After working his 9-5 shift , exhausted, Robert decides to take it easy at his local café and take a brake from his boring day job. He takes out his cigarette and orders some coffee while he enjoys the café music being played from the radio. He gazes outside the window at the soft glow of the moon and the twinkling of stars in the clear, dark sky as he lets his thoughts roam free in his mind. He loses track of time and ends up staying longer than he wanted. He is brought back to reality when out of the blue, a random stranger bangs his head on the glass window. It was a creepy guy with a wrinkled face filled with multiple scars all round his face and sunken cheeks and deep set of eyes that seem to bore into his soul. His lips were pulled back into a menacing smile, and his breath fogging up the window as he stared intently at Robert. Roberts a little startled but thinks nothing of it. This wasn't something new to him since the streets are filled with crazy people like the one he has encountered so he decides to ignore the man on the window acting as if he wasn't there to begin with hoping he could leave him be so that he can enjoy the rest of the night in peace. Soon the mans expression begun to change and his expression melted into a frown. The man fogged up the window and on his condensed breathe he wrote, " I can see you." He then backs away slowly from the window and with one last menacing smile he fades into the darkness. This encounter was more unsettling than usual, it made Robert feel uneasy. Robert had enough of crazy for the night and decides to wrap up the evening. He proceeds to the counter to pay his bill and as he leaves his attention is drawn to a rather disturbing message from the café radio. The voice on the radio was urgent and tense, with a sharp and commanding tone. "Attention all residents in the surrounding area. We have just received word that an individual has escaped from our rehabilitation facility. The escapee is believed to be armed and dangerous, and should not be approached under any circumstances. If you see the escapee, please call 911 immediately. He is a middle aged man with multiple scaring's on his face, about 5.8 in size and has blue eyes. Lastly, do not try to confront this man alone, your safety is our top priority." Robert pulls out a cigarette lights it and heads home. The air is cool and fresh, carrying the gentle sounds of nocturnal animals and the distant hum of traffic. For the most part nothing seemed unusual, but soon Robert starts to feel uneasy, his heart rate increases and his breathing becomes irregular, as if on que, he notices a looming shadow out of the corner of his eyes. He puts out his cigarette and walks faster to his house which was a few blocks away. He stops in his tracks and slowly turns his head towards the other side of the road, there he was, the guy from earlier giving off the same menacing smile and a gentle wave in the air. While in the café , he tried not to pay too much attention to him so he couldn't quite make out exactly how he looked like, but as the moon silver light casts a soft glow over the landscape, Robert was able to make out exactly how he looked like and after realizing the person his up against he froze on the spot, a chill went up his spine as he locked eyes with the person he'd hope not to meet, a perfect match of the person that was being described in the radio, an escapee from rehab. Robert couldn't move, speak or even think clearly at that moment. His heart raced, his breathing quickened and droplets of sweat trickled down his face. The man begun to mouth something in the distance inaudibly, observing him closely Robert was able to make out exactly what he was saying. " I can see you." Robert had had enough of these game and finally mastered his courage and tried to speak out, " What do you want?!" He said in a trembling voice trying to maintain his composure. Silence filled the atmosphere around for a moment. No word was uttered, instead Robert received a series of piercing gazes that made his skin crawl. Robert broke the silence and in a commanding and more or less confident tone said, " Well fuck of then!" The mans stops waving and his expression changes to show no emotion. He backs away and walks in the opposite direction till he was nothing but a small image in the distance. Robert felt a sense of relief for a brief moment until suddenly the image of the man stopped and grew larger by the second. Roberts pulse quickened when he grasped what was going on, at a quickened pace the man was charging towards him with a psychopathic smile on his face reveling all his yellow crooked teeth. With a burst of adrenalin Robert dashes towards his house hoping to find refuge from this situation. The streets were completely empty so Robert had only himself to fend for. He bolted to his front door and locked it tight behind him. He fell to the ground on all his fours and took rapid short breaths trying to recover from all of this trauma. He takes a peak from his curtain window and that's when he saw it, a tall dark figure standing a few meters away from his house. With one final gaze, he walks away and disappears into the night. Robert hoped this was his final encounter with whatever that was but little did he know of what lied ahead of him. He couldn't sleep that night and all he could think of was the encounters he had that day, replaying in his mind scene after scene after scene. Robert didn't have a family at the time and only lived with his pet dog who for the moment tried her best to comfort her terrified owner. Moments go by and finally exhaustion takes its toll on him and sleep sets in. He ensures his house is locked up tight and then proceeds to his bed. Hours go by and suddenly his sleep is disturbed by glass braking downstairs. Roberts dog woke up alert and ready for action and proceeded downstairs to the source of the noise. "Please don't be him." Robert whispered as he cautiously got off his bed and grabbed a baseball bat. Soon chaos broke lose downstairs, as he could hear objects being flung across the room smashing into walls , he could also hear his dog barking at a possible intruder. Moments later silence fills the house. Robert begins to tremble as numerous thoughts came racing in his mind. On guard, he tiptoes carefully downstairs to confront whatever exactly he was up against. He approaches his front door and realizes someone broke into his house. He tries to call his dog but no response, thinking of the worst Robert proceeds cautiously towards the trashed living room, he knew someone was in his house because he could feel their gaze piercing his skin, and their dense aura filling the room. As he entered the living room he was greeted with a rather peculiar stench . What he later saw that night would be forever be embedded in the deepest part of his brain. There his pet dog lay, lifeless, drenched in cold blood. He dropped his bat and run towards her, tears gushing out of his eyes hoping that she was still alive but alas that wasn't the case. He picked up her lifeless body and gave her one last hug before slowly putting her down. Something caught his eye though, something that Robert prayed and hoped never to encounter. A writing on the wall, not just any writing but a writing in blood saying, " I CAN SEE YOU!" Just then he could hear his floor boarded creaking as someone slowly approached him. The footsteps stop and for a moment Robert could feel someone's cold breathe on his neck. He was too stunned to speak or move, all he could do was cry as he awaited what came next. His nightmare becomes a reality when the person behind him releases a cruel laughter that Robert recognizes all too well, The man squats next to Roberts left ear and slowly whispers, " I can seeee youuu."
