appearance change like this. Xander thought.

He saw a series of emotions pass on her face, before he could catch the emotion and understand what they are it quickly disappeared to be replaced by a blank expression. "No, I'm not Katherine. I already told you before that Katherine is dead, please return to your bed and have some rest, I will bring you breakfast" Katherine said.

She was about to turn around and leave the room when Xander suddenly hugged her tightly and whispered "I missed you. I'm sorry Katherine i shouldn't have left you, I should have stayed by your side and protected you, that time when you confessed to me i didn't know that my heart was capable of loving but know that I was never able to forget you, I had been looking after you and when I realized my feelings you were still a new model so I wanted to give you time to establish your career before I propose to you. Please forgive me Katherine, I love you so much " Xander said to Katherine while tears were rolling down his face.

Even though she had denied being herself his heart had recognized her, her eyes color may have changed but he saw the same light, sincerity and innocence as he had when he first looked in to them three years ago, her scent wafted in his nose and his heart squeezed in pain and anger, she really was the one because even her scent has not changed.

He was in pain and anger thinking about what she might have been through, he gritted his teeth and promised in his heart to destroy all those that dared to harm his woman
